It hasn't been open past 10pm now for a month, but they don't have any signs up saying anything about it, still says open till 4AM, but that's a lie. For the owners reply below: YOUR LYING. IT IS NOT OPEN EITHER, NOT PAST MIDNIGHT AT ALL, YOU HAVEN'T BEEN THERE HAVE YOU. NO STAFF, NOT OPEN, NO HUMANS. Been there 9 times over the past 3 weeks to check, from midnight onwards, even other people outside wondering what's going on, said the same thing and wished someone wrote a sign or SOMETHING to explain why it's not open.

Well after 50 years of eating Schnitzels, I award you the worst. It was dry and had a smell to it, even the chips were dry. I was very concerned for my health over night. I will never eat there again.

Wow, a case of not judging a book by its cover. Didn’t know what to expect, but pleasantly surprised. Great size room for 3. Queen & Single Beds. Small fridge, tv & aircon. Shared Bathrooms down the hallway, with Soap, Shampoo & Conditioner supplied. Towels & Bathmats supplied. Very well maintained & clean. Open area near the office with Electric Jug for Coffee, Tea, Sugar & Milk. Fridge to put your cold items in. TV & Lounge Chairs. And a fridge with snacks. Location walking distance to the beach only 2 blocks away. An abundance of eateries all in walking distance. Coles not too far away.

Called in for lunch on the public holiday. Ordered when it wasn't busy and it took nearly an hour for standard pub fair to be brought out. The chips were cold. The food was overcooked, and parts of inedible. The kids cheese burger resembled a piece of charcoal. I'd hate to be there when it was busy. The bar staff were good, but they obviously had trouble in the kitchen. One should have known by the lack of dining patrons that there were better options around.

To say todays experience was terrible is an understatement. It started off before we got there being informed that the restaurant doesn’t take bookings today, so we fly down and it’s pretty much empty. Tried to order food but wasn’t allowed to order anything of the specials board when paying cash, couldnt order drink specials with cash and payed 50 percent extra then advertised price. Girl in the sports bar was so rude. This pub used to mean the world to me, I have lived upstairs as a manager, I have been the head chef there. All up in the last 25 years I have worked there four times and live the locals. The place is empty everytime I go and the way staff treat you is terrible. But as long as the poker machine room is full they won’t train staff for manners. The girl behind the tab had zero training. It’s such a shame where my beloved industry is ending up and no better place to witness how bad it has become other than the palmy hotel. P.s. cash is still legal tender, to be punished for wanting to use it is ridiculous.

We had a fair experience at Palm Beach Hotel. The room was clean and the shared facilities were also clean and spacious. However, during our stay, the reception desk was rarely staffed. This made check in take around 1 hour in addition to the room not being ready. The next day, our room key stopped working and again no one was at the desk to issue us a new room key. We called and waited 45 minutes for someone to arrive. This was inconvenient as we needed to shower and leave for dinner. After complaining to the manager, we eventually received a partial refund, but the manager was originally very hesitant and unwilling to issue even a partial refund. We were happy with the compensation we received for the inconvenience, but wouldn’t stay at Palm Beach Hotel again.

Just had lunch there. Awsome service from Dakota behind the bar. The steak was cooked to my perfection. Go there for a meal and you will leave satisfied! Also had dealings with the manager there, Jimmy. Very professional and the pub made the right decision in hiring him.

Very clean, hygienic and spacious rooms not too far from Gold Coast. Walking distance to the beach and safe parking area. Good for leisure or business travellers on budget. Staff is friendly and helpful. I was impressed with the venue manager Robert, even when I asked that any discount for ALH group staff’s and he arranged everything. Definitely recommend for people who looking for budget hotel stay. 👌🏼

Have been coming here for years hence two not one star after today. Really been going down hill on service lately. Kids behind the counter forgetful and seem miserable and over worked. We popped in for a coffee and cake today with our dogs 40 minutes later nothing. Forgot our order. Oblivious to impact. No genuine sorry just more standing about waiting for a refund which was also stuffed up. Disappointing and a first world problem but not good and has happened to us more than once so we are really having second thoughts about supporting this local business moving forward. Can't comment on staying here as local, but can say that service is forgetful and place is short staffed. No wonder heaps of patrons choose the cafes on the other side of the street. We just like to vary where we go and support them all.

Meals came out cold. Ordered a medium cooked steak it came out cold. The second attempt and it had blood dripping from it. Refund was offered and it was painstakingly hard for them to process the refund. A host hospitality course would be beneficial to some of the rude staff.

Despite bookings.com not reserving room but stating I had one they found me a room. Very thankful. Floods in Brisbane and local area. Staff were working hard in circumstances. Staff were helpful under very testing times.

Had a couple of drinks after work with a few friends , smashed a few glasses by accident off a table that wasn’t sturdy , and they banned me. I was also spoken to in the rudest manner, even though I was calm and accepted that they wanted me removed for the night ! You will be hearing from me soon , as it wasn’t necessary for how the staff sorted the situation !

We both ate at the Bistro and had the Cheeseburger which was much better than I have had at other Venus 🏆🍔. Very nice . The young lady at the bar Sarah was lovely and gee I’ve never seen anyone work so hard and consistently! Sarah is a bloody winner in our eyes, hopefully management recognise how awesome she actually is! Thanks Chef & Sarah. Very well done, wee again soon.

Very disappointing and won't be back for another meal. We booked a table for lunch yesterday (Sunday) to spend time together for the anniversary our our father's death at a place he used to enjoy coming to. Admittedly it has been a few years since we had been due to him being sick and we don’t live locally, but at first we were impressed with the changes. It wasn't until we asked for menus that we were told that we had to do it all ourselves from the qr code on the table. 20 minutes later, eventually finding a phone in our group that was actually compatible with it, and stuffing around trying to find menu items and drinks and entering all your personal details, we finally placed our order. We found it a bit rude that we were asked to pay a tip as part of the ordering process. A tip for what? Nobody was doing anything for us? If anything, we should receive a discount for doing all the work for them. Drinks arrived not too long after, however due to a glitch in the system that we were told "don't get me started" and "it can't be fixed" the drinks that we had to order (qty 3) with the kids meal came as Apple juice instead of the 2 x Orange Juices and 1 x Lift. Ok. We went along with that. She had obviously been questioned many times over it. About half an hour later, our meals arrived. Food was delicious. Compliments to the chef. Decent size and value for money. We were a bit unlucky though, as we seemed to be there at the same time as some sort of sporting event was on TV, and it was pretty loud at times with a lot of people "encouraging" the players. Not the quiet relaxing atmosphere we experienced previously. As we were leaving, we were pulled up by a staff member to tell us we couldn't walk through the gaming area with a 2yo, and that next time we would have to walk him through their own car park, that you now have to pay for parking, around the back of the building and down the street, to enter via the front to get to the dining area. Not the safest option for a toddler when there is an entrance right there. Last time we were there, the dining area was inside these doors and we didn't know any different. We were thankful for the small kids area in the corner of the dining area. Very basic, but was great to keep our little one amused while we ordered and waited for our meals to arrive. Maybe we are a bit emotional and it seemed a lot worse than it actually was, but this is how we experienced our visit. Hopefully other have lot more positive experience.

It was my first time visiting Queensland… Everyone I interacted with was so nice & professional. The cleaners, receptionists, service with a smile, so helpful & friendly. I had a wonderful time there. I can’t wait to go back. I was a bit worried about some of the other reviews I read before visiting, but they were exaggerated. I didn’t have a single problem or complaint during my 10 days there.

We go to this venue plenty of times when down the coast. Not again. Got there and venue wasn't open as it has been before. Sat out the front and ordered a drink. Once open went in only to discover no chefs specials available. Staff didn't smile, didn't make us feel welcome. My daughter accidentally ordered me the wrong drink. Which they did replace but then received a warning about future orders. Walked our and went next door which was way better

We came chasing a steak craving from my partner, and we were blown away! I had the lamb kofta special and it was great. The kofta was well spiced and cooked, the tzatziki was super fresh. My partner's steak was perfect medium, and the salad was fresh, we had the calamari topper and it was super tender. The other highlight was the kids meal. My little one had the chips and nuggets, not the most sophisticated meal, but it came out quick, and not at a scorching temperature. Service was quick and friendly too! Very pleasantly surprised by the whole experience. Shoot on down and give them some support

Budget accomadation for Gold Coast. Has been remodelled and is now much better. Share bathroom and toilets. Tea and coffee in foyer. Very handy to everything. Palm beach more natural than Surfers paradise.

These rooms are so dirty and infested with cockroaches, literally they are everywhere. I've stayed in hostels for 1/4th of the price that can be considered luxury compared to this place. Whatever you do, do not stay here. The only positive is that the staff is very nice.

Called in for a quick lunch on way back to NSW, well not so quick, hardly anyone there but it still took over half an hour to cook a steak sandwich, medium rare rump with chips and salad, steak was almost blue, no dressing on salad, had to ask for more, service extremely slow, when I make the exact same meals for a living my expectations are maybe a bit higher but nothing was technical, wasn't impressed at all, when asked why it was taking so long we were told another 2 minutes but going by the steak I'd say the order was forgotten about, not a good look, sorry it was a fail.

My wife and I stayed here after a wedding instead of driving 2 hours to get home. The disappointment started almost straight away. When we arrived at reception at 12.10pm, stood there for a good 30 seconds before finally being acknowledged by the person behind the desk. There was no smile or a 'Hello' or anything, just a 'can I help you?'. We knew we could not check-in to our room, we did not want to, we just wanted to get our room key, however on asking we were abruptly, almost rudely told that we were unable to check-in until 2pm, this was repeated 2 or 3 times....ok whatever. We continued to smile and be polite through the next 4 or 5 minutes until we got our key. We were surprised when we learnt that there was no toilet or shower in our room and had to use shared amenities. I'll admit, we probably overlooked that while booking so likely our fault and in honesty if we realised, we would not have booked there. We went downstairs to the bar/bistro for lunch and it was delicious, encountered 3 bar staff and they were extremely friendly and helpful. Upon arrival after the wedding we found to room to be tidy, but the aircon was really noisy when we had the heater which was needed because the blanket was way too thin. The amenities were clean that night but by morning 3 of the 4 toilets had pee all over the seats and floor, the 4th toilet was out of order, assuming it was kids. I would totally recommend the bar/bistro but I after the greeting at reception, or lack thereof, I couldn't recommend accommodation, unless you are getting drunk downstairs and need somewhere to sleep it off.

The food was good, however we had a cocktail missing from our order. Then we had to chase a missing meal and dessert also had something missing and required following up. It wasn't very busy at the time either. Otherwise it would have been great.

  • 1/5 Gary J. 1 year ago on Google
Never again, over priced for what we were served for dinner. BBQ rack of lamb with chips that was probably left over from lunch and slaw that had no dressing. All of this for $38.

  • 3/5 Simon H. 1 year ago on Google
Hotel is clean and room are large. The beds is quite hard. The bathrooms/showers are huge and clean. The staff are friendly. The food downstairs was ordinary. I usually get a schnitzel because you can’t mess that up, well this place come close to it. Will eat up at the surf club tonight. Over all very happy apart from the food and hard mattress. Maybe getting old lol

Ordered the slow cooked beef pie for lunch. It was ok but lacked flavour. Would be nice with some Worcestershire sauce. There was also no salt and pepper delivered to the table. I ate it as it was and didn’t complain to staff but this one needs a rethink. As for the room, bed is hard and pillow is high. Not the best sleep experience. Bathroom was good.

I had to cancel for personal reason at the very last time. The managers was incredible kind and fully refunded me. Something that does not happen every day. I will definitely stay in this accommodation in the future. Thank......................... ..... ..........,

The food was amazing and the staff were so friendly! In particular a staff member Kodie went over and above to help us make our friends 70th birthday memorable. Brandon was also very nice and made an excellent Pina colada

When they say budget accommodation they mean budget accommodation. Small room, double bed, one pillow, dorm style shared amenities with the rest of the cell block. If you like slamming doors and fire alarms going off at all hours of the morning stay here. If you want a good nights sleep, go somewhere else. While I don't like to use the word 'dive', if the shoe fits.....

The complete and utter lack of customer service from both staff members I had to deal with yesterday was shocking. I expected better from an ALH venue. Food was the only redemption hence the second star.

  • 5/5 Catriona M. 1 year ago on Google
Had a wonderful stay here. The reception staff and cleaners were wonderful and so helpful! The location is great for exploring Palm Beach. The restaurant downstairs was lovely and the staff were very friendly. The hotel had the nicest shared bathrooms I have experienced.

  • 4/5 Monique C. 1 year ago on Google
Very cheap so don’t expect anything 5 stars, it was ok, the bathroom downstairs was always flooding, the room has a very strong smell when we first go in but it gets better, my room had no window so made me feel a bit claustrophobic, it’s a huge place, depending on where is your room, you will have to walk the whole thing to get in and out, it’s like a maze. People were very loud in the other rooms. The room service is very good!

  • 1/5 Kirra U. 2 years ago on Google
The toilet is dirty smell horrible! and customer service is almost none. The male manager can talk to his "besties" for ages in stead of delivering the service on a timely manner. Lazy and lack of people skills! Used to be a local here but will not come anymore, and do not recommend.

Went out for dinner on a Saturday night instead of cooking Suggested the pub there were only 3 tables occupied. We ordered just after one of the tables . We ordered garlic bread and calamari and a chicken snitty ... we waited 30mins and asked where are garlic Bread was .... We noticed the other 2 tables Were a bit frustrated That their meals hadn't arrive Anyway long story short we complained and got our disgusting meals they were greasy cold and the chicken tasted tainted....we sent it back and got offered a drink....the ppl who ordered still didn't have their meals and we had finished ...they asked for a refund. On the way out all the tables had shared how long they had waited....up to 1 1/2 hrs Bloody terrible No communication Will never return
