I'll start with the good - the schnitzel was very nice, a little light on the crumb but juicy and delicious. Mash and sauerkraut were good too. TLDR; -1 for kids prices being out of this world stupid for what is served -1 really poor pork knuckle, dry and just not nice at all -1 Beer was flat.. I mean flat Dunkel in bavaria would likely get you shutdown!!! -0 Service staff really need some training but its a sign of the times - normally would take 1 off for that but its tough. I know restaurants are doing it tough with Covid 19 and subsequently with getting staff in some of the more "remote areas". But I must say I am very disappointed to say the least - Kids meals are stupidly overpriced for sausage and chips.. I mean $17? If it came with a drink and maybe a small dessert.. Now I love my bavarian food and I have been all over Bavaria and tasted some of the best in the region. The place claims to have the best pork knuckle in Australia.. Well Ive had about 10 in Australia and this was probably the worst, really disappointed rather than having juicy "pulled" pork on the bone it was more like a dry chunk of ham on the bone.. Then the beers, i understand that selection may be tough but for a Bavarian grill house to serve a "beer" that didnt even bubble? really? And finally the wait staff, again I am sure Covid and lack of selection is to blame but they were all very young and clearly inexperienced. I know the struggles are real so won't take away points for that; but really they need training in all aspects from waiting the table to bringing plates, cutlery and finally taking away when meal finished. I recall eating here many moons ago and it was excellent.

We went to this place for lunch on Saturday, with hesitation, as we had read bad reviews. We thought that that couldnโ€™t possibly be that bad and that we should give it a try. We were probably the first customers so our orders were taken right away and drinks came out quickly. When the food came out shortly thereafter, we realized why this place got many bad reviews. I ordered a schnitzel but what was presented in front of me in less than 7 mins from ordering looked nothing like ones I knew. It resembled KFCโ€™s tenders, only that they are more crispy and tastier. The so-called schnitzel looked and tasted like cheap frozen microwave food, and Iโ€™m sure it was just heated up in a microwave. It wasnโ€™t soggy but the thick crust had no texture. My partnerโ€™s pie was the same. Frozen microwave food, except the four twenty frozen pies from supermarkets had a more authentic pie crust. They were $29 each. Overpriced for what they were. Mushed potato and juice were the highlight of the lunch. Staff were friendly and trying their best.

Beer hall setting with average food. The pork knuckle is enough for 2 or 3 people, so make sure to share. I've had much better ones, however! The buzzing flies were a real nuisance, detracting from my enjoyment. The beer was good.

We stopped as we drove through Mount Tambourine as I saw they advertised traditional German food. WEDDING FACILITIES Beautiful wedding chapel and reception area. I loved how the Gazebo floated on water, very romantic. RESTAURANT A gorgeous little bridge led you to a small restaurant with uniformed staff in German traditional dress. The interior was very well decorated and we were greeted warmly upon arrival. MENU I was visiting from Brisbane with me daughter for the day. While I well know the time and preparation that goes into German food (Family German) I could not justify $32+ each for a main meal at lunchtime. An older couple stopped debating over the menu for over 5 minutes and then left. A group of 10 friends with German backpackers arrived after us. They waited to be seated. They sat for 5 minutes and after viewing the prices all left at the same time we did. SUGGESTION FROM A BUSINESS WOMAN The prices for lunch are too expensive. Management/owners really need a reality check, you have so much going for you with location, atmosphere and look. Yet, you LOST 14 people due to your excessive pricing in the space of 10 minutes. Seriously take stock of your lunch menu and change it to accommodate a more budget conscious clientelle.

Food was incredible, restaurant was odd in a good quirky way. We shared a Bavarian Platter between two of us and it was just like eating great food in Europe. Only 2 available beers, both genuine German. A little pricey but If youโ€™re Hungary and want a meaty dinner this is the place for you!

A really pretty restaurant but too bad the Brewery is closed due to the pandemic. We had their home draft beer which tasted pretty good in my opinion as it was fresh from a new keg with lots of bubbles. I would love to try out their lunch menu but the place is only open from 11-4pm. It is manned by a pretty, friendly and helpful girl and a little kitty named Punni. The location is just across the street from Rotary lookout.

Great good, good price and good quantity, friendly staff. Beautifully set up, quaint German style. Odd Xmas decorations. Wonderful seating overlooking a pond. Would return and recommend.

Nice place to stop while exploring the mountain, however food was pretty average and the place lacked atmosphere. Food came out looking nice but didn't really taste like anything.... sadly wouldn't go back

If you have a child who makes a bit of a mess while eating, this place is not for you. We were humiliated by an old man (we assume heโ€™s the owner) during our meal, in front of other diners. We have been to far nicer restaurants with our 11 month old, and have never received such a treatment. We ALWAYS make sure to clean up whatever mess our son leaves. As for the food, bland comes to mind. At one point he said, โ€œThis isnโ€™t a Chinese restaurant!โ€ and I agree with him. Chinese restaurants know how to add flavour to their food. Lastly, if you donโ€™t want kids to dine in your restaurant, donโ€™t provide high chairs.

Only giving 2 stars as the lemon lime and bitters was the only good thing about the meal and the gardens were nice! 2 of the main beers were not available. The two meals we wanted weren't available so we ended up having the pork belly which was soggy and you could tell was thrown in the deep fryer to heat up. Was dry on the bottom and still very fatty and unpleasant to eat on the top. At $38 a plate you would expect a high standard of food! Ridiculous. They did accommodate us though which was nice as they only had one kids meal of sausages and Chips for $17 (which is a lot for a kids meal) but I asked if they could do a chicken schnitzel which they agreed. It came out non crumbed (like they took the crumb off it) and unappealing. Sauerkraut tasted like it was canned. Mashed potato was dry, bland and cold. Save your money and go somewhere else!! I wish I read the reviews. This place has so much potential and it's so neglected and obviously the chef is lacking the creative passion. Disappointed to spend $120 on half eaten meals that were rubbish! Shame!

We read the previous reviews and still decided to give it a chance. Unfortunately recent reviews were true. If this is the best German food outside of Germany, then I strongly recommend you go for another cuisine. One word to describe this place - Uninspired.

Foul, revolting and disgusting. Unfortunately my family and I dined here recently. The food was repulsive, the service was terrible. The staff were incredibly rude and the restaurant itself was dusty, filled with cobwebs, plus it is physically falling apart. The girls there hiding in the bar (in no uniform, dressed like slobs) could not have been more unwelcoming. They were unhelpful and very disrespectful. They took pleasure in telling us what couldnโ€™t be done. For example, we asked very kindly for a small bowl of fries for our kids โ€“ the brunette girl took delight in telling us that this was impossible. Instead, we had to order the chips with sausage. This was $17, for a handful of defrosted fries and one single disgusting sausage. The food we had was disgusting, we couldnโ€™t even get through half of it. We all felt sick afterwards and it was overpriced. They didnโ€™t even have the lights turned on inside. No music, no atmosphere. The cutlery was dirty and the seats were uncomfortable. This was without a doubt the single worst dining experience I have ever had in my life. If youโ€™re reading this before you actually visit this dump โ€“ STOP, donโ€™t go. Save yourselves the immense disappointment. The owner should be mortified and removed from business.

We had the ribs and sausages. Sausages were amazing and ribs were pretty nice too. The mashed potato was a bit dry and today they only had one beer on tap to choose - lucky it was a nice beer. Options of side dishes are a bit limited. Our server was a young lady who was very friendly, attentive and happy to share tips on local spots to visit while in town. Nice quirky spot.

Nice spot but is average and overpriced. $34 for 2 boiled sausages and mash is too much . Our pork knuckle was very dry, but the table next door got a juicy one. I guess we got the day before leftovers. When we called to book for the 3 of us a rude guy with German accent said " no booking for 3" we tried to clarify bit he repeated " no booking for 3" and hung up. I decided to rock up there and check and there were plenty on tables. The atmosphere is nice but it stops there.

Overall good first experience here, food portions were large, beer was tasty, service was tailored and the use of typical German music created good atmosphere. Only thing is the establishment seems a little run down, could do with a major face lift/clean up both inside and out.

We came here for our 25th wedding anniversary and it did not disappoint. Right from our calling to book a table, being welcomed when we arrived, the staff were friendly and looked after us well. The waitress in particular was genuinely friendly. Knowing it was our anniversary she set a table in a prim location for us to really enjoy the ambiance, and took multiple pictures for us. When the beer came it was full bodied and lovely. We ordered the platter for two which was cooked to perfection. The crackling was crunchy yet the meat moist. The chef even made the simple potato taste like something next level. The meal was so large we had to ask for a takeaway container! It honestly was one of the most exquisite meals we have ever had. The only complaint we have is COVID made this amazing establishment shut down the commercial brewing side. Oh well. This just means that we have to come back for their German hospitality.

This place gets an unfairly bad rep for some reason... We had a great meal here. $190 feast for 4 fed 5 adults and 2 kids plenty, pork knuckle, pork belly, sausages, schnitzel, rib etc etc which were all delicious and set within an authentic beautiful venue! I definitely recommend the banquet for a good mix of dishes and value.

Food was delicious! Beer was great! Friendly staff, quick meal. Cannot complain about it! The entire place was very cute but needs a good clean, was just dirty and dusty inside but totally worth our meal! Very happy!

Well I have been wanting to come here for many many years. The food was very disappointing. There was only 1 beer available on the menu. We ordered the couples meal. The hock was very bland, the schnitzel tasted mass produced, the Sauerkraut seemed like it was boiled and no taste, the mash was bland but the sausages were nice. Being middle of winter, I would assume that the fire place would have been cranking. I asked if they could get it going and it was a flat no. The building definitely needs work also. Definitely will net return

Would not recommend, I ordered the sausages and mash potatoes. $34 and still hungry. Small amount of mash and two sausage with pickled cabbage. The Germany sausage definitely not like your typical German sausage you get from markets these were small, thin and no gravy. Mashed Potatoes were dry and hard not thick and creamy, taste like it was made the night before and reheated up in the microwave. The only good thing was the coke drink. The German house in Brisbane much better everything there is Authenticate. This place very disappointing, would not recommend.

I have been to this Restaurant four times over as many years. First time the food was very good, service was ok. Each time since the service gets worse and the food is now appalling and way to expensive. Todays lunch was like the worst possible version of Faulty Towers you could ever imagine. There will not be a fifth time and I would not recommend this place to anyone.

This used to be our go to place. NOT ANYMORE. Food was horrible. Tables were absolutely filthy. Ordered the pork knuckle share plate and it was the worst ever had. Chicken tasted like it was freezer burnt. We used to recommend this place but now will do the opposite. Biggest disappointment in a long time.

Having not been for many many years, stopped here with the kids for Sunday lunch. Place its cute and small. We had to sit outside which was ok but lots of cobwebs and a few wasps/spiders. The food is very pricey for what you get. The kids only have one option- a sausage and chips for $17. It was delicious but still wayyyy overpriced. No drink or anything included. Schnitzels were good but you pay heaps extra for sauce. They are pub quality at fine dining prices. You are definitely paying for the decor and music, not the fine food. Only two beers available at a brewery?? But they were good. Have to get your own water and I saw some people have to go searching for cutlery. Itโ€™s basically a limited menu pub with a big price tag. Will be interesting to see if new owners can make it amazing. The chapel is cute as. The brewery had open signs and doors but wasnโ€™t open? Random on a weekend.
