Lovely place for a visit. The coffee was nice at the cafe and food looked delicious. Beautiful views across the lake and the dam itself. Not many shady spots for a picnic lunch unless you’re happy to sit on rocks. Shame there weren’t more shady trees around.

Beautiful location where you can walk across the dam to capture some scenic views. Sunset/sunrise would be lovely to experience from here. Ample parking and clean toilet area. Coffee was great at the cafe, wide range of ice creams. dissapointed they couldn't offer the pancakes at 12pm because it is part of breakfast menu. On a hot summer day I am sure customers would love more sweet dishes as brunch rather than a warm toast.

If you have the time and are looking for something to do Hinze Dam should be added to your list. It is such a great spot to come check out. We made the trip out from the Gold Coast and so glad we did, we spent hours walking around, looking at all the different parts of the dam and trying to think how things work lol. We then went to the View Cafe for lunch, was excellent also! There are clean toilets here for you to use and have a great time with the whole family.

Managed by SEQ water and it's one of my favorite dam to visit. The view and the designed park area on the top of the dam are beautiful and very suitable for family and kids to spend a morning or afternoon. Walking on the dam is also very enjoyable but it's a shame they close at night. Otherwise it will be a great spot to take astrophotography like milkyway photos.

One of the few dams within less than a 50km radius of Central Logan worth travelling to see. It's about a 4km walk from the cafe to the end of the trail that crosses on top of the dam wall and back. Very nice views on this walk too. Take an umbrella and maybe even some sunscreen on a hot summer day.

My son and I visit for lunch and a bike ride or walk. The cafe is great for a quick bite and coffee , tea or ice cream. The view from the cafe is also beautiful! We love the walking tracks and every time we have gone (weekdays) it's never very busy.

A must visit if you are visiting Surfers Paradise. It's just 20KM away and a beautiful scenic place. Decent parking and was not crowded. There is also a Cafe which closes after 6.00 PM.

The Hinze Dam (the dam is the wall holding back the waters of Advancetown Lake), is situated about an hour’s drive south of Brisbane or a half hours drive from the Gold Coast. On arrival at Hinze Dam, you’ll find there are 3 main areas in the Day Use Area: 1. The Dam Wall 2. A viewing area of the spillway and carpark 3. Further down the road an excellent Picnic Ground, Playground, Toilets, and plenty of car parking spaces On arrival head to the top car park, here you'll find the View Café and Visitor Centre. Grab a coffee and some treats, pull up a table out on the deck, the views of the Parklands and Advancetown Lake are sensational. Have a wander through the Visitor Information Centre before heading off on a trek exploring the Dam Wall. This is a very easy walk along the top of the dam, also with magnificent views. This pathway also doubles up as a the start of the Mountain Bike Precinct and a network of bike trails. Leave the top car park and head back down the entry road, stop at the next smaller car park, you'll find here you can get up very close to the spillway. If it's been raining and the dam is spilling what a sight. Brilliant spot for some pictures and maybe a selfie or two. Head back down the road a little bit further it's time for the kids to have a run around. There is a good playground, the toilets are next door, and a picnic area with a number of BBQ's with seating and shelters. The Hinze dam is a top spot for a day trip destination and is very popular with day-trippers, locals and tourists. ROAD TRIP'N

If you're looking for something to do outdoors with the family, heading to Hinze Dam is a worthwhile venture. The walk over the dam wall offers a real perspective of the engineering prowess and a beautiful vantage point for the surrounds. There is parking however can be quite busy, this also goes for the onsite café. There are walks around the dam area available to do but be mindful how windy it can become as you cross the wall.

Good Hangout Place and a short Drive/Ride from Gold Coast. It takes around 20-25 minutes to reach there from the coast. Visit from Great Views. Must try a Good Coffee at the View Cafe. You'll also get a view of kangaroos jumping around the Dam area! Also visited this place when it was raining and the rain makes it 100 times better! They also have bike trails available for different levels, with Bike Repair area at the start of the Dam entrance.

Really great place for an easy, interesting walk along the dam. I noticed at the turning point a map showing 4 mountain bike trails.Wow, it's a shame my bike is back in the UK, I'd love to try them, I even spotted some Kangaroos on the walk.

Nice picnic spot and great walk from one end of the dam to the other and back...about an hour for the moderate walker. For that up with a coffee and lunch at the Cafe. Good days outing.

Great place to come to visit and have a look. Cafe onsite for food and drinks. Dam wall can be walked along. Good place for a walk and to bring even the family. Not too far from the Gold Coast.

Great for walkers and local MTB riders. Not a lot of tracks and trails for MTB but what's there is good enough if nearby. Nice restaurant and cafe but parking was quite tight.

Great place to visit, check out where our water comes from, and some of the infrastructure behind it.

Great spot for a nice walk for any fitness level or age. We saw a wallaby and python while here. The cafe is good, somewhere to chill at before or after. Nice parks for kids to play at but need more playgrounds & park benches or other places to sit. Could be made more user friendly because it’s a gorgeous spot.

We were here on a hot Tuesday afternoon and did not take a walk along the trails. Given another chance, we would be here in the morning for a nice long walk. There is plenty of parking and a cafe here.

It's a great place to go they have a Cafe up at the top of the dam they do good food and a good walk on the dam to the other side and back might end up seeing Kangaroos lying down and they also have a information centre and a map of the area as well other than that great place to go.

Great day trip from the Gold Coast. The dam was built across the Nerang River in 1976 and supplies the Gold Coasts water. The dam wall is huge, you can walk across it and the dam is usually full. If the level is too high the spillway automatically drains the excess. The reservoir is called Advancetown lake and it’s stocked with fish.

Loved the information around the place about the dam. Very easy to find and a great place to spend a couple of hours. The lady in the Cafe was absolutely wonderful and made the whole experience really enjoyable!

Hinze dam and the spillway is well worth a visit. You are able to walk across the dam wall and there are great views of the dam on one side and the valley on the other. The visitor center has food available although we didn't partake of it. The spillway was spilling when we were there although that is something that will only happen when the dam is full so don't expect it to be the same.

Always a great place to go especially when the water is over the spillway. Nice coffee, good toilets and plenty of parking. You can picnic below the dam, w free electric bbqs available

Great place for long walk exercise and fresh air. Not too far from surfers paradise about 30 minutes drive, enjoy the scenic drive, free entry and great place for coffee and cakes friendly staff 😄. Beautiful view love it here. Great place for bike ride for the kids. The weather little bit cloudy but beautiful out there. ❤️

There are loads of facts about the dam and wild life in and around the dam. I plan on bring my kids back to show them what we can do if we put our minds too it. It was over cast when I visited and just about to rain. But the view was still beautiful.
