Food is cooked with love and intention. I've never been to Africa, let alone Ethiopia. However, I have been to several Ethiopian restaurants and Ethio Beans just feels more welcoming--like you're coming home. This contributed to a relaxing and joyous dinner for two!

AMAZING!!! The best Ethiopian food I’ve had since being in Ethiopia. Ethiopia is going through a brutal civil war so please support this restaurant and it’s workers they have families back in Ethiopia. Coffee is amazing! the tej (honey mead or wine) is amazing. The little shop that’s attached is exactly like a little store you’d see in Ethiopia. It brought back so many good memories!!

Very tasty. The food is made to order and fresh. The regular portion size was enough for left overs. And I was so happy they had gluten free injera. I'm happy I don't have to go all the way downtown for good Ethiopian food any more.

I love this restaurant so much! We live over 1400 miles away, but try to get here whenever we are nearby. The food is out of this world, with a great selection and spot-on seasoning. This time, we got the Veggie Combo and Tegabino Shiro. Wow! If you like a little spice, order the Tegabino Shiro. If I ever lose my mind, my husband is instructed to re-introduce this dish to me every day. The owner is a joy and very helpful. Additionally, she keeps upgrading the dining room. The attached market is great for the items you need that you can't get when you live in the middle of nowhere. We want to make these dishes at home, but we will keep coming back to see if we get anywhere close.

Wanted to try this place for a long time. So glad we did. It did not disappoint. We ordered Sambussa for appetizer, Ethio Bean combo with extra Injer for main course. This was enough for 4 people. We got to try great selection of different dishes on one platter. Our favourite was the red lentils and chicken curry. Finished with coffee to round out the experience. Delicious fresh home made food and served by friendliest host.

Love this place! We got the dinner platter, the sambusas, and the tea. Everything was delicious, flavorful and fresh! And the portions were VERY generous. It is so fun to have authentic Ethiopian food in the suburbs!

The food and service were amazing. Don't skip the coffee ceremony - it was a real treat! They're in the middle of expansion but still open for business. We will definitely be back.

Location, location, location. I was searching for an Ethiopian restaurant but didn’t want to travel over an hour to Chicago to find one. Ethio Beans was the only Ethiopian restaurant that isn’t clustered in the same area and serves the suburbs. I was a bit of a challenge to find, even with GPS. I know the area and have been past it multiple times without even noticing it. But it was worth the effort. The atmosphere is not exactly “date night”. It is pretty bare-bones with bright fluorescent lighting and bare tables. But the food and service are excellent. It seems to be a bit under-staffed, but the friendliness of the owner makes up for any delays once you realize she is the cook, cashier, hostess and often the server! It is a one woman show that delivers authentic Ethiopian tastes. There is also a small store attached that offers an incredible variety of Ethiopian food and crafts. We shared the sampler among the three of us. It was more than enough. I really enjoyed the beef tibs. Now that I found it, I will be returning.

I am so glad I found this hidden gem of a restaurant! If you are vegetarian and haven't tried this food yet, you are missing a lot. If you eat meat, lucky you! There are great menu options. It's SOUL food to the max!!

I've heard about Ethio Beans for a while and finally decided to try it. Now we have a place to go whenever we say "where should we eat?" Even my hand smells amazing after enjoying the best Ethiopia food in the States!!

The food was amazing, but the staff were the real stars here. They were so warm and sweet. This was out first time having Ethiopian so we were a little apprehensive when ordering, but everything our server suggested was great. We’ll definitely be coming back soon

Fantastic atmosphere, unique dining experience, friendly and casual service, topped off by tasty food that was fun to eat (no silverware, just like in Ethiopia). Highly recommend, it's great for sharing!

Love how many vegan options there are. The vibe of the place is so friendly and it feels like everyone there is family. The cultural tea was beautiful and everything tasted fantastic. Excited to discover this place so close to work. Cant wait to bring others here

Amazing food and very kind service! We do not have any Ethiopian food near us so we came here based on reviews and photos (1 1/2 hour drive). Well worth the trip and we will be coming back for sure. Generous portions. There were three of us and we got three vegetarian combos but would have been fine getting two and sharing. We took quite a bit home. We also got the mango juice. This was straight up mango purée and sooooo delicious and refreshing. Everything about this meal was above our expectations and we can’t wIt to return!!

My mom, daughter and I came here for dinner last night to celebrate my birthday and we were blown away :-) we grew up in the city and recently moved to the Western burbs... I have been missing my favorite Ethiopian restaurants on the north side of the city and was so happy to find a place that had good reviews nearby. The food was absolutely delicious and our server was hey sweetheart. This will be a new favorite of ours. Thank you so much!

We recently stopped in to get lunch. I really wanted to have some Ethiopian food as we don't have that option where we live. The staff was very welcoming and did everything they could to make our experience a good one. We ordered vegetarian dishes and tea and didn't have to wait long at all. The food was great! The service was fast and attentive. I only wish they had actual iced tea (as opposed to hot tea with a bit of ice). Otherwise, it was a great lunch and if we lived closer, we would absolutely go back. High recommend.

My family and I went to Ethio Beans this past weekend and had a wonderful time. The food is great! Just like we had it growing up. The service was warm and welcoming as well. If you are looking for great food and want to avoid the drive into Chicago this is the place for you. We will definitely be back!

Really good Ethiopian food. We tried their Sambusas, Combination platter and Shai(traditional tea) and all were excellent. The only suggestion I have is to keep the place a little more cleaner..

First time trying and was very good and I don't like hot stuff and I got beef and potatoes that was really good.

Injera bread, half the experience is the authentic spongy millet (edit, not millet, teff a different gluten free grain)bread used as both plate and to scoop up morsels of deliciousness. Got a few vegetarian selections. For newbies great to go out as group & get combo platter to try different items. Only down tick is takeout lid does not snap on easily. Also they paid attention to special request on order I appreciated!

Came here tonight with two of my friends. Wow, food was absolutely delicious! We ordered several things to split and each dish we ordered was great. The coffee was also excellent. We cannot wait to be back and I’ll be ordering take out for sure, since I live in nearby wheaton. I would highly recommend coming here for Ethiopian food!

We got the Ethiopians combo and added goat to it and the food was excellent. We have had Ethiopian food many times before but this was really great and to have it so close in the suburbs and not have to drive to Chicago. One of the reviews suggested getting extra bread so we did that and we had plenty for the whole platter. Got a pound of fresh roasted Ethiopian Yirgichiffe coffee beans to go. They smell amazing. Everything was very reasonably priced for the portions.

The owner is very respectful and nice... Im new in town and I will continue to shop there for all my eatery needs and herbs and spices! Thank you for your excellent customer service skills

Really good fresh food. Staff was incredibly nice! They really make you feel at home. I love their little shop next door. Good size portions for the price. I’m definitely coming back to try each meal. The lamb and curry chicken are amazing. The curry is super spicy so watch out. There’s not too many black business in the area so I’m proud to support them and hope they continue to thrive.

The injera is true injera, teff flour. Brehani is an amazing cook and hostess. I have to say that it is the best ethiopian I've had, my favorite used to he Adis Abeda which is closed. Better yet close to home, no need to traverse the city. Her coffee is divine. She roasts herself and the beans are a strong hint of mocha undertones coming from the tardes coffee pot. Her veggies are outstanding and change daily with what she is able to get, which means not only is the food fresh but different each day. For those who watch gf/cf she does use a spiced ethipian butter which is a ghee of sorts. Check with her for details. She makes her ethiopian cheese also, very authentic, delicious, and my tummy is super happy👍 2/12/22 Did carry out, truly an abundance of amazing food, amazing flavor, and so satisfying 😁

As always we ordered way too much, but it was all delicious!! Everything on the combo was amazing, and my dish, the well done tebes, was also amazing. The injera was soo good, but soo filling. The hubby finished his combo, I helped here and there, I almost finished my tebes, just a little left over with a lot of injera. The service was so friendly and good. The atmosphere is spacious, yet so inviting. The traditional coffee served with popcorn was delicious, and I don't usually like strong coffee, but that too was awesome. We will definitely be driving the 45 minutes, give or take, to go here again. We've had Ethiopian food at another place years ago, and it was also very good, but this place beats it. Definitely worth the drive! We will be back!

I ate here for the first time with my mom last month for my birthday. The food was AMAZING! I never had Ethiopian food before and everything I had I loved. I told our waitress that this was the best food I ever had and I hope she knows that I wasn’t joking. It really was. It was worth the 1 hour drive. I will definitely be back again! Also, the coffee is out of this world! My mother and I LOVED the coffee ceremony. Both the popcorn and coffee was amazing. We ended up purchasing 3lbs of coffee. I really can’t wait to go back. I wish I lived closer. This place is truly a gem!
