Came here last week with my wife for a date night without the kids. We were highly impressed with the food and enjoyed the flavours and unique combinations available but the service from our waiter was appalling. Jordan kept rolling her eyes and sighing at us when we were telling her our order and spoke to us rudely the whole evening. My wife was not very impressed as she wanted a stress free night after a long hard month and we were serviced with a rude waiter who did not want to be there and tried rushing us. Teenagers with attitudes should not be hired at high end restaurants like this! Besides the rude teenage girl, we were highly impressed by the delicacy and tasty food that was served to us and we recommend The North Room to all with a unique and fun loving personality as long as Jordan is not serving you. - Sam and Belinda

It was a beautiful night. I didn’t upload the photos of all dishes but they all tasted lovely. The service was also great. I have been to multiple Michelin 3 stars in different countries myself but I’d say the service here is more considerate and genuine. I would highly recommend it to someone who’d like to spend the evening with decent food and vivid ambience.

Blink & you’ll miss it! Randomly nestled between a skate shop & various other businesses on the Gold Coast Highway, The North Room is fine dining but not as you expect it. We were treated to 5 course tasting menu with what felt like a variation of experimental artfully presented share plates. The food was exceptional. However I felt with so many exotic flavour parings, there was no one plate that blew me away. All consistent & tasty food. Exceptional service & atmosphere.

A pleasant surprise, hidden gem in gold coast! Cozy environment, attentive service. The menus are very creative, much more interesting than those so called ‘fine dining’ in Sydney where most of them are just copy cats. We ordered all the seafood dishes, love the jicama puree. Very friendly price as well!

Quite a small restaurant but an exceptional dinning experience with a very high standard of food and friendly but attentive service. The four tasting menu was very reasonably priced and we really enjoyed each course which was perfect for two to share. Highlights were the seafood dishes for me, lobster and squid which were perfectly cooked and complemented well with the sauces. They also include a few starters and a treat to finish, so you won't leave hungry! Highly recommend this restaurant if you enjoy fine dining.

What an amazing little restaurant. Exceptional personal service. We were on holiday and looking for somewhere higher quality food experience and we were pleasantly surprised. A menu that would have you thinking and once tasting leaving wanting more. Can not recommend more highly, a restaurant we will visit again and again.

It's was even better than I imagined , food , service and atmosphere was very high quality. I do recommend the five courses with wine matching as it's a delight to senses. I will be going back very soon .

Modern aus cuisine.. tasty overall. If you’re not experimental with trying new food, this may not be your style as there are a lot of native Australian ingredients.. Special shout-out to the cheese toastie.. I wish they had a brunch menu too!

Amazing, laidback service, really delicious food which is beautifully light and full of interesting flavours and textures.

Decor was nice. Service was good and food was good. But just not to the standard that I thought it would be. There is too much hype. The tasting menu was interesting and unique, but I felt that most dishes lacked development, and the flavours and textures didn’t always go well together. Would have preferred to have the dishes plated as opposed to have to serve ourselves. The dessert was absolutely delicious though (potato skin ice cream). We also enjoyed the freshly baked bread rolls. The covid masks that the servers were wearing made it so hard to hear them - they just need to speak up a bit more while wearing them so that we can hear the dish descriptions.

The North Room has been on my list of places to try for months, and several lockdowns and restrictions later, it's a little underwhelming after all that build up. Service was impeccable, they were attentive and knowledgeable. The stand out dish was the spanner crab bone marrow crumpet. The umami-ness of the salted egg yolk, richness of the bone marrow crumpet, and slight sweetness from the spanner crab worked so well together. The other dishes were good, but not mind blowing. Worth a try but I probably won't be back.

Atmosphere and service was fantastic. Food was delicious but portions sizes were a tad small. Will be back next time we're in town. Be sure to book though, they are usually booked out in advance.

Fantastic restaurant. We left the bespoke vegan menu as a surprise and each dish was a culinary delight. Everything was cooked to perfection and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Amazing service, amazing food, , amazing presentation, amazing wine! The North Room is our favourite place on the GC for fine dining. They were very accommodating with a fussy eater and because we were eating slightly different dishes, gave us different wine matching options. Have been before and will go again.

Food was really delicious and interesting combinations! We got the 5 share plate option and then added dessert which ended up being the perfect amount of food. The staff were really friendly - great service!

This was our second visit to the North Room, and it didn't disappoint. The menu changes every few weeks, apart from the signature dishes, so you will have a different experience every time you visit. You select either four or five courses from the menu, and have the option of matching wines with each course, or choose your own drink from the wine list. Each course is beautifully presented, and tastes wonderful. There's a good reason why this restaurant appears in the Delicious top 100 every year. I highly recommend the North Room for a special occasion, or if you just decide that you want to treat yourself.

I had an exceptional dining experience at this restaurant. The food was not only delicious but also creatively prepared using a variety of rare ingredients that I hadn't even heard of, despite working in the hospitality industry for 10 years. The customer service was also excellent, with the kind and friendly lady serving us making our dining experience even more enjoyable. I would definitely return to this restaurant if I were to visit the Gold Coast again during my holidays.

A very lovely dining experience. The food was amazing and the drink recommendations were on point. The smaller room atmosphere was refreshing too. I can easily say we enjoyed The North Room more than most other "bigger" / more expensive set menu restaurants. Hands down we both agreed we come here regularly if we lived in this country! We'll certainly miss it not being local to us!

Avid adventurers, load the boat and voyage north on a journey of culinary excellence. Though a la carte is available, I’d encourage you to embark on the spectacular degustation with outstanding paired wines, if that’s your thing. Highlights from my partner and I’s recent expedition included the bone marrow crumpet with crab and a pork fat caramel. The venue is warm and intimate, and staff are attentive without being overbearing. Be warned your wallet may find the journey taxing, but rest assured a culinary Eldorado awaits. For us, the best degustation in South East Queensland. Things won’t head south on a night out at Northroom.

Was a great place for an intimate dinner. The limited seating adds to the atmosphere and makes things feel that little bit more special. The service was fantastic, the staff were so kind and informative on their food. You pay for the experience more than anything, as the portion size is a bit smaller than the average dining experience though still left full at the end. Would recommend!

To me it’s a very Australian diner experience. Many ingredients in food I have not heard before, not to say if I have tasted. So it’s a very special experience to me, also every dish was delicious. I liked the duck breast and local squid a lot which was put finger lime in it adding more textures. They’re very appetizing.

What a fabulous night. Really think we could have given you a 4.5 star rating. It was brilliant. Love the concept of a small intimate setting. Service was superb. The menu presented on the night was excellent. So many flavours that all worked extremely well together. The detail In presentation was outstanding. The size of cutlery could be smaller to match the delicacy of the dishes presented. Overall a credit to the Chef . Thankyou - we had such a great night.

I rarely leave reviews, but I have to for The North Room, as this would be in our top ten best meals ever! The food was interesting and presented beautifully - it reminded us of meals we had had years ago at Claude's and Marque, but without the expensive location and attendant price tag! Not cheap, but incredible value for what it was. The restaurant is small, and the decor simple, but we were there for the food, and the small size made for super-attentive service. Finally I feel like I have a reason to come back to the Gold Coast!

Amazing restaurant. We did the chefs tasting selection with paired wines and everything was perfection. Every dish had been well thought out with many layers which all fit perfectly together. There was a personal touch in the whole experience with the staff and atmosphere being amazing. Will definitely return and highly recommend!

Honestly one of the best culinary experiences we’ve ever had! The staff are incredible and attentive and it was a pleasure to lay witness to the food journey that host Shannon took us on. We couldn’t recommend higher and are lucky we stumbled upon Gold Coast’s absolute gem!

Tim & Shannon at The North Room are amazing. We had dinner on Saturday night and it was one of the best dinners we've had in a while. The food was sensational and interesting and different to what lots of other fine dining restaurants are doing at the moment. We recommend the emu egg special. And the wine matches were brilliant, we highly recommend The North Room to anyone who is into great food and wine :)

Truely Unbelievable Food Incredible Wine List Passionate and knowledgable Staff The North Room is an absolute gem. My partner and I have been fortunate enough to visit The North Room on several occasions and each time we visit, everything about our experience just gets better and better (which is hard to fathom). Tim's unique knowledge of flavours and discovering fresh/interesting produce tends to leave us speechless on the first mouthful of every plate we order. Shannon consistently pairs up these sophisticated and elegant plates with unusual wines of astonishing quality. Many of which we try and track down/order when we get home just to find that they are completely and utterly sold out countrywide. Can't recommend this establishment enough for true lovers of food and wine and until our next visit ill keep dreaming of that melt-in-your-mouth octopus...

We dined at North Room on Friday for probably our fourth or fifth time and most definitely not our last. Tim has a talent for mixing the most unusual things together resulting in heavenly dishes you won’t get anywhere else! Not a huge place which adds to its attraction, Shannon and her two staff let you know exactly what’s in your dishes and they could not be more welcoming. Kind of like fine dining at a friends.

Beautiful food, excellent service, intimate venue and ambiance. The Gold Coast does not have too many places that tick all of the boxes but this one does.

The Spring by the Pacific lunch was a delight. We particularly enjoyed the whipped cod on smoked potato waffle, Hervry bay scallops with green apple and the Freemantle octopus!
