Now there are plenty of places to "learn" jiu jitsu and boxing, but only a couple of them are top notch. New Breed is one of the best hands down. Their instructors are great and hold everyone accountable while still coaching and teaching the right way. The kids classes are solid as can be my boys have been here for years so this is a long overdue review, but they absolutely love coming here and training even on hard days when they get pushed past their comfort zone. Highly recommend to anyone new or experienced!

I absolutely love it here!!! Everyone is beyond welcoming and supportive! I came in with no BJJ experience and brought a friend with me on my first day. I‘ll admit it was intimidating at first and it completely tested my comfort boundaries but I was quickly reassured that New Breed is a safe space to be vulnerable and that everyone understands where you’re coming from. They’re very patient and will walk you through any questions you have. When I say everyone, I really do mean everyone!! And from all belt levels too, not just the instructors!! It’s a very encouraging community and they want to see you grow! Highly recommend! You’ll have a remarkable experience every time you go in 🙌🏼

I dropped in for a trial class and I was impressed by how engaging the techniques, warmups, and sparring was. The takedown/pulling guard warm ups were helpful for my game and the guard passing techniques we drill make sense. The sparring was my favorite part of the class because of how many high-level technical guys there were. Overall, this is a 10/10 gym and I will be coming back for open mats if I have time.

Excellent training facility. Top-notch instruction. If you're in the area, this is the place to train! I have been training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for 1.5 years and I have recently visited here and trained there several days while in Chicago - I looked up the school online - all good reviews on Yelp - I called, left a message and they called me right back and invited me down. All of the instructors and the students that I met were friendly and helpful in teaching me. Real down to earth people. Highly Recommended.

My flight out of Chicago for the ADCC trials was delayed and managed to drop in to train during my layover, everyone was super welcoming, quality/technical JiuJitsu, & a great facility. 10/10 recommend!

No one ever said they wished they'd started training BJJ later in life, so come on in and train! New Breed is an ego-free environment with well-rounded training partners and competitive and personable coaches. I would highly recommend it to any experienced BJJ practitioner or newcomer to the sport.

One of the best gyms with the most welcoming and knowledgeable instructors. New Breed is exceptional in it’s devotion to their student’s development and to their extremely comfortable and supportive atmosphere. This is one of the few places where anyone can walk in and immediately feel supported. Whether you are just beginning your Jiu Jitsu journey or are a seasoned practitioner, this place will guide you in the right direction.

This Jiu Jitsu school exceeded all my expectations. The instructors are not only skilled practitioners but also exceptional teachers, breaking down complex techniques into understandable steps. I've seen significant improvements in my technique since joining. Without a doubt, this is a top-notch school that I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone interested in Jiu Jitsu.

I am 50 and started training in BJJ at Newbreed one year ago. BJJ has been absolutely amazing for my health both mental and physical. And great for confidence. My kids also train here. Great classes for all ages. Mark, Sam and Mykee and all the coaches are top notch. What are you waiting for??? Get in here….

High level controlled intensity rounds and welcoming and clean environment. Coach Vives leads the class with great instruction and direction. Great gym to drop in at or train if looking in the area!

Read some of the negative reviews. Yeah this is a tough room. Yeah Mark doesn’t particularly worry about “feelings.” He and his cadre of black belts teach high level bjj in a systematic manner. I’ve been training on and off in bjj/grappling since 2007, I’ve been to a lot of gyms in the area and I came here as a purple belt. This place is unique. Find me a place where the rest of the colored belts in the room are outnumbered by black belts. Typically 6+ helpful, dynamite practitioners. This is the less popular and less well attended mid day class too. Want to train with mindful, training partners who don’t have egos? 3/4 of this class is middle aged cops/firemen. We don’t want to hurt anyone or be hurt. But 5-6 hard training rolls after an hour + of technique is standard. Raising champs over here. Check out the ibjjf results if you don’t believe me.

Everybody in here just loves to train. We get charged just enough for the lights to stay on. The community there brings out the best in people. Diamond in the rough worth stopping by.
