I decided to try somewhere new I had high expectations from reviews but was left disappointed. The Elote and Horchata wasn’t bad I’d rate each 7/10. The chips guacamole were overpriced to me especially since there was nothing but avocado (no cilantro, onions etc)4/10. The tacos didn’t have much flavor to me and I expected more taste wise 5/10.

Very disappointed and disgusted. I ordered mac and cheese, greens and bbq chicken wings. The mac and cheese is pathetic, gross, worse than frozen, dry, stringy, and smelled off. The chicken was soooo overcooked so the meat was dry and the skin was too hard.. it also didn't taste like they cleaned the chicken properly.. i only ate 1 wing out of 10. and the greens were just okay. Kind of tangy and not what you'd expect i guess but not in a good way, shop rite kitchen has wayyyyyy Better greens. I will NEVER ever ever ever order here again. I wish i could get my money back and go to shop rite and cook myself. I'm not even that picky or particular but im a foodie and this worthless place didn't produce food. This isn't soul food. It's dull, dry, and old food. Trust me go elsewhere. I honestly believe the family members and friends are posting 5 star reviews. Or they must have paid people to post because it's barely a star. If i could give it a zero i would because first impressions are everything. The chef or cooks need to watch chopped, top chef and take more classes. The instagram page shows good looking food but what i actually received was pure garbage and i wouldn't be surprised if this place closes down because they must have the same mentality as fast food, where online everything looks fresh and appetizing but when you receive it, it's old and mishandled. I honestly wouldn't even let them pay me to cater my party.

Really great food, we had an appetizer before our meal and we did not wait long at all. Place has the legit Mexican vibe, including the plates and cups (mine was served in a ceramic tile with a wooden frame, see pic). I got the Folklore tacos with chicken. The only reason why I give it a 4 is because of the price. My plate was $13 for three tacos, but that could've easily changed because of Pandemic. Also you need to consider that the place is small..not for a large group of people.

Servings are extremely small as if it’s gourmet chicken. Two appetizer sized precooked tasting pieces of chicken for 10.00? Are they aware of the quantity and quality we can get for 10.00

I've ordered from here for both individual meals as well as for catering meals like 1/2 trays of eggplant parm, meatball parm, Korean wings, and fries for parties/BBQ's. I have always been thrilled with the food, service and price. Everyone who tastes the food from Some Good Food asks me where it's from so they can order down the road. The best part is they deliver via Uber Eats! I had the Mac and cheese, wings and collard greens delivered and was not disappointed. They were amazing. If you don't feel like cooking or just want great food, call Some Good Food. The owner is also super responsive to email inquires.

I tried out Some Good Food last night for the first time. Well ladies, we didn't have one complaint. The kids ate every last bite of their food and then ate my food too! I am VERY picky with my cheesesteaks and yours is on my top 5!! The service is amazing, we didn't have to wait long for our order and the prices, kinda shocked me. I expected to pay A LOT more for all that we got. Thank you so much for the delicious food and the friendly conversation. We will definitely be ordering from you ladies again!!

I went to Some Good Food today and I really must say that the aroma hit me before I hit the door. It smelled absolutely delicious, I couldn't wait to get the fork to my mouth and boy I was not disappointed. For a take out restaurant the environment was supreme. The ENERGY was Phenomal and I cannot wait to have my oxtails on Tuesday. I had Fried Fish, Collard Greens Potato Salad and i cant forget the Peach Cobbler. So go down to the Bayou right in West Orange and get Some Good Food.

Dined in today for a late lunch with my wife and was blown away by this place. We ordered a set of chicken, chorizo and short rib bbq mula folklore tacos. These were incredible. Full of flavor, served hot and promptly. We split a horchata drink between us which was also delicious. The woman who served us was incredibly polite and sweet and the atmosphere was comfortable and laid back. We really liked the presentation of what we ordered and the dishes it was all served on/in. If you're in the area and want some seriously good food then this place is a mandatory stop.

Went there with friends and kids. Food is bland for us. Kids liked it thought. The chair I was sitting on has nails poking out and it scratched my leg and blood was out. When I told them this happened, there is no reaction from the people working there. Will not go back again

I came across this spot for lunch so I called in my order. When the lady answered I asked her a question and she had to find out. She hung up on me a couple times while I was on hold but she finally got my answer. I ordered the mushroom and spinach tacos and chips with salsa. When I arrived I parked on the street nearby. I walked in and the lady asked if I was picking up. I told her my name and she grabbed my food. It came to $15.94 total. When I got in I dug in and the chips were good with the dip. The tacos were a little salty though. I did like the sauce they gave with it. All in all I had an ok experience.

  • 3/5 Leslie M. 4 years ago on Google
Good and not so good. The shrimp in the taco were chewy and rubbery. The amount of guac and cheese was a teaspoon in a cup on the side and on top of the nachos same thing. Less than a teaspoon. The pork and chicken were very good but such a small amount on a full bowl of rice. The tomatoes were fresh and delicious. As a business manager myself I know they have to correct these things to stay in business in the long run. I would go back, it is fresh. Next time I will post a photo. 1. Add more guac and cheese 2. Be careful not to overcook the shrimp.

What a perfect spot for a casual lunch. The tacos come in 4 and you can mix and match. They are not Fred Flintstone sized but they are delicious. The flan, flautas and churro are all top notch and the woman who ran the place was a darling.

Love this place. Amazing food. Favorite thing on the menu is the short ribs, get them you won’t be disappointed. And that green salsa, so good…needs to be bottled and sold. Favorite Mexican food in North Jerz.

I normally don’t leave a review unless it’s positive, but I just have to share how BAD the customer service is at this place. The younger woman at the counter has awful customer service skills. Easy way to lose a potential customer because this was my first and last time here. The food? To be honest, I don’t understand how people would keep coming back here. Way overpriced for the quality that you’re getting. I asked for corn tortillas and of course I got flour. Awful awful service at the front.

I’m Mexican and I loved this place, the flavor of the tacos is very original and authentic, there are many options to choose from and I have tried them and all are really GOOD. My boys love elotes, guacamole and the churros, also the horchata water waoh! Well, we all loved it. The attention is very good, I have been a customer for years and it is always our option! 😋

I contacted Chef Kia at the very last minute to provide from her catering menu. She was able to accommodate my requests with scrumptious selections at a very reasonable price! The Korean Salmon was outstanding! I also enjoyed the mac 'n' cheese and the garlic green beans. Please support her and her business.

First impression is that the place is small, but to me, that’s usually a good sign that the food would be authentic. We ordered the chicken burrito bowl and the carne asada tacos and it was soo good! I like to add the sauce, lime and guacamole to my tacos and it was chef’s kiss. The service was quick and the staff are so nice! I highly recommend this place and we added it to our favorite restaurants to eat from. Notes: you can sit anywhere without waiting for someone to sit you. And you go up to the cashier when you’re done eating to pay.

Delicious authentic tacos and burritos. My family’s favorite hands down is the Folklore BBQ short rib burrito. The taco version is great too. It’s so big that I eat half for dinner and lunch the next day. Great churros and horchata too.

  • 4/5 Ramiro Alejandro R. 3 years ago on Google
Had the tilapia tacos - they were fresh and I can tell they were of high quality, but the line and acid-y veggie topping was not for me. Do get their horchata! I still recommend the place though, the people inside were kind and hard working, plus the store is themed well.

This was my go to taco spot when I was in the area until almost two weeks ago when I placed my order online. I didn't realize that I had placed my order at close. I received my text that the order was ready. When I got to the restaurant several minutes later, it was closed. I reached out several times. But no response. I paid for a meal that I never received. After hours of driving, I had to scramble to find a late night dinner. They need to refund my payment and fix their online ordering to not take orders if the restaurant is closed.

Food is authentic and tasty. COVID protocol not up to par, several cooks behind counter wearing mask below nose and one person was drinking a beverage while over the food.

The worst food I ever had. The rice was like mush and it literally looked like they cooked the meat and tossed it in old rice. I will never come back here again.

  • 3/5 Lon B. 3 years ago on Google
This is a very good local Mexican restaurant. The food is fresh and tasty. We enjoyed it,,,,,especially the burrito. The cons: the menu is not descriptive enough. I had no idea what some of these dishes were. The staff does not speak English clearly and could not answer my questions. The way the counter is set up for orders TO GO is difficult to talk over and get around. They need some simple reorganization , but the food is good!

The portion was great, but the good was extremely salty. Also, brown rice would be a great addition to the menu, for those that are health conscious.

  • 5/5 Nick P. 3 years ago on Google
Hands down the best taco place in Essex County. And probably in North Jersey. They have varying recipes of chicken, pork, beef, fish and veggie. So you’ll never get tired of it. So many tacos to choose from. Personal favorite is the BBQ Short Ribs on Al Queso tacos.

  • 5/5 Kevin K. 4 years ago on Google
Folklore is a great local spot and seems to be a family-run operation. Their taco options are all fantastic and you get plenty of food with your order. If you eat at the restaurant the food comes out quickly. Their guacamole is quietly hidden in the corner of the menu, but don't skip over it - it's simple, fresh, and very tasty. They have a wide range of hot sauces available in the restaurant for adding varying degrees of heat to your meal if you prefer. If you feel strongly about patronizing local businesses, you should put Folklore on your regular list.

I was supposed to receive 4 tacos, but only received 3. The grilled chicken tacos were salty. The green sauce is not good either. The only thing that tasted great was the corn. This place is not authentic at all!

  • 5/5 Heather E. 3 years ago on Google
Absolutely delicious! Decided to give Folklore a try on Small Business Saturday, and the entire family was pleasantly surprised by the wonderful food and service. We had the costra de queso with bbq short ribs, tilapia tacos, elote, and guacamole. Everything tasted great, and my picky toddler was dancing in her seat while chowing down on her taco. Highly recommend!!

Finally, authentic Mexican food, cooked by a Mexican family. We stopped by the West Orange location and ordered just about everything. I can't remember what was in the order, but I do remember the tacos al pastor (my favorite tacos anywhere) and the roast corn; those were the standouts, and I remember the rest being great as well. The elderly lady who served us was also the nicest. This isn't the faux tex-mex as is common around here, just more delicious. I'm overjoyed that they'll be in Cranford soon because this area needs great Mexican food. Nos vemos.

(Translated by Google) I am from Puebla when my wife told me that they had opened a Mexican restaurant 100% Puebla food, I was excited and told my wife, Let's try the food, and my wife is American and my daughter loves tacos, I went to bring some tacos .And 2 ears of corn to start the corn are white, not yellow, they had no flavor at all. And corn for starters are white. They tasted horrible. I ordered some carne asada tacos and some carnitas, I don't really know what tacos they were, but it's not the carnitas or the carne asada tacos that I know. There is a restaurant in Elizabeth that if I give it five stars that if it's Mexican food I'm sorry I went to buy food I paid almost $ 60 for food that was not good in that case I would have gone to Taco Bell my wife cooks better I advise What can I give you if you are going to represent our land? Try to get 100% Mexican cooks and something else that I noticed. There was a cook. With his shirt all sweaty and his mask dirty, I wish you luck but please correct your mistakes and stop to finish the sauce tasted like water with raw tomatoes I think they forgot until they put the jalapenos Usually when they sell tacos they put two types of pico de gallo sauce and lemons 🤦🏽‍♂️ (Original) Yo soy de Puebla cuando mi esposa me dijo que habían abierto un restaurant mexicano 100% comida poblana yo me emocioné y dije a mi esposa Vamos a probar la comida .y mi esposa es americana y mi hija le encantan los tacos fui a traer unos tacos .Y 2 elotes para empezar los elotes son blancos no amarillos no tenían sabor de nada.

The food here was so awesome! The Carne Asada was so killer but it’s tough to choose one option with the 23 fillings options they have! I will return again for sure being there is SO much more to try that I didn’t get to.
