Been a local for 10 years and have loved ‘The Tav’. The last three times I have been here, have been disappointing. All the food prices increased, which I am fine with. However, all the food standard dropped. Just poorly cooked steaks, cold uncooked bacon on burgers, cold onion rings, grey coloured chicken nuggets. Very disappointed to have the local pub now taken off our regular dining spots for our family.

I went there on a Friday night for dinner with my partner and we were extremely disappointed with our food. We ordered calamari as a starter, and then asked for the ribs and the rump steak for our mains. We were given the calamari and ribs only, of which the ribs had the wrong sides (chips, salad and mushroom sauce instead of potatoes and veggies). I raised this with the staff who took the ribs back, and brought them back with the correct sides, and brought out the rump with chips and salad. The steak was very dry but my partner managed to eat it, and the mushroom sauce tasted more like pepper sauce. The potatoes were mashed, however they looked and tasted like they came out of a packet. The ribs were very tough, as though they had been cooked hours before, and slathered in BBQ sauce. There was a lot of fat as well that had not been trimmed. The calamari was ok, and the only meal worth ordering again out of the three.

What an amazing night. Fantastic service, food and atmosphere. They went above and beyond to make it a great night! Great specials too! Just awesome! Thank you Chefs, Ernie and Meadow!

Wow! they have really reinvented this place and the staff couldn't do enough. Didn't have seafood pasta on the menu, but when we asked, the waiter who in turn asked the chef if he could make it. The answer was absolutely! Better yet... it was delicious! Highly recommended Merrimac tavern! .

Ordered Calamari for an entree, was very surprised and pleased with the amount that came out!.. This photo was even after I had eaten a few pieces. Will definitely order again.

Staff dont even know the price of the drinks they sell. Got over charged on 2 seperate occasions and had to tell the new female staff the price ... Gone down hill since the owners have changed - all the staff seem depressed and uninterested.

Great food and very nice staff... Only dropped in for a pit stop on the way home. Well worth it

I like Merrimac Tavern very much. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The food is very tasty and well priced. The atmosphere is very warm. Absolutely recommended!

Finally found a place that still gives you the option of chips and salad OR potato mash and veg with your meal. My chicken parmigiana was 10/10, friendly staff, Easy going atmosphere. Highly recommend this place!

As a long term Merrimac local it is good to see the tavern have a facelift. However, disappointing to see that the front deck, the nicest place to sit, is now allocated to the smokers so not only do they get best seats but as you enter the tavern you have to walk thru the cloud of smoke. It isn't very kid friendly, they should have a kids corner to cater to the local families. Meals are a good size.

Better than your average suburban pub. Went dir a meal with my old man, would go back for sure

Once again the Merrimac tavern has been very average due to poor customer service, had dinner there tonight, ordered a entree (platter for 2-4 people) plus 3 mains. I asked the lady when placing the order if the mains can be 15-20 minutes after the entree, and what do you know, they brought it all out together... No thanks, you can take the mains back, there is not enough room on the table, and I did ask prior to ordering. Food was great, but this type of service has happened on quite a few occasions. Switch ya ears on...

Had a table of 12 for dinner on a Saturday. All meals were prepared quickly and delivered at the same time. The quality was fantastic and everyone enjoyed their meal.

Great food and affordable meals. We went to the tavern on a Thursday night where they had $16 steak special on. The portion size was generous and the steak was cooked great. When doing the meat raffles the lady on the microphone was very energetic and entertaining, it was a nice change to some other taverns around. Glad for the Merrimac Tavern to be my local and look forward to returning

The newly renovated pub is amazing. The food (I only eat steak) is at times satisfactory but you've taken away the green salad and replaced it with a so called Ceasar one, NO NO NO, change it back. Please also cook the steaks as requested m/r should not be bleeding on your plate.

Feel sorry for the chef working hard by himself, putting the plates nicely presented on the pass, ringing the belt and the 3 absolutely lazy guys on the bar on the phone, or sitting having a break watching everything and ignoring the poor fella in the kitchen. After watching my food getting cold on the pass for 10 min. Had to run it myslef to my own table. You need a manager !

Great tavern, staff friendly and helpful. Nice friendly atmosphere, loads of seating inside and out. Tavern easy to find. Food was excellent, we had the chicken Burger and beef and Bacon Burger both came with massive portion of fries and the burgers were huge. Great value for money. We will be back! The only downside for us, was the smokers area is next too the outside food eating area so sometimes we did have some cigarette smoke drifting our way but it's a very well ventilated area so it wasn't unbearable.

So disappointed! Went there on the 10/2. Ordered the Caesar Salad. AWFUL, dressing had no flavour, chicken was filthy grill burnt. Weirdly enough the ham not bacon was on the bottom..cold poached egg! Just disappointed Service from the manager at the ordering register..a smile would be nice.

Had an amazing lunch. The meals were just delicious, so well presented and very generous sizes. Will definitely be back!

Very disappointing refurbishment...large smoking area placed right out the front of the building in a prime spot that could been created into a nice outdoor eating area. Didn't stay for dinner as the dining area looked like a school canteen and the atmosphere similar to an old folks home.

Such friendly staff and wonderful service. I organised a group of 40 people to come for a wake and the platters were amazing. Harry was such a great help getting the usb playing on the TV and it was a fantastic day. Thanks Merrimac Tavern

Pretty good cocktails 🍸🍸🍸 especially the espresso martini. They have happy hr Fridays too.. Staff are always friendly 😉

Average at best. Went for dinner where they have Parma as the ‘Monday night special’. If you like mass produced chicken schnitzel with jar sauce then this is the place for you.

Drinks were good although a little pricy, food was well portioned for the price, not the atmosphere I would usually seek out for dinner but definitely not a bad experience

Hi all, I’m not a pub goer generally. (I’m simply not a drinker by choice) But I popped in to the Tavern here for a meal. Great atmosphere friendly people and the service was super. I knocked over the house burger which was very good. Thanks guys. See ya next time.

Unfortunately on steak night it’s seems thats it’s not possible to have a steak cooked properly. For the second time we received two well done steaks when we asked for rare. Drinks aren’t cheap and the place is very noisy. If that’s your jam enjoy. We won’t be back.

Always has been a great place to eat out. Great food. If you don't let the unvaccinated eat and drink there, you are shooting yourself in the foot. We will NEVER come to the Tavern again. Ever !

Took the family in for dinner. Been going to the tav for 15 years. Ordered the rump which was a very low quality. All the meals are entree size since new owners. The only place ive ever dined in that is stingy on their french fries. Used to be a great local family pub.

Got the chance to meet the new owner today. Very down to earth young bloke. Accommodated me and my daughter and had a chat to us even though he would have a very busy schedule. Thanks for giving us your time and the family and I will be back in the near future. Keep up the great work👍
