I eat at this amazing establishment every time I come to the Gold Coast and am never disappointed. It has excellent menu variety and delicious Mexican food. The staff are funny and lovely. California tacos has a very chill and accepting design that I love. The service speed is fairly fast and to conclude you should definitely visit this restaurant.

Baja burrito - The burrito is huge. This is because it is packed with rice, beans and cabbage. Small amount of meat. $37 for burrito, chips and drink. Expensive for what it is. Would not recommend.

Wow what a disappointment! The price definitely doesn’t meet the quality. We just have got our delivery and we don’t even remember when we had such a bad experience, especially for that price. We ate 1/3 of our meals and rest ended up in the bin. The meat was chunky and chewy. Definitely wouldn’t recommend..

We both decided to get the taco plate deal. I decided to get the pork taco and surf and turf which were both alright but nothing amazing. The meat was kind of cold and they lacked flavour and toppings. I also did not like how you have to pay an extra $2 for some toppings that should be included in the original price. The mango and pineapple salsa added a nice flavour and freshened but the pork was not very tender and again, cold. The surf and turf taco is a good concept but the steak was quite tough and for only 2 small prawns the extra $2 wasn’t worth it. Corn chips were crispy and I liked how them and the tortillas were made in house. The salsa was chunky and had a little kick but wouldn’t probably preferred guac or a saucier salsa.

A burrito with hot chips inside? Welcome to California tacos. The food is pretty good but it is a bit on the expensive side. If you're hungry though, portion size is very very generous.

It wasn’t the worst, however the fish and prawn tacos purely lacked any flavour. It takes talent to make food so tasteless. Plus they took our plate away before we had finished without asking if we were done.

Whenever we holiday in Burleigh, we always have tacos. We start talking about them for weeks before we get here, and then the next three months talking about how good they were once we leave... We may have a problem. We've had basically the whole menu by now and they're all very good.

I thought it was a little over priced but once I saw the portion size i was impressed and the food was great. I can't remember the American fellas name running the shop but he's a nice bloke with good energy about him makes you feel welcome

Cali Tacos always delivers on dazzling flavours. Has never let us down. Also love the Sangria... so fruity and delicious.

This place blew my mind, I was super excited to go at some point and wow, amazing food, very good service, and the BEST atmosphere ever making you smile and bop your head. Go on taco Tuesday for six dollar tacos. CHEAP! Definitely recommend if you are thinking of going because it was WORTH IT.

Tasty, good size portion mexican food in Burleigh Heads. A bit pricey though. No table orders as you order yourself at the counter so not much 'service' to rate.

Amazing service tonight by the guy with the American/Canadian accent at Burleigh. Came here with 4 adults. Food came out super fast, was amazing. He immediately greeted us at the door and brought us table water as soon as we sat down. He even explained the menu when he overheard us asking questions to each other about certain items. Atmosphere was great too. 10/10 would recommend.

The burritos are big and good. The food is wildly overpriced. The staff was fine/good. The music was too loud and intense. The location is pretty good; a few minutes from the beach

I ordered fish burrito and California fries with steak toppings. Somehow, the food was cold, the rice in the burrito wasn’t a lime rice and a bit old or undercooked. The meat on the fries wasn’t tasty as it should be. Overall the food was pricey $58 for a burrito & fries. Mmmmmm!!!!!!!!! I would say quality/price ratio was low.

The manager of the space is amazing and provided such a great service. Cold beer, great food (surf & turf burrito, my favourite) and awesome service. Highly recommended!

Don’t bother going here, we called wanting to have dinner for 8 pax, person who answered the phone said unless we are there by 7:30 We won’t be served, I think we explained we were an hour away at 6:14pm and I can’t promise we will make it there by 7:30 as I don’t know what the traffic is like, I then asked will it be an issue if we were to arrive at 7:40 and the person said I can’t serve you if you arrive late. Find somewhere that hires staff who actually wants to be at work and wants you there.

I’m a Californian.. from Mexico.. these got a lot worse. Is it new ownership? This is 100% TEX MEX. Or if you’re an American like me this is an severely overpriced del taco Disappointing as I brought my family here. Luckily not my grandma tho .. phew

If you’re in Burleigh and walking past California Tacos definitely go in! It’s such a great place. It really reminded me of eating Mexican in LA…true to its name! Staff are very friendly and I met the owner years ago. They have done a great job making this place authentic. I’d love them to open up in Melbourne…money well spent!

The margaritas are terrible here, especially the tap margarita. For a Mexican place I thought they would be great. The food is fresh and delicious but nearly everything was spicy. Advertised $12 Monday margaritas but it's only for the tap margarita that is terrible. Probably wouldn't go again, there's better places around.

Fresh and delicious! Had the Hawaiian and shrimp taco and it was so flavoursome. Especially liked the hawaiian - the sweetness of the pineapple and sweet potato cut perfectly though the sweet and spiciness of the salsa and sauce. Fairly priced I reckon for the quality of food!

These legends nailed the food at a wedding I attended on the weekend. The food was amazing (highly recommend the chicken or cactus - a delicious novelty) and the margeritas were amazing too. They walked around making sure everyone got entrees and drinks, and smashed through everyone's orders quickly. All the guests were raving about the food and all the staff were really friendly. Will check out the location in Burleigh next time we visit for sure.

Thank you for the best margarita I have ever tasted! Salt on the outside of the rim, beautiful tequila and fresh lime... delish! Tacos were awesome as well! Highly recommend the shrimp tacos :D

Landed on this for some Taco Tuesday. Bit of a mishap with Ubereats. $5 tacos still apply for take away which was great. Went ahead and ordered a few of each. We weren't expecting it to be terrible, but it ended up much better than everyone expected. The tacos were big, not light on with filling as can be the case with Taco Tuesdays. The menu included a cactus taco which was delicious, full of flavour and great texture. Fish stayed crunchy all the way home. As always seems the case the corn tortilla break up a bit when eating. Also got huge serving of corn chips which weren't oily or over seasoned with guacamole and salsa to go.

Im not easily impressed. But today was one of them days. The food was extremely delicious. Hats pff to the chef! And the price was cheap as chips The beautiful girl serving me and my mate done an outstanding job. She had all the quality's a owner could ever dream of working for them. Perfect punctuation and manners. Smiling and extremely helpful. People like yourself make eating out worth every cent. Thankyou California Tacos. We will be back without a doubt. ~baz

Was hoping for a proper California-style burrito but found it pretty disappointing. No refried beans. Cabbage in it. Weird. Tasted okay-ish, but I wouldn't go back.

First time here. Ordered the beef taco & fish taco based on reviews. Friendly & fast service. The beef taco was good but the fish taco was bland. Thought it would be fish meat but it was a full crumbed fish fillet. Gluten free available.

Great little hang out to grab a feed. Nachos where fresh and plentiful. Shrimp tacos were very tasty although fish Tacos would be great if they had a grilled option.

What a great surprise, not the busiest place but we walked away and all spoke about was how soon we could go back. Tasty food , lovely staff and the music hit the spot too. Highly recommended

Just came in today, ordered two tacos. Cali was good however my fish taco, had nothing on it at first until I discovered all of the toppings were scattered throughout the box and I had to put it all back together. Also there was no pineapple and mango salsa, there was 3 bits of pineapple. To pay over $10 for a tiny piece of fish with basically nothing else... very disappointing. Came from Tweed Heads to pay all up $65 for very average food.. ridiculous

Tacos here are quite nice. Tbh they are not outstanding or the best I've had and the price point is quite high. Serving sizes (especially protein quantity) almost makes up for the pricing but not quite.

We went on a trip to Australia to visit our niece Sasha Skelton and she took us to your restaurant and we had a very good tacos and nachos and I was surprised by how many people love Mexican cuisine in Australian keep the good work and hope to see you guys again in the near future

Great place to meet friends and good location but not a culinary experience. Service was great and fast. Food lacked flavor and fries were cold. I don’t think they cook to order but just reheat the plates 😏 Will come back to hang out with friends but not for the food

Sensational tacos, best on the Gold Coast whatever they marinate the chicken in, I want the recipe. The home made corn chips and flour tortillas are the best I’ve eaten, Food is of an excellent standard. The staff must be hand picked carefully as I’ve never had such great service from young people for a long time, they go out of their way to be helpful, accommodating and are courteous and friendly. Did I mention a pretty cool spot in Burleigh with a great vibe!! Thanks Guys 😊
