I was desperate to look for an English pub with good service and quantity portion, look no further. All of the staff in Fox & Hounds are very friendly and attentive. The portion is huge! Trust me, 1 serve of Sunday roasted lunch can easily be shared between 2 starving people or even teenager boys. They don't have doggie bag or except takeaway so keep it in mind, just order the right amount of food to avoid food waste. The ambiance is great, the decoration is impressive with every corner is so eye catching. The only minus thing that roasted beef was a bit chewy, but overall was very good lunch/dayout and worth to visit. I will come back for sure.

We took my Brother here as he was visiting us on holiday, the first time was amazing, with Daleks and Dr Who characters everywhere, We just went for a 2nd time, It is truly a wonderful atmosphere, the staff are absolutely first rate, great customer service both times the meals where excellent very well cooked and good portions. It is without doubt the best experience. It looks just like an English Pub. Well worth a visit. The Doctor Who memorabilia is no longer there, but a wonderful place

This is a old style British Pub and it is fantastic. Food was great, service was great. Beer was amazing and served in old pint jugs which I haven't seen in the UK for 20 yrs. The whole pub is full of UK memorabilia ,football scarfs and Dr Who stuff and was like going back in time. Really great place, highly recommended.

If you want a quintessential English pub experience, this is it. Each of the rooms is full of the best of British charm and there's a beer garden and dog friendly seating outside too. Service is warm and friendly and the menu full of traditional favourites. The portions are really generous - we loved our pies and Cornish pasties. Coming here is more than just a feed, it's an experience.

Great day out, great atmosphere 😁 Excellent range of classic English food and some standard fare as well. Certainly worth a visit if you can find the time to head out there. I had the Toad in a hole and Hot English Mustard, absolutely perfect 😊

Would give 6 stars if Google allowed. Wow, what a fantastic pub. Other than bright Queensland sun trying to get through the blinds, once inside feels exactly like you are in the UK. The Sunday roast just spectacular, Yorkshire pudding and all. Guiness and other UK beers on tap, just so good. Staff were legends looking after us while we enjoyed an amazing lunch with family in August 2023. Well done to all the Fox & Hounds team 👍

Impressive British menu. Fried cod, curry and pot pie all cooked well and nicely presented. Lots of decor and memorabilia. An Aladdin's cave. Friendly and attentive staff. Guinness on tap. The seating is very uncomfortable. I saw a chef blowing her nose and then going back to cooking without washing her hands. The Welsh rarebit didn't seem authentic - lots of wholegrain mustard and Worcestershire sauce spread on bread with a bit of grated cheese on top, grilled. Very vinegary. Chicken tenders were floury and soggy. A very small serving of that (3 tenderloins) and the crumbed mushrooms (about 1.5 regular mushrooms when cut up) for $14 each. My family enjoyed it, but me, not so much. Thanks.

You can dress this place up with as much British memorabilia as you please, but if you’re going to serve British fayre, at least make it authentic. This food resembled school dinners served in British schools in the 70s. Anybody who thinks this is good food, has not tasted traditional English roast dinner served in a traditional English pub. The food was boiled, stewed, unpeeled and served before you could barely get your feet under the table. This is an insult to true, traditional and tasty English food. I’d recommend giving this place a miss.

Been wanting to go here for awhile after hearing about the unique English pub interior. It certainly was a bit crazy . We also went because we saw they had advertised a cosy fire . It was a very cold winters night and we were hoping for a fire . They do have one in the seating area off to one side but we were sat on the other side of the entrance so there was no fire for us and other patrons . A bit of a let down when you are looking forward to it . Food was a bit unique too so don’t expect a normal type menu . It can be a bit overwhelming for a fussy eater . The menu states they don’t do doggy bags so you can’t take left overs home . The chicken schnitzel was huge so it’s a shame you have to waste the extra food . We ordered the vegetarian special ( mushroom casserole) and the chicken schnitzel. Both meals were a good size . They were ok taste wise but nothing special. Service was great , staff friendly. There is not much open for dinner around Mt Tamborine at night mid week so this is definitely a great option .

Popped in for a pint of Tetley's whilst visiting Tamborine Mountain. Unfortunately didn't get to sample the menu as the pub was unusually busy. Despite this enjoyed our drinks and English crisps in the winter sunshine 👍 Parking can be an issue so book ahead to avoid disappointment

What a lovely example of an English Pub. Great menu. Very friendly staff too. Would highly recommend it.

As an English couple from County Durham, this pub is pretty close to an English pub but a little "on the nose" which we loved! My partner was particularly impressed with the Middlesbrough and Darlington FC scarves. Don't expect fine dining in a British pub but it was a hearty warm meal. The service was great so please tell the waitress to stop apologising for everything. It would be better to change sticky date pudding to sticky toffee pudding on the menu in keeping with the theme. Thank you!

A true English experience. Expertly decorated and decked out in various English and Irish regalia. Food was great and tastes just like home (quoted by the Englishman!) The team were lovely and Warren was a really attentive server. If you're in the area, or even if you're not, give it a visit! It's definitely worth it!

The atmosphere is perfection! We just happen to visit during their Christmas in July festivities. The decorations, music, and cosy ambiance really made us feel we were somewhere else. Food was divine. Family friendly. Bookings highly recommended on the weekends. A true hidden gem of the Gold Coast. Not to be missed! Can't wait to go back.

Loved it. It felt like I was back in England at my local. Had the road in the hole and was transported back to my childhood

  • 5/5 Bianca A. 2 years ago on Google
The ambience is fantastic! As is the service. The food is very English pub fare. Most things come with mashed potatoes and overcooked carrots and peas. But the whole experience is like an English pub so you expect that! Plus The Doctor memorabilia they currently have is very fun! Definitely a place worth going to!

We arrived late in the day, 20 to 3, and the staff were so friendly they let us order and stay til close to 4 without hurrying us along (even though they close at 3pm during the week). The food was outstanding my partner and I have never had a lamb shanks so delicious in our lives! The place is adorably decorated for Christmas in July, I really felt like I was in Europe. Will definitely be coming back here, 10/10!

The last time for us unfortunately. I said this the last time we visited too but this time it’s definitely over. Barely anyone there and still had to go to find someone to serve us. Friendly service once found though. Roast was not nice, it was cold, and pumpkin undercooked. Don’t go here looking for crispy roast potatoes either. Choc fudge cake was bland. The Eton Mess was great! The worst thing is that the inside of the property is just not clean. Dirty windows, window ledges, the glass to the doors separating the rooms is gross. Couple this with the fact that the rooms are full of dirty dusty memorabilia that doesn’t fit the surroundings. It’s such a shame because there is a huge market for a decent English roast and this is such a pretty building and garden outside. It’s just not for us as it is unfortunately. :-(

We had booked a lunch here for a birthday, and the staff were so attentive and accommodating of our special requests. The food was well-worth the price, with delicious chocolate cake. On top of it all was the eclectic collection of memorabilia that made it feel authentic. Would definitely recommend!

First time here and it won't be our last. The Fox & Hound was full of atmosphere & memorabilia. Food, which was traditional roast with all the trimmings, was just beautiful. Desserts were gorgeous too, the rhubarb & apple crumble was like a warm hug. So lovely to have the fire blazing, we definitely left with a warm glow on our face. Thank you to our waitress Courtney, she was super friendly and really looked after us. We can't wait to come back, there's so much on the menu to try out 🙌

This place is a green bursting with English charm. The staff are super friendly and helpful, and our food showed up right on time. They've totally nailed the English pub look and feel to the point where you might forget you're in Australia. I can't vouch for all the food since I only had a couple of light starters, but the dishes I saw at other tables looked delicious. The whole vibe is lovely and cozy – definitely gonna hit this spot up again next time we're up the mountain!

Step inside an old English pub. Inside and out, they have created a wonderful atmosphere with quirky little curiosities everywhere. The food was amazing as was the portion sizes! Take your friends for an outing but play it safe and book ahead, it can get very busy. We were having such a good time I forgot to take photos!

Had lunch here today, really enjoyed it. Best fish and chips I've had in a long time. We all had 3 courses and we all enjoyed each one. Saying that although I enjoyed the Knickerbocca Glory, my favorite one is the one I had in Scarborough UK. The staff were friendly, service was good. They arranged a good table to cater for the wheelchair with easy access to the disabled toilets. We will be visiting again. Thank you.

Had lunch here with a friend on our way to Mount Tamborine for a few nights. There were 2 bus loads of people enjoying "Christmas In July" when we arrived. But, considering this, the service was very good, and we were served in a quick and timely manner. Since I wasn't driving I had a Christmas Cocktail. I have attached a photo of my cocktail, the specials that were available today and the red phone booth at the front of the pub.

Great English pub, our family has been coming here for years. Fantastic Christmas lunch last year. Another great birthday meal and proper English beer today. Staff always friendly. Suggest to book a table and definitely worth a visit 😀

A slice of Blighty set in the lush scenery of Wongawallan. Had a lovely drive out to the Fox and Hounds today for my husband's birthday. When you walk in you het that great British pub feeling! The staff are fabulous with excellent customer service. There's plenty to see with lots of British knick knacks and memorabilia that make you reminiscent. We had the prawn cocktail (never would have prawns that big in the UK!!) and breaded mushroom starters, followed by Cornish pasty and the liver and bacon. Delicious! Even got a packet of Pickled Onion Monster Munch for the drive home. Looking forward to going back as I got pie envy when I saw the beef and Guinness pie arrive to the table next door!

Well , what can I say this little gold nugget located on the Gold Coast is one of the best themed pubs I have visited, the staff where friendly and welcoming, food was beautiful with the onion rings and Aoli sauce something out of this world, there is so much to see in this pub, every time you look at the walls you see something new. If you haven’t visited this place and you have the opportunity to do so “just do it” . This will now be a regular stop on our date days

  • 5/5 Anne C. 11 months ago on Google
This was our first visit here. We loved the wonderful atmosphere and charm of this English/British Pub out in the country. The decor was fantastic with lots of traditional British nic-nacs. The menu is also very British. I was disappointed they didn't have the scotch eggs on the menu that day, but oh my goodness, if you order the Eaton's mess, make sure you are sharing it. It's huge. My mother commented how the staff were really nice, something you dont experience as much in the city these days. Between four of us we ate pigs in blankets, ribs, a curry, chips with gravy, and we couldn't go there without having some Yorkshire pudding and Eaton's Mess.

We have been hoping to visit for such a long time. A weekday lunch was our chance to visit. Lovely authentic pub atmosphere. Potato and Leek soup was delcious, cheese and garlic bread also great. Star dish was the Beef and Guinness pie. The beef cheek was also a winner. We will be back for the roast.

Very authentic English themed pub midway on the steep Oxenford-mount Tamborine climb Enjoyed the pies greatly!! And a great range of genuine English beer! Look out for the bright red double Decker London by when you come around the corner and you won’t miss it!

•Everyone should visit• Absolutely brilliant pub. Did you know this pub was built in the 1700's in Kent, in the UK, then closed in 1987. The interior and most of the memorabilia, beer taps, fire place etc(see picture for more info) were popped into 5 shipping containers and brought all the way to Australia and in 2007, it became the Sussex Arms, now the Fox and Hounds. Just fantastic. This is the best pub in Australia! Hands down. Food was delicious and the menu was impressive. Lots of vegan options. A pub that gives chips, rice and papadums with curry a is a win and curry sauce with chips! They have vinegar and mustard on the tables. Can you tell how impressed I am 😀 The staff I spoke with were genuine, lovely humans. Some of the nicest I've encountered while exploring Australia. Beer garden is quintessential British beer garden-perfect for kids and in turn, parents. Go even for a beer, you won't regret it.

  • 4/5 J D. 1 year ago on Google
This really does seem like a proper British pub, loads of character!!! Lovely beer garden out the back too. My only small complaint is that they need aircon in the bathrooms - like a sauna in there!! But great staff and an awesome authentic menu.

The last time we visited was a year ago and the service was terrible. We decided to give it another go today. Never again.... We arrived for a 1pm booking, chose what we wanted and the waitress came to take our order, she started by saying, 'let me tell you what is not available today', reeled off almost the entirety of the starters and several of the mains. so we opted no started and a main that was available, almost an hour later and still no food so we asked when it would be ready the response was priceless..... "Well there was an hour and half wait time what time did you arrive? we arrived at 1pm, ok so that's only an hour!!!!" My response was to cancel the meal but she did go away and came back to advise that our meals were being plated up, in the meantime there were 2 others tables that had been waiting over an hour for their food and were obviously getting frustrated too. Meals arrived, 2 cod , chips and mushy peas, peas were cold, plate was full of coleslaw. Not nice at all. It's a great place to visit and the menu is slightly overpriced for what you get but I'm afraid its the last time we visit purely because of the above, you cannot expect to run a business with less than half the menu and making people wait for such along time for pub food!

The decor is overdone and confused which makes the pub feel a bit tacky. We also felt the food is overpriced, it is okay but not worth the cost.

Great English Food and Ale. Had Toad in the hole with Lincolnshire Sausages which is where we are originally from in the UK and they were like home. Best we have had in the 11 years we have been here. Would highly recomend a trip out and stop over for Lunch anytime. We had Sunday lunch and was awsome. Great service and speedy food delivery.

First visit and what an absolute feast on the eyes. The authenticity of a traditional English pub is perfect, right down to the posters, pictures and signs displayed. Different areas and rooms are set up different styles from traditional English, Scottish and Irish with corresponding foods and drinks. The staff also make the place feel right. As a group of 8 we tried most dishes available and they were all excellent in quality, authenticity and the sizes were huge. A long drive to visit but such a delight. I can see the tribe having family m3als here often.

I've driven past this place for years wondering what it was like, however never stopped in until a few weeks ago. Since then I've been in about 6 times for lunch, dinner or just for the foxy lady's (a delicious sweet ginger cider 😉). The staff are awesome, atmosphere inside is interesting and charming, outdoor beer garden is great and the chef makes all the curries...all delectable especially with chips! Sometimes the company does alright too 😜 💯💥👌👊👍

Great atmosphere. Food is amazinnnggg. Unfortunately they were unexpectedly busy when we went and we had to wait for 1.5 hours to get our food on a Monday. Also half their menu wasn't even available which really sucked. Was really looking forward to a roast, or a pie even. Got our hopes up high and were disappointed a bit
