So many lovely places to eat in Centre Place. This little beauty took me by surprise because on first glance I thought it was just a regular cafe but no - it’s so much more. Seating inside is limited but it does deliver big on food and service. The choice is in some ways limited but what they do have is amazing. I tried the lemon crepe. Delicioso. A good size, light and fluffy with a serve of fresh lemon on the side. there are also baguettes, omelettes, poached eggs, quiche and freshly squeezed juice. This Vietnamese run cafe has a lovely owner who is friendly and so sweet. Nothing was too much trouble. Notes: recommend you come early for lunch as it does get busy, suitable for vegetarians and vegans, not really wheelchair friendly to dine inside, kid friendly, takeaway available. Will return and try something else and this time snap a pic of my meal.

Melbourne and out of town folk should come here. Simple but absolutely delicious meals, freshly prepared by Vietnamese wife and husband. From the bacon and egg roll with coffee special, to the yummy baguettes, drop in and say hi. Support this hole in the wall

Whenever I’m working in the city I make it a must to have my lunch and coffee here. The Bahn Mi is easily the best in town and the coffee is second to none. On top of this, the proprietors Lisa and her husband are the loveliest people you will come across. The two and their team of staff are very warm, welcoming and insanely hard working. Coming here feels like visiting a good friend - they will remember everything about you and genuinely be interested - not just remember how you take your coffee. Their food, coffee, prices, service, location are all second to none. In all honesty, I do wish I could have two hour long lunch breaks just so I could sit there, people watch and chat to the owners. Great place.

Vietnamese French, me thinks. I had time today for a quick roll and drink after my Christmas shopping expedition. There was utterly harming service here. Quick and friendly. The food was good. A huge roll stuffed with pork and salad. Good spice in it. The cost was extremely modest. It’s a great little place.

We've been wanting to find a decent Vietnamese coffee for a long time, and everywhere we've been so far, it's been a pretty ordinary experience, until we found this delightful little eatery at the back end of this laneway. Ouuuuu ahhhhh!!!! Epic!!!! Just an absolute gem!!! If it wasn't late in the afternoon, I reckon we would've had two... 😁 As we were sitting on one of their little outside tables, there were two dessert crêpe menu starring at me. And they all looked so good... 😅😂🤣🤣 Well, may be I was still hungry after an earlier lunch, so, we ordered a nutella banana crêpe with vanilla ice cream. So simple, so scrumptious. Perfect with a coffee. The combo had me smiling for hours afterwards. Definitely worth a revisit next time we're in the city again. By the way, there was a curry chicken rice dish that I saw our neighbor was having too, really looked tasty, so next visit for sure, I'll do the triple combo of lunch + dessert + coffee!! Just one more note, the ladies working there, I detected an accent, and I would guess may be they're from Vietnam, perhaps that's why their coffees were so great?!! Anyway, when food and drinks are made with smiles, passion and love, they do taste better in my opinion. Thanks for an awesome experience Aix!! 😊❤️

Always walk past this place when heading to get lunch, throught about time I try, ordered the grilled chicken and fried rice dined in. Whilst waiting I kept hearing the microwave beeping over and over. Finally once my food came out, I took my first bite of the grilled chicken and realised straight away my food was completely microwaved and not freshly cooked to order. Very disappointing due to the fact I could have brought left overs from home and would of gave me a better satisfaction then eating out. Been charged $14 for a dish which I'm certain was cooked and prepared yesterday is ridiculous. Certainly won't be going back such a shame. Very simply dishes and no effort to make and still microwave meals.

Trời ơi. I usually don’t get that far down degraves st due to there being so many good eateries but I’ll make the effort to go a few extra steps when I’m craving bánh mì. A bit more expensive than what you might be used to in Springvale or Footscray but it’s packed full of crispy pork belly.

Staff belittling customers in Vietnamese, including myself; little did they know I understood their language. Ordered a crispy chicken roll and found 3 pubic hairs inside. Not a nice start to the day.

Believe the boss runs the restaurant! The place is always very welcoming to everyone. The bread roll is delicious, fresh and decently priced. Food is consistent and still have the same tastiness over the years.

Stumbled upon this place whilst walking through Melbourne with our daughter. The woman who greeted us was extremely accommodating and very very nice. We were all surprised and very happy with how good the food was. Next time we’re in Melbourne CBD we will definitely come back.

Nice little place tucked away deep in the laneway. I love a good crispy park roll but their crispy pork was dry and the salad wasn’t very fresh. On a good note the service was excellent so 3 stars for me.

Aix, an old haunt from my uni days in Melbourne, beckoned me down memory lane during a recent visit to town. Despite its transformation into a predominantly Vietnamese-style pork roll and sandwich bar, nostalgia led me to try their $23 breakfast deal: coffee and 2 poached eggs on avocado toast. Disappointingly, the coffee lacked the robust flavor of typical Melbourne brews, and the texture of the milk was so-so. The eggs on toast were a letdown, featuring supermarket packet bread with an unfortunate similarity to Tip Top white bread. The eggs were of subpar quality, cooked a little runny for Melbourne's poached egg standards, and the poorly seasoned avocado spread failed to impress. Despite friendly service, the steep price for subpar bread, improperly poached eggs, bland avocado, and forgettable coffee won't help their business and unfortunately, I can't recommend them.

Food service and vibe AMAZING! So well priced and one of the yummiest Bahn mi’s I’ve had. Anna is a gem, her happy joy vibe is the best little afternoon boost! HIGHLY RECOMMEND

We were wandering the laneways looking for a place to eat and Aix Cafe had good reviews. We ordered 2 fried rice and whilst it took 10mins or so they were also very busy. Busy is often good as the locals all seemed to stop here as well. There are tables and chairs but not many so we took our lunch else where. Food was good and I wpuld recommend.

21/4/23 no pretentious cafe with a great view outside along centre place. Super friendly service that was great. First time seeing a Vegemite Crepe on a menu so had to try that. Bonus points for having Sriracha Sauce on the table 🔥

My son and I called into have lunch and got a freshly squeezed juice and crispy roast pork belly roll , omg it was so amazing!! The juice alone was so filling, a huge size and so tasty 😋 and then came our rolls that were not only delicious but really big and filling , great service and extremely friendly, I highly recommend this place !! $38 for the 2 of us is responsible especially when you walk away 💯 satisfied 😋😋

Super friendly staff, we were very happy with our meals (And the price): I had the vegan bánh mì and my partner had a crêpe. Very happy we stumbled on this place!

Crepe was good, vanilla milkshake was not worth of money.

This little niche French Creperie with a Vietnamese influence, you may think hmm. FYI there are still some old quarters of French in Vietnam. This place is petite, dining in and outside, so you can do the Parisian thing, have your yummy crepes and enjoy the passer bys! Value for money; my crepe base was fairly thick, not toilet paper thin, with 4 slices of ham, 4 slices of Swiss cheese and copious amounts of tomato. The coffee was good too. Well worth a visit. Staff a very welcoming and friendly. Bon Appetite, Au revoir

A wonderful and welcoming atmosphere, the staff were nice and understanding with the most delicious nutella, strawberry and ice cream crepe, the ratio was great and even though the shop was on the smaller side it was tucked away in one of melbournes astounding laneways, a true diamond in the rough.

Super delicious banh mi! The roll was fresh and cruncy and the fillings were amazing. The fresh juices are beautiful. We had an orange juice and a watermelon, apple and mint juice 😋

Super delicious vegan bahn mi with crispy yet juicy tofu! The baguette used is fresh and on another level from the rest of the pack. My friends hoovered up their pork belly bahn mis and we washed down our delicious brunch with some strong Vietnamese coffee. I personally prefer thinner crepes loaded with syrup but the rest of my group were very impressed (these are served with fresh cream) with the choices of filling. In my mind, I still taste the chocolate and hazelnut crepe. I cannot wait to go back for more. Pictured here: vegan tofu bahn mi and apple & cinnamon crepe

Lovely little cafe. The crepes are great, but the Banh Mi here is amazing!

Nice crepes and coffee! The rolls are pre-made so I didn't get one of those... Friendly and attentive staff.
