Great opticians - revisited after having to go local during lockdown. Boots have better machines and give a much better eye test / workable-for-the-end-user prescription (I won't say 'accurate' - as its highly subjective) - PLUS their own brand specs are really quite decent (i.e. aesthetically neutral) and cheap, the complete specs price include lenses AND coatings, and their buy-one-get-one-half-price offers actually work - unlike another well known chain I won't mention....

Unfortunately not a great chain of events. First set of two pairs of glasses were given out to a stranger. I was then asked if I had forgotten that I had actually collected them which was rather insulting. The second replacement set of two was missing one pair as they were lost in transit. Still waiting after a month. I’d give one star but it looks like I’m just a negative moaner but I wouldn’t use Boots again. I also put in an internal complaint online two weeks ago.Yet to hear back which is equally disappointing.

Disappointing service on more than one occasion. Last year I made an appointment for a contact lens prescription check-up. Came in and had the exam, and was then offered frames. When I explained I wanted to order more contact lenses they said I would need another exam, and charged me for both. I went in today to order new reading glasses with my last prescription (from this branch) and the woman said she would like to clarify the reading distance I will use the for. When I showed her arm's length, she said this prescription wasn't suitable for arm's length, I would need another eye exam. I said goodbye.

Optician was amazing he deserves 5 stars but the treatment afterwards/ ordering new glasses was dreadful. Sales assistant, young bossy girl, was judgemental telling me my eye test was free because I was national health ( I have taken out a plan) and told me to look at the boots selection of glasses. To top that, reading glasses were ordered and I needed varifocals. My glasses broke during lockdown and I d waited ages for an appointment. I was understandably upset and angry when I discovered I needed to wait another 2 weeks. I noticed this young girl laughing and sneering to her friends at the counter. I confronted her. This optician is near the school where I teach and I have always been treated very well over the 14 years I have been there.

Walked in to ask about eye test and as soon as they saw me, they all disappeared. Two just turned around and went into the back room. A female assistant went to see a lady who was waiting for her (fair enough). I thought someone will come and see me but few minutes was gone and again a male assistant popped out with some papers in his hands, saw me, turned around and was gone again. No eye contact. No hallo, I will be shortly with you. I just left the shop thinking very bad service.

All staff were friendly and helpful. I came early and asked if they could call me if a slot became free before my arranged time, they did. They explained what was happening and asked if I had any questions. Top marks for service.

I just wanted to say what a great store the Bishopsgate store is. The staff are always friendly and cannot do enough for you. I’d like to give a special mention to Daniel and Nina who I mainly dealt with when at the store. I don’t know if it’s just good luck or the way to the staff are trained or managed at the bishops gate store, but whatever the reason long may it continue :)

I was quite anxious when I got to the Bishopsgate store, since I was visiting London, had a problem with my lenses and had no replacement. I received the best service possible from Delron, who got all the necessary details from my optician and promptly provided me with the perfect replacement. His attentiveness, professionalism and kindness saved the day! Thank you Delron!

Extremely unprofessional and inexperienced. This is how the dialogue went with the "optician" : You may have Glocama But nothing to worry about You have metal rust in your eye - It's really common But nothing to worry about Your veins look unusual But nothing to worry about I'm referring you URGENTLY to see an ophthalmologist. You must go ASAP. BUT NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT Talk about mixed messages and confusing bedside manner. Have no confidence in diagnosis nor prescription. Both in bin! Now booking privately elsewhere. This is worse than NHS even!

I very rarely leave unhappy reviews or reviews about places in general. I have previously had history with Boots opticians before and it was as good as it could be. I have booked myself an eye test for Monday at 17, having to cancel my therapy appointment and ask permission to leave earlier from work. I have arrived for my appointment and have been informed that I have been sent a message about my appointment being cancelled and patients are seen based on an urgency matter. Who decides which problems are more urgent than the others? Maybe my situation matters as much. The explanation of my appointment being cancelled was: “one of the clinicians called in sick today”. I feel like this has been resolved in a very unprofessional manner, some people have busy lives and maybe they can only see a doctor when they book their appointments!!! Why have I been called to confirm my appointment prior to this if they were anyways going to cancel it?

The lady dealing with my specs choice didn't tell me clearly I could have gotten anti reflection free of charge but she said I would get it if I paid the £40 extra which I didn't want. When I collected my glasses Dell, kindly advised I could have gotten it included in the price and offered to replace the lenses, however having to travel shortly I refused because I'm going to need glasses. This will involve having to return in branch, be without glasses for few more days and then return to collect, which is something that could have been avoided in the first place if the lady had told me. That's quite disappointing for a big brand like boots and decrease the level of customer's experience.

I was pleasantly surprised today, usually I get rude women when I go for my yearly appointment . Walking in today I noticed way more guys than usual and all my tests were carried out by males. It was great, they were so lovely all of them and very very professional . Nice to have a good experience here. Thanks guys for today you were all lovely.

I have been coming to the Bishopsgate branch for close to 30 years. The service continues to be wonderful, and it is always good to see longstanding staff there, like Sam who did my contact lens care appointment. The eye examinations are very thorough and staff are very helpful in answering questions, and also patient in their customer aftercare, making sure that that everything is working well re contact lens and glasses (both sight wise and frame comfort). Highly recommend these opticians!

I was on holidays in London for a limited time in October 2022 and was looking to get my glasses changed having done there a few years back I'd to say thank you to the staff there, in particular to Lamisa who went beyond her duties and demonstrated professionalism and kindness. On top of that English not being my first language I had my son helping with the translation translation. I was probably asking more questions that I should lol yet Lamisa did not fail in answering all of them. I am VERY satisfied I got my new glasses on time despite the limited deadline and will come back again in the future.

I am surprised with the poor ratings, as the members of the team at this branch are just amazing! All very professional, caring and attentive; coming to fit lenses in a pair of glasses, I did certainly receive the best service possible from the eye test till the collection of my glasses. I am very grateful to all the great people working here - especially to the young lady called Viktoria - and I do highly recommend this branch if you do care about your eyes. The only let down for me is the Boots pricing: I paid £315 for Essilor lenses to be fit although I had my own pair of glasses already. Be aware that the eye tests are not free anymore, even with a purchase you are charged £25 (but the eye test if worth every penny).

the optometrist seemed polite and competent but i have to deduct a couple of stars for refusing to accept payment in cash. i spend money every day in london and this has been the only business recently where cash was a problem.

I really can't reccomended this store at all. I had an appointment for a contact lenses trial (with eye test) and I was told that I could get a monthly fee trial for the coloured lenses. The optometrist ordered them. When I came back today for my trial, I was told that it wasn't a trial for monthly lenses but in fact a demo for the colour. Rather than admit there was a mistake made by the optometrist that saw me, they said that I'd have to pay £50+ to get a prescription colour lense. I refuse to pay so much money for something that I don't even know if I'll get on with. That's why I wanted a trial. I then asked for a trial of plain lenses and was told that I'd have to buy the solution for that one which I'm pretty sure is not correct. As I was already quite annoyed (and understandably), I decided to leave without any trial. I'd much rather go else where. This feels like a complete waste of my time. Highly disappointing.

I have been using this opticians for ten years and I have never had a problem with the staff or the service at this location. However, Boots as an opticians provider have started to be unreliable, discontinuing contact lenses more than once etc. But still, cannot fault the staff who work at the Boots Bishopsgate opticians.

Very disappointing experience and rude optometrist. Also if you don't pay attention they don't give you your prescription for contact lenses for exemple so you can't purchase lenses anywhere else. i'm still trying to get mine even if I paid for it!

We were due to go to a restaurant booking and my partner had left his mask at home. Having popped into the store and kindly explained the situation the customer service representative offered to give my partner a face mask for free. Exceptional service and got us out of a very tight situation as we were running late for our meal that was prepaid for. Many thanks it was greatly appreciated!
