Very good place to visit. You can see here lots of monkeys in a small area.According to religious faith a portion (tukura in assamese)of goddess SATI falls here and thats why the place is known as Tukreswari. It was constructed by Zamindar of Bijni Estate King Kumud Narayana during 17 th Century . Main mandir is located at the top of the hill, you can climb it with the help of built in stairs. But the climbing is very stressful because of the staircases. ..,but the beauty of the surrounding once you reach the top is really worth it. A must visit place in Goalpara District and located near NH 37. The main attraction of this temple is the monkeys. The population of monkeys in this temple is very very high.

What a lovely and divine place. Though we have not been able to go to the main Mandir atop the hill due to the fear of monkeys. But the location is very beautiful.

Nice location with a good environment. But unfortunately, being visitors we are not allowed to enter and climb on the top of the hill. They told us only worshipers are allowed not visitors. They allowed visitors only after getting permission from the authority or DC

This is beautiful place. It is believed to have a monkey king. Many monkeys can be seen here. People come here from many distant countries and abroad. It is a beautiful place to see. It is a mountainous place with many rocks full of trees. The Durga Puja festival is presented here in a very big way.

Almost 700 steps above you can find Maa Durga Temple . Also Mahadev temple is there. You can see Panch Pandav,Ganesha Murti over there. The place is so mesmerizing but only fear is from the monkey's so take one guide when you go to the hilltop . Guide is available there in the Temple. Our Guide name was " Korneswar ".

Tukreswari Temple is a famous religious spot located by the side of National Highways 37 at Tukura about 15th KM from Goalpara Town. As per religious faith a portion of (TUKURA) the Goddess Sati falls in this place and therefore the temple is known as Tukreswari. The temple has been established on top of the Tukreswari hill and a Shiva Temple has also been established on the top of the hill along with the Temple of JOYA- VIJOYA. Having known about the unseen power of Goddess Tukura and the Shiva Temple which were in infancy stage the Zamindar Of Bijni Estate constructed the Temple and donated a sizable plot of land for the same. The Monkey population of the temple is very high and they have got their King and Queen which is a remarkable aspect of the temple.

Tukreswari Temple is one of the ancient temple of ancient Assam. It is believed that a body part (Thigh) of Goddess Sati consort of Lord Shiva dropped here at hilltop. Since then, it has been regarded as one of the Shakti Peethas of Assam. Devotess throng to this place in huge numbers in order to make their wish fullfiled. There are two temples located in this premise. One is located below at plain, and the other is located at the top of hill. Both the temples are equally important. In order to reach the hilltop temple one need to climb up the hill by stairs. There are around 800 steps to be covered to reach the hilltop temple. If you are physically weak and undergoing some major disease, better to consider your climb. There are a lot of monkeys at the hill. Monkeys would step beside you and snatch everything whatever you carry in your hands. So I suggest you to go in group and hold a stick to frighten the monkeys. However monkeys dont attack humans. They are only after your packets of offerings. The sight is mesmerising and soothing. If you want to enjoy the scerenity and calmness of nature, then you will surely like this place. Tukreswari is 15 km away from Goalpara town and 122 km from Guwahati. If you are interested you can travel to Goalpara by train and then take a hired vehicle or share tempo at low price.

Tukreswari Temple (also known as Tukreswari Devalaya) in Goalpara district, Assam is an ancient Hindu temple and is dedicated to Sati as Shakti Peetha. Shakti Peethas are shrines or divine places of Sati, believed to have enshrined with the presence of Shakti due to the falling of body parts of the corpse of Sati. It is believed that an enraged Shiva performed the Tandava dance with Sati's charred body, which led her body came apart and the pieces fell at different places on earth.
