This park has been named after a fallen Policeman. Itโ€™s a great meeting place as it has a quaint cafe with seating outdoors. There is fitness classes and learn to sail classes as well. The biggest feature is the 4km round trip path used by walkers. There is also a playground for children and a few workout machines. Parking hasnโ€™t been a problem and thereโ€™s plenty of grassed area to bring your picnic lunch! A place for families and singles alike!

The kids play area has got loads of potential to expand and maybe accomodate the toddlers a little bit more. The location is perfect and picturesque looking at the lake. The loop around walk here is about 3.5km Iโ€™d say. If youโ€™re looking for an easy walk, this is the track for you. Beautiful location!

Love walking around then lake here! It's 4km in total and there are sign markers for the distance each way in 250mtr increments. You can also ride your bike, push your pram, scooter even in your wheelchair is very easily done. Often there are kayaks paddling for practice in the mornings as well. Dog friendly, but please pick up their poop! Also, there's a big dog park, so definitely visit there if your dog is sociable.

The walk/run track is amazing, 4km round and the views are amazing. If you have dogs, there is a great dog park, and plenty of room to play fetch.

Great place to walk the dog. Can also grab a coffee or a cold drink at the end and a treat for the dog as well. Just need to keep your eyes peeled for snakes in the warmer weather.

Nice picnic place with family and kids. Huge lake, so you can walk around it in relax tempo for about 1 hour. Donโ€™t forget your hat ๐Ÿงข because itโ€™s really sunny all the time, not so much shadow. If you want to catch a parking place, come earlier otherwise itโ€™s full.

Just a great walk... pity there are those that toss their butts on the ground and dog owners that don't clean up their mess. However, they are the minority and it won't stop you enjoying the great outdoors.

Its really nice here! Plenty of space on the grass for picnics or activities! Its over looking the lake which is great to see people out there as well having a good time. There are amenities beside the car park. BBQ's and gazebos. The park has a flying fox and a heap of play equipment! Its a great park for family time ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘

Large open park for kids, parents and dogs. Dogs on leads please. Well situated on the lake walking path. The park can make for lovely picnics and sunsets. The lake area gets busy on weekends and benches and bbq is limited. There are 3x unisextoilets. Water recharge fountains are present. Make sure you pack the bikes and sneakers. The park is next to open water. Sunblock and hats please. Shade is limited. There are also 3x gym fitness zones for those feeling energetic. Make sure you stock your cooler, the coffee shop is about 200m walk. Wheelchair friendly. Parking could be challenging?

Beautiful park at the end of Newcastle Street. The park has a gorgeous view of the Brisbane River and UQ St Lucia. This park is excellent at any time of the day, but especially during the afternoon when you can catch the typical Brisbane sunset.

River views are a certainty down here at the Newcastle Street platform. If aquatic vistas are your cup of tea then you wonโ€™t be disappointed down here. I once spend 36 hours here gazing at the river and I have never felt more refreshed spiritually, however a lack of toilets left me feeling uncomfortable. I probably should have not consumed so much water, but as I am a man who enjoys both the feeling of water outside AND within, then my method let me down. Next time I come river gazing I will be sure to use the bathroom in my home first. Great times!

Great spot for sunsets. Although it was very busy, there are plenty of grassed spots. And because of this, it felt relaxing and gave us enough of a bubble to feel not crowded. Majority of people are busy walking around Lake or on playground with children. Update: Have now done the walk, great but avoid peak hours or you will be moving for people and dogs all the time.

A great beautiful, relaxing place to go for a run or walk. You can bring your dog around the lake area and they have a great dog park as well. They have a cafe and sailing club as well you can stop by if you want a coffee or if you want to rent a sailboat to take out on the water.

A great location with great views. Unfortunately the 4.0km walkway around the lake is too narrow. There is no obvious reason as to why the path couldn't have been made wider other than cost. The amount of cyclists and foot traffic warrant it being wider.

I love the walk around the lake, just pop in my headphones & go!! It's an awesome place if you have children, mine love riding their bikes or scooters around the lake, stopping to play on both parks & using the gym equipement along the way

Nice flat walk about 4km around the lake. Not much shade, so we go either early morning or late afternoon. Small Cafe there that makes good coffee.

  • 5/5 Faith G. 2 years ago on Google
About 4km of walking track has everything bikes, scooters, electric scooters, skateboarders, skaters, runners, prams. Etc etc. and plenty of room for them all. Most people are friendly, decent and courteous. Great community place. Also a good place for a local picnic and sunset / sunrise.

This memorial park is situated right next to Southport Yacht club means added benefit of water sports. It has got Barbecue plates, toilets and kids playing area. Car parking area near park is not enough you need to go down towards yacht club which has got ample parking. It's not the sort of a park for which you will drive for one hour but it is a good stopover place for a while, if you are going that way

Great place to take the kids for a play. There's a good playground, a walking track alongside the water, and you can watch the sunset on the water, which makes the place even more beautiful. Some people practise aquatic sports such as kayaking or jet skiing there too.

Great view and a good place for either a picnic or even to exercise~ the path around the lake is 4km so it is definitely a great place to exercise (jog, cycle, etc)~ Has a big dog park with obstacles so great for dogs to, if not in the dog park dogs can be around but on a leash~ Playground for little children so the place is a great area for the whole family~
