If I could give zero I would. Avoid if possible. We requested that the ambulance NOT send us to Ipswich hospital as they got close to killing my partner some years ago. Ambulance called at 5.17pm. Still waiting at 3.30am to see a doctor. And the doctors are too busy..... have politely requested to see a Dr for the past 5+ hours. All requests denied. Patient exhibiting signs of serious time critical medical event, similar to previous severe life limiting medical events. Staff doing their best I'm told. And i believe so. Truly upsetting. So please avoid. There's no capacity for timely medical treatment.

This is the second time this week that I have presented to this hospital and have been ignored and left in agonising pain. My GP referred me back as urgent care for the second time. Both times I've been treated appallingly and have left in tears. I understand that there is COVID happening, I understand that we have to be patient but waiting as long as we are have to in pain is disgusting. I witnessed an elderly lady being ignored while begging for help while at least 4 people in the nurses station ignored her. This is not the way that the sick and injured should be treated. I asked for some pain relief and waited over an hour with a pain score of 8 to just be ignored. Going back a second time to ask for help I was treated like a nuisance and was told after already by this point waiting four hours I would be looking at waiting another 6+ hours. this is not ok. I have sung nothing but love and praises for this hospital but these two experiences and the lack of care and empathy from the nurses/staff has honestly made me never want to step foot back in this hospital again.

Have only had terrible and traumatising experiences. Today I was told either there is something wrong with my kidneys or I have blood clots in my lungs. I was then ignored in the waiting room for seven hours. Given pain medication twice but only after waiting over an hour for them to bring it when they said they’d be right out. Was ignored and spoken down to by the doctor, who wouldn’t listen and threatened me with security for crying. Ended up discharging myself, with no treatment as I couldn’t sit in the full waiting room in pain any longer.

I’m currently 33 weeks pregnant. Been pregnant long enough to know how my ultrasounds should feel physically. Also, knowing that my baby is big enough to be seen on the ultrasound. I had my 31 weeks scan done by a nurse who was on “training” had no guidance with her. She was doing good, I wasn’t feeling any pain (as usual for my ultrasounds) although She needed guidance 20mins into the scan. She went to seek help through a senior nurse. This senior nurse walked in with negative energy, she didn’t even smile, walked straight to the computer, grabbed the ultrasound remote and started scanning, PRESSING HARD INTO MY BELLY!!!! She saw I was in pain and continued. I knew she felt my unborn child kick against her push because she mentioned it herself “wow that was a big kick” and still pushed hard into my belly with this ultrasound remote. I have never been in so much pain during an ultrasound, even worse the cream on my belly was dried up hence why they couldn’t see my baby properly but they still proceeded to TRY and see my unborn child WITH DRIED UP CREAM!! After this my tummy felt bruised for at least 2hrs. Very disgusting behaviour from these nurses. I’m writing here because I’ve emailed the hospital several times and still no one has replied.

I've heard horrible things about this hospital my whole life and got to experience it yesterday. I came into emergency as I'd had complete loss of pregnancy symptoms and the last time that happened I had a miscarriage. I felt invalidated by the doctor who saw me. He said that it wasn't an emergency as I had no pain or bleeding (missed miscarriages don't have these symptoms, you can have a dead baby and your body doesn't recognise to reject it yet) and deemed it not important enough to even have a quick look on the sonographer to check if my baby was still alive. I don't raise my voice or talk to people in a rude way but when it comes to my baby you best bet I will. I could even hear him talking to the "head" doctor, saying it was nothing of concern and how I just seem anxious. Horrible hospital. In 2021, a car hit us in an intersection. My son was two weeks old and they did no checks over him. He had a massive lump on his head... we ended up going to Mater Children's the next day to get properly assessed. Just a horrible hospital. I will add though, the nurse at front counter in ED was very nice and comforting. Don't know his name but he put me through fast track. Also, I had a scroll just now through their reviews and you can tell they don't care because it's the same paragraph repeated. What a joke!

If your having a child, find another hospital. Midwives all giving different information. Maternity ward constantly chatting about how they hate the hospital and deserve better, yet they couldn't even perform their job. We ended up having to take a unwashed new born home. The RN who gave us home visit the following day was amazing and cleared all the mis-information.

I don’t know how this hospital manage to even get a 2 .8 rating. I’ve never had to wait so long in emergency all my life. I presented with severe, abdominal and back pain. The staff were rude from the onset, but I waited, regardless as I was in significant pain. Three hours later and sitting in what was essentially a school chair I was in pain to the point of tears. I went up to the counter and told them that I was going to have to leave because the long wait and seating was putting me through agony. They basically said OK then. That night took an ambulance to a different hospital with appendicitis. Don’t waste your time. Going to the hospital.

The Oncology Staff on Floor 7 and those on Floor 4 are the Most Professional Staff I have ever met. Doctors, Specialists, Nurses, Pharmacy Staff, Front Desk Nurses/Staff and Volunteers are So Confident and Caring, Their Attitudes Toward Their Work And Their Patients Is Totally Outstanding With So Very Many Expectations They Endure. Blessings to Them All.

Inconsistent, unprofessional hospital I have ever experienced. Ive had 2 babies in 2 different states - this is the worst conducted hospital I have ever experienced over Australia. I have experienced ED, Maternity and the poor antenatal care at this hospital. All just as poor as each other. There is no system - all staff are running there own rules it seems and are inconsistent with each other. The communication with each other is inconsistent and they have breech of privacy issues. Do yourself a favour like I am and go somewhere else!! Completely broken and most definitely not due to covid! It was well broken before then. Its beyond a complaints link. Would have given 0 stars if I could have.

Do not come to the emergency dept. if you aren't in an ambulance. I have been twice to Emergency Department and have left after 7+ hour waits still not being seen even after having told them I was having breathing difficulties. Since it's a public service there is no accountability to anyone or any fear of them losing funding since it's just all tax payer money.

Even with 'free' services like public hospitals, there is always room to improve... It just seems Ipswich hospital not only has no desire to improve their current services, but they actively defend their current level of services too. The ingrained culture of the workers at Ipswich hospital is 'get what you're given and be grateful, this is a free service'. Workplace cultures are always Top-down, so this is how the managers of the hospital think because it's how the majority of the staff I interacted with acted. It seems you have a gamble of the staff looking after you. I'd say the ratio is maybe 10% great 10% good 20% bare basic 60% poor Pain management overall 3/10 Pain management after surgery 0/10 Food quality/quantity during stay 0/10 Caring from staff ward nurses 2/10 Caring from doctors 1/10 If you're looking to start intermittent fasting, then Ipswich Hospital is the place to come. The food provided is truly garbage, so you may only eat some of it. In addition to being trash food, they bring the bare basic smallest portions and god forbid if you ask for more food, the nurses don't like that because it means they have to go begging around other hospital wards for scraps. I have been hungry every single day since I got here 5 days ago. Every. Single. Day. And if you wait for it, Ipswich hospital might just respond to this review with their copy-and-paste reply they provide all their negative reviews on Google. Let's see what happens.

I wish I could give no star due to very bad experience with physio staff. The rude and misbehave staff chatting with on the phone. I had appointment at 2:30 on Friday 22nd December 2023 just 2 hours ago. I was on way to hospital and gave them a call and said that I will be there in 15 minutes due to traffic, I had someone who drove me to the hospital, but the rude staff just kept saying that on the phone , she would to rescheduled my appointment. I did explained that I have sever pain and disability in movement but she didn't care!!!!😭. I'm very disappointed with that behaviour.

The nursing staff are brilliant .the doctors are laughable with the way they conduct themselves. It is no use complaining to liason team complete waste of time. Complain higher than that. We are there because we are not well. Not to be treated as animals. Yes you are busy and understaffed but that is a matter for your hospital not the public

Thank you to your Staff on 4F. We appreciate everything you have done. From when the Ambulance picked Jeff up to his stay in 4F everyone has given him the best care & showed him Respect for an older gentleman with Dementia. That care was shown to other people in the ward as well. Thank you all Bless your Staff. 🦋🦋🙏🏻🙏🏻

We had the most wonderful experience at Ipswich hospital with our newly born son. We were rushed in from a home birth but were extremely well looked after. Special mention to Midwives Wendy and Charlotte and Dr Mel who delivered our son. Your duty of care, treatment of us as ‘humans’ was exemplary.

The worst hospital I have ever visited, with poor medical emergency service. I wouldn't recommend anyone with an urgent medical condition to go to this hospital. I had abdominal pain and bleeding when I visited them first, but after a long waiting time, I was discharged due to a lack of instrument in the emergency department and was told to come the next day to the clinic. However, my pain and the bleeding got worse and end up in the emergency department the next day. They let me stay the in the reception for more than 7 hours. The best thing they did was to take blood which they repeated after several hours, telling me that the first blood sample clotted. Self-discharge was the best thing I did after waiting for their help for more than 7 hours. I lost my child at the time, but I would also have lost my life if I had stayed there longer. Thank God I went to Mater hospital, which treated my condition very seriously with good empathy and professionalism. My recommendation to Ipswich hospital would be to have a separate emergency department for Obs/Gyn patients, pediatrics and surgical cases.

This hospital is the worst!! The ratings need to have zero stars!! I presented my 3yr old to emergency as he had shortness of breath and was breathing very fast along with a high temp the Asian male nurse was extremely rude as I tried to tell him my son needs to be seen as he could not breath he did not access him he could clearly see he was struggling and did not care he told we had to sit and wait minimum 3 hours absolutely disgusting! i left immediately and I am so glad I did I drove all the way to the children’s hospital in the city in the state he was doctors seen him straight away and told me i brought him just in time literally he’s was in a very bad state thank god for QLD children’s hospital I will definitely be pushing this to the health department and the news aswell. PLEASE EVERYONE STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOSPITAL!!

My husband was in a motorcycle accident last Friday the 8th of December and ALL the doctors and nurses were Amazing keeping me updated and having so much compassion for me and my husband they went above and beyond to help us, he suffered lots of injuries and they made sure no stone was left unturned, the nurses in short stay and ward 5F were all Amazing people the doctors later were amazing, they all worked so incredibly hard and I saw and heard them being abused by the public so much I was disgusted that people can treat doctors and nurses that way, our family are incredibly grateful for all their support and help and made sure when we went home we had support I got given stuff for his wounds so I could change them if needed and bags for his leg to keep it dry, I fully appreciate all there hard work and compassion on a day when it felt like my whole world feel apart , so to all who helped and support our family and especially my husband Brendon THANK YOU THANK YOU💙

My partner was admitted to emergency at 2:30 pm with a broken hand, they made him wait for 6 hours to be seen He asked for pain killers but they said no, saying he doesn't need them. When he finally seen the doctor, they tried saying it was fine but yet the cast was flimsy as. The doctor was absolutely rude to him the whole time. We both thought that hospitals were about helping people instead of being rude and trying to get out of doing work. The stuff really need a wake up call and start actually doing their job and treat people better

I came in for a dental abscess. I spent 3 nights while awaiting surgery. I had a great overall experience but wanted to mention a certain nurse. Kristen on ward 6D 27/10/2022. She was also my nurse on a prior night. Very caring bed-side manner. Always making sure I was comfortable. Went out of her way to help with certain things when asked. All the nurses were caring and supportive but Kristen made an impact. Nurses like Kristen need recognition as they genuinely care for everyone under their care. I didn't get the name of the nurse I had for 26/10/2022 but she also went out of her way to help me. I'm coeliac and the hospital was not able to provide a suitable dinner meal for me. She went and sourced a butter chicken meal that was tasty. This was something that was well above her duties. Definitely would come back if I needed to.

Without doubt, the slowest and most understaffed hospital I have ever been to in South-East Queensland. How ironic, given the very meaning of an Emergency Room suggests providing a swift service that could sometimes be the difference between life and death. I can assure you my patient and I received the very opposite of swift. Perhaps, the estranged step-mother of swift is how I would describe our experience on that night. Upon arrival with my patient at 11pm on the night of 22 November, my patient was put on hold in the waiting area and kept there for the entirety of night, only to be attended to at 6am the next morning. Yes, there were a lot of people on the night but the lead nurse at the front of house did her workplace no favours with the plethora of vulgarities she insisted on uttering any time I asked her what was happening. All she would say is just “hang on a moment” while she continued to type endlessly into the computer. Some clarity on the exact length of this ”moment” that she seemed to be so resolute in alluding to would most definitely be appreciated in future. Management ought to lecture front of house staff on conduct as this seems to be a recurring theme in the aforementioned reviews.

Its a hospital not a place you really want to visit unless you have to.. 😂 Have been admitted a few times however my last visit not as pleasant a visit as on previous occasions. Felt the staff were too busy on their computers to worry about the patients.. Right outside the "Nurses" station and nobody spoke with me or my carers after being admitted to their ward from Emergency.. I think someone should have checked on me when I was admitted to the ward not only after a wait of over 2 hours.

Never, in my extensive hospital history have I had to wait 7 hours to see a doctor. I've been in 10/10 pain and no one has offered me anything to help with the pain. People who have been here for an hour have been seen before me, even tho they don't seem overly ill. I, in that time have seen a poor lady having an MS attack be waiting for 5 hours and ended up at a different hospital. I'm a nice person, I hate saying anything to anyone about how I'm feeling about things but I am furious with this. Let's disregard the fact that no one will do surgery on me even though we all know that's what I need... stuff this place, just drive to Brisbane.

Unfortunately I didn’t have a good experience with Ipswich Hospital. I was taken there after a motocross accident out in Coulson on 6 December 2020. I suffered a dislocated knee and was taken there by QAS ( the QAS paramedics were fantastic & really appreciate their assistance). I arrived on Sunday 6 December & had to make the decision to discharge myself 5 days later due to lost confidence. I had to ask my wife to drive me to the GCUH & re check in there. Once I was seen to at GCUH I felt relieved .. until I was told I now have a blood clot (advised more than likely caused from my 5 days sitting in a bed at Ipswich hospital). I’m currently awaiting full knee reconstruction & am considered high risk for surgery until my blood clot issue is under control. The longer surgery is delayed the greater the risk of another dislocation & possible artery damage. I wouldn’t recommend Ipswich Hospital for anything significant.

Long waiting times in ED, you would need to pack food and bedding for yourself to camp out!! Staff are VERY RUDE and have NO EMPATHY!!! What a horrible experience!! This hospital and staff should be ashamed of themselves!! And as for your customer liaison officer, DON"T BOTHER!! I have dealt with them before and they are just as rude as the rest of your staff! Worst Hospital in South East Queensland, wouldn't wish it upon anyone!!

For someone presenting with a possible TIA the attention was appalling, stood against a wall for over an hour till I finally got a seat and have had the pleasure of seating here currently over 3 hours watching almost nothing happening for anyone, a period of an hour drifted by with not a single person taken into the next room for further help. Finally some nurses came out and went around everyone checking temps and heart rates and finally my blood pressure.. Maybe the staff here are busy making tiktok videos.

I am an outpatient in the Gynaecology Department, and have been diagnosed with a 5cm ovarian cyst, which always gives me pain. All I want is for the cyst to be removed, but I have had to endure needless expensive procedures for reasons unknown to me and still no surgery. I am currently looking into going to a different hospital.

Absolutely pathetic customer service at the reception, rude arrogant staff. They talk about being spoken to nicely well that is a two way street. Completely ignored my Drs instructions and despite telling them about my unbearable pain they have me in waiting. I Understand every life matters but if I am saying I am in pain and I can't stand for too long I mean it. Not impressed, guess it's just another day of business for them. My life is as less important as any one else her in the waiting.

I had a complicated appendectomy at Ipswich Hospital in 2019 and my partner had extensive treatment here for cancer over the last year and a bit, including several surgeries. This hospital is excellent. Big enough to have the equipment, the skilled staff and a high level of care. Small enough that you don't feel like you're just one of a million 'customers'...like being in a massive capital city hospital. For very complex procedures that they can't handle they'll likely send you to the PA Hospital anyway, but comparing the two - Ipswich Hospital is a less stressful place to go and to be in. The Nurses are excellent in our experience.

Update 02/01/22 After receiving another coarse of antibiotics I am feeling much better. Being told I had asthma and not a chest infection, it appears my partner who has never had asthma in his life now has it also. He has gone down to the doctors and has now confirmed it was an infection, not asthma. So I was admitted into hospital at 12.20pm on Monday 20/12/21 with respiratory issues. I told the ER triage that I think I have asthma which is made worse because of the chest infection I think I have also. I was admitted immediately then given 12 puffs of ventolin with 4 breaths per puff. I improved however I was still coughing thick green stuff up. I was told that’s asthma even though I am a life long sufferer since a small child. I spent 12 hours there, given a covid test and lectured about how to use ventolin. Now I never have had trouble with my asthma unless I have a chest infection. Two separate nurses lectured me about how to use the ventolin still ignoring me about the green mucus. I was discharged the next morning, two days later and I can’t breath again thick green mucus present still. So last night I took two roxithromycin from the last time I was sick and I can finally breathe. Extremely disappointed with how the drs treated me, very dismissive of anything I said. Even though I have had this my whole life. Hoping I don’t need them again.

My friend was recently admitted to the hospital over the last 24 hours. They have lower abnormal pain and wanted to get a diagnosis. Unfortunately the nurse they had was incredibly rude and disrespectful, being autistic they were feeling quite over stimulated in such a busy environment causing them to go non verbal - the nurse was not even close to understanding the situation and ignored the fact that they were having difficulties communicating. Their partner was next to them trying to speak for them, however the nurse constantly ignored and belittled them. They ended up leaving and going to another hospital - and still are waiting on results. They are unsure of what is wrong still and leaving this longer is causing bucket loads of stress. Its shocking how terrible they were made to feel, they cannot remember the name of the nurse however I think it is important to ensure each one of your staff of aware of how this can affect a person. My friend was in tears at 1am because they just want to figure out whats happeing before Christmas, but was left feeling embarrassed and insecure of themselves. Very unprofessional, a hospital should be making you feel comfortable to be able to speak up for your pain.

Even though my visits were due to poor decisions, I was treated unbelievably like I was there child.. I do understand the pressure which may accompany the doctors and nurses there.. offered food and water, and was seen too several times of my short stay. Only one thing I can't get use to is my own discrepancies of the hard beds and very cold temperatures. Other than that awesome carers.

FYI we avoided a long wait by organising a doctor home visit to determine if we needed to present to hospital or not. It’s bulk billed in Ipswich. I recommend this option. **Ipswich Hospital** Professional and friendly in a tough environment. Treated our son who was ordered to ED by a doctor. ED triage - warm and professional. ED nurses so lovely and reassuring. The doctor’s all knowledgeable and happy to answer questions. I wouldn’t want to trade places! So hats off to them. Our son has been in safe hands.

The homeless sleeping in the waiting room get treated better than patients and offered a hot drink and a sandwich and a blanket....which is great in my opinion just a pity as a patient you have to sit there thirsty hungry and cold for 6 hours offered nothing then have to hitch-hike home because informed paramedics just get you there after that your on your own. Even if I thought I was having a heart attack I wouldn't ever go to this hospital again oh and there is no soap in the toilets and I don't thinkthis hospital has been cleaned si ce 2021 iv been in public toilets that have been cleaner

Two and a half stars for the hospital as a whole and five stars for the doctors and nurses that have to work at this understaffed underfunded, behind the times hospital. No stars for the government on both sides of the aisle, that have neglected this hospital for years under several different government administrations. I have had good and bad experiences here. My opinion is, that the bad times I have had here, were due to severe understaffing. The nurses have always been great, but way too busy. The doctors are way too scarce and overworked. I have turned up for a surgery, only to find they had set up for a type of surgery, that was not what I was told I would have, on the day. Unsupervised patients, on strong meds, have jumped and fallen from upper floors in this hospital, due to understaffing. They keep adding buildings to this hospital, but the wait time for services are still incredibly long, due to lack of funding and understaffing. With the area growing faster than any place in Australia, you would think the emphasis would be on making this hospital a regional hub, of the highest standard. I feel sorry for anyone that has to work here. Having been in health care myself, I can tell it would be a terrible place to work. The government needs to step up their game and quit gutting our services. It's killing people, literally and figuratively.

I had a positive experience at Ipswich Hospital during my recent 4-day stay. The entire team, including nurses, doctors, and surgeons, was exceptionally friendly and caring. The high-tech infrastructure with advanced devices further enhanced the quality of care. No complaints whatsoever – a commendable healthcare experience

My father has been hospitalised for three weeks, and this is not the first time it has happened. Since I live 40 minutes away, I called to enquire about his condition overnight. However, the lady who answered the phone was quite abrupt and mentioned that they were currently very busy. She offered me the option to hold or call back later. I understand that the nurses are overloaded with work and are not paid enough, so I wasn't expecting to be transferred to my father's ward. However, it was disappointing to hear such an unprofessional response from a receptionist and being the first time I have ever rang for an update.

We had our second child in this Hospital and have to give this hospital 5 starts for their patients care. We recently re located to Brisbane and choosing this hospital is one of the best decisions we took. Without a doubt the Antenatal care Unit is one of the best we’ve ever seen In a hospital. And after birth all the staff helped my postpartum wife with such a wonderful way. Keep up your great work team.

I am leaving this review as I have had a lot of and mixed experiences with this hospital. My experience with the mental health ward. Terrible, 0 stars. That's not why I'm leaving this here. I had a surgery Monday. Came in for a cyst removal. Or so I thought. Came out with a hernia repair. Before my surgery the nurse, although I know he wasn't aiming to cause harm, caused a lot of harm. As a medical professional you should know not to treat things such as eating disorders with such insensitivity. He said multiple times about how the blankets are going to weigh more than I do. Along with a few other things. I have been diagnosed with ARFID and I've been trying really hard to beat it. Being reminded that I'm tiny isn't helpful. Last time I weighed myself I was under 50 kilos and that broke me. I've been trying so hard for so long to get better and I was doing so well. When I weighed myself before my surgery I exclaimed with delight! I was 50 kg!!! I should have said something to the nurse but a lot comes along with being malnourished. One of those things being anxiety. Anyway. I just want to inform you so that things can change when it comes to patients treatments. I have a lot of respect and care for health workers. Being a bit of a hypercondiact i tend to spend a lot of time with my gp and in the emergency. Ive been brought down from many panic attacks by these beautiful people. So thank you for that. After my surgery one of the nurses was checking my temperature under my tongue therefore I couldn't speak up at the right moment. As I regretfully didn't get to earlier. Unlike the first nurse I didn't speak with him about my eating disorder. He proceeded to assume I was anorexic and started speaking about it with another nurse right in front of me. Not only was he wrong. But do you know how damaging it can be to someone's recovery to assume something like that? I have no body dismorphia, I have a traumatised relationship with food. My point being. Eating disorders are the leading killers in mental health. And majority of those eating disorders are 'tiny people'. There is not enough help around them. Most of the time the thin ones are the ones that never get help. Please educate your staff. This particular week of my surgery my thoughts were not good, I'm lucky I have support, but if i were someone who didn't. I probably wouldn't be here today. Please keep in mind that there is more to your job than understanding people's physical health and that mental health, the way you talk about things like this with patients or around them, especially eating disorders is really important. I'm begging you to bring this to attention. This isn't the first time I've had experiences like this at Ipswich hospital. I do, however, hope this is the last. You want to help treat sick people. Small people with lower blood pressure who are cold are like that for numerous reasons. Help us get better. Don't help us get worse.

I am shocked at how insensitive some of the doctors are in this hospital. I visitied my dear friend who has a terminal cancer. My friend is in her fifties and was back at hospital to get another blood transfusion. The doctor told her to stop taking the blood and pick a day to die. He siad she was wasting the blood that could go to a 19 year old car crash victim ??? she is a mother of seven and wants to live. The doctor did not care, i am disgusted! The only positive was the caring nurses. My friend and her family will be making a formal complaint

15 mins late for an appointment through no fault of mine. When I got there I was told they didn't know whether I was able to be seen. She made a call and was told that I could still be seen but I had to wait nearly an hour later I was still waiting. The receptionists in medical imaging need lessons on empathy. Totally rude and lacking in customer care. Please don't even bother with the automated reply as in reality Ipswich Hospital does not take patients review seriously.

My daughter was admitted on the weekend to Ipswich hospital. We spent time in the ER and then surgical ward for a couple of nights. From the time we arrived the staff at reception, triage, ER, ward 4 E and theatre with an amazing surgeon and nurses. These staff in all these areas were simply amazing they were professional, diligent, competent, kind, happy, funny and Friendly. I felt confident leaving my 17 year old Doctor knowing she was in the very best hands. I can not express how wonderful the staff were and what it meant to a mum that had never left her daughter before and for a 17 year-old that had never been to hospital before. A BiG thank you.

I'd like thank the wonderful staff and great care my husband recently received at the IGH. My husband was admitted to have an ORIF for a fractured distal fibula. From the staff at ED who took great care of him last Sunday, the front door, when we looked and were completly lost as to where to go, the Fracture Clinic, the Day Surgery staff. As this was my husband's first ever op, at the age of 58, the theatre staff made him felt at ease. Lastly, the angels that took great care of him on ward 5F. I know this hospital can get some awful reviews, but his experience, especially his first, made what is usually a scary time, more comfortable and he felt at ease. Thank you to all, your work and care is forever appreciated.

Wow, I had both my kids here over 10 years ago and the maternity ward is great, but that's where it ends. 2 days later I'm still waiting for my daughters xray results from a possible thumb break, seven hours in the emergency room on Tuesday night with my teenage daughter in tears and shaking at the pain, watching the staff behind the glass stand around telling jokes, laughing, while all of us sat and waited. I get there's a pandemic but for actual emergencies, next time I'll go to the private hospital and pay out of pocket fees because my medicare surcharge and levy paid through taxes is obviously not good enough to receive public health care. We are supposed to have great healthcare in Australia so management need to pull their fingers out and deal with the lack of medical staff in facilities. BTW we left without seeing a real doctor or getting any diagnosis or treatment.

Yesterday evening I suffered a severe asthma attack and was attended to by an ambulance. They recommended that I go to hospital for further investigation. They took me to Ipswich Hospital where I was taken to the Emergency waiting room and sat for seven hours with no treatment. At around midnight they took my vitals and sent me back out to the waiting room. My asthma worsened and the staff ignore my situation. At 2am in the morning my wife gave up and drove me home so she could administer the appropriate medication for my condition (Prednisone and Ventolin which I did not have with me).

I'm sure the doctor's have shares in the carpark. My husband had a post op appointment for 9am. We waited for 2 hours then asked what was happening, we were told that we were next. When he finally got to see the doctor all he said was "you were all clear you can go" he was only in there for 30 seconds. $9 parking fee.

I had my second baby via elective cesarean at Ipswich Hospital in May. Due to the traumatic nature of my first birth (emergency cesarean) I was absolutely terrified of having another cesarean but believed it would be safer for myself and my baby girl. The doctors, nurses and midwives I interacted with were wonderful. They noticed I was anxious and did everything in their power to ease my nerves. I'm so grateful to everyone who looked after me during my stay.

Had the unfortunate incident of rolling a ride on mower down a steep embankment with the mower coming to rest on top of me. (The blades were off) My wife took me to Ipswich Public (against my will) and I would have to say, she made the right choice... again. From the girl who took me into emergency, the guy who took my details at admin (who rightly told me off) the English girl filling out details on computer, the X-ray girl, nurse giving me pain killers to the Doctor who assessed and treated me.... every single one of you guys were amazing. I can not speak highly enough of you... right down to the security guys who helped me into the passenger seat when discharged..... I trust I haven't overlooked anyone but I just wanted to say, Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You guys are truly amazing. God bless you, keep safe and well. Kindest Regards, Art

A real indication of how good a hospital is, is when there is a problem, but it is dealt with promptly and effectively. I was concerned about a lack of communication from the hospital regarding my elderly father. But it was very easy to contact customer care and the person I spoke with was very helpful and understanding. Subsequently, I've found all the medical and nursing staff to be very good at communicating and seemingly very competent. Considering all the pressures of a public hospital and the frequent abuse staff receive, I think Ipswich hospital does an excellent job.

  • 5/5 Robert L. 2 years ago on Google
The staff do an amazing job at this hospital, considering the constant self entitled scum that walks through its doors. They expect the hospital staff to solve all of their medical problems on the spot without taking a long hard look in the mirror. Carry on smoking your cigarettes, eat your McDonald's, drink your alcohol and take your legal drugs, then wonder why you have health problems afterwards! Couldn't possibly be your fault, it's the hospitals fault. 😀

Took my elderly mum there today as I'm her full time career and also fully vaccinated thought I could be with her in emergency but nope was not allowed . She is diabetic and had nothing since breakfast and was admitted to ER about 11am and when she came out to me at 3.30pm she was starving after telling staff in their she was diabetic still was not given any food or drink which is disgusting and not good patient care . Also one of the dr's that tried to take blood from her arm ,she explained to him you won't get blood out of it due to her veins he still persisted and was very cruel to her and even left her bleeding once he removed the canula . Not happy at all with this treatment and will be making a more formal complaint about this .

My husband and I and other family members have been a number of times to emergency. Sometimes minor and we wait- other times major and we have not had to wait. Calling ambulances for minor complaints doesn’t help the waiting time. Staff are prompt and up to speed when there’s a need. One doctor during peck of covid and floods had not had a break, just kept working. I saw him pushing to complete tasks to get patients seen and treated. I think if the public want a fast selective service pay for it. Yes my taxes pay for it but acknowledge how fortunate we are with our health system

Although people are complaining about this hospital & probably from the ones that thaught covid, as well as it's variances, where no more than a cold. I have been a patient at this hospital. The staff treated me extremely well, while getting the rest I needed. 4 days later left the hospital feeling special & that I mattered. These beautiful people do thankless work despite their own risks or what troubles they may have in their personal lives. We all just need to be more grateful for the little blessings around us.

I've had a few interactions with this hospital over the years and have nothing but praise for them, but my most recent was when I had COVID19 and had to isolate at home for 7 days. Because I am considered vulnerable I was placed in their virtual ward. I received the antivirals, they were sent round to my home. I was called by the staff in their COVID unit every day until I was on the mend. As a side note, if you are in the ED and waiting a long time, it's because there is someone there who is sicker than you.

I was brought in by ambulance for a numb leg and very bad dizziness, I only called an ambulance because my GP thought I could be having a stroke. Sat in the “emergency” room for 4 hours, not to mention the 4 hour wait for an ambulance to show up at my house. People who came in after me who had a broken toe or ankle were seen before me. The “emergency” room was packed. I left after 4 hours, not seen by doctors in that time. It’s a disgrace. An absolute joke.

Everyone was caring, professional, friendly, knowledgeable and assuring. Every circumstance and occurrence was explained and confidently dealt with, I felt confident that staff knew exactly what they were doing. In between the seriousness there was also humour … it brought a sense of calm to the chaos in my mind. Big thank you to the team of Cardiologists … brilliant!

Torn between what rating to give the Maternity ward. The level of care was inconsistent. For the most part some of the staff were great; caring, compassionate and supportive. Other times they seemed to ignore the concerns and questions of the patient(s) and wouldn't communicate to anyone the slightest hint of what is going on. You should be working to ensure they are comfortable and relaxed and informed. Not constsntly distressed and begging to go home. Also, I get they are short staffed and the system is inherently lacklustre and difficult for staff to work with, but waiting upwards of 30 minutes when patients and children are in distress is pretty poor form.

I'm another reviewer wishing I could give you zero stars. Disgusting hospital, procedures performed without informed consent. Treatment of vulnerable patients is appalling. Complaints made in writing don't get answered - or you get a call from the 'team' and the complaint isn't addressed. Surgeons who think they are God make unilateral decisions without informing NOK. Hands down, has to be one of the worst public hospitals in SEQ. The entire hospital needs a complete review and investigation. I would put a complaint into the Ombudsman but looking at their reviews, it appears to be a waste of time.

I've had limited experience at Ipswich Hospital but it was a lot better then my visit to the Ripley Satellite Hospital. Although Ripley Satilette Hospital is a good idea, it's suppose to be for urgent care and seems to have attracted those types that should be seeing a GP, just like public hospitals often do. One big difference I found was I got regularly checked and treated as a person at Ipswich Hospital. That was not my experience at Ripley Satellite Hospital. Of course Ripley triage should sort out who's more in need but didn't on my visit. I arrived at Ripley with somewhat serious infection symptoms (as later diagnosed elsewhere). I was seen to for a total of 2 minutes (I guess by a nurse as she didn't introduced herself) and then left alone for well over an hour. This nurse seemed more concerned with chatting and offering tea or coffee to a patience's partner and attending to the patient next door. I never was seen to by a doctor. It appears he to was more concerned with the patient next door. While I waited and waited while experiencing pain, dizziness, nausea bleeding etc the patient next door had all attention. It was obvious she'd had assessments, scans etc before I arrived. Unfortunately I found little privacy there and I could overhear discussions going on around me. That is why I know her diagnosis was "a little bit of arthritis in the ankle". As I waited for my turn, at least 3 staff members chatted to her about her diagnosis. This went on for at least an hour and was still taking place as my friend and I left. Ridiculous. I've found West Moretons response pathetic. In fact after I privately messaged them on Facebook, they almost immediately posted a glowing, overinflated, back patting, high five type review about Ripley Satellite Hospital. This of course in turn encouraged much praise and fawning comments - the intention they hoped for, no doubt. Funny enough, there also seems to have been an attempt to hide my feedback (it initially worked but then I changed a few things and reposted) so suddenly an influx of glowing overinflated, back patting, high fiving reviews appeared. Suspicious to me but it doesn't cancel out my negative experience and only highlights how lacking my 'treatment' was. Anyway, the point of my review is if you need urgent medical care I'd say go to Ipswich Hospital because sadly but not unexpected, people are tying up Ripley with things that they should be seeing a GP for and it seems that Ripley had no problem prioritising these types over genuine urgent care cases.

Son has been in the children's ward for a few days, newly diagnosed with T1 diabetes and and three times he has become hypo or very close to hypo. If it wasnt for his family staying everynight and checking his blood glucos ourselves and alerting the nursers I shudder to think what the out come may be. The dont do the routine checks on time or enough of them. The nursers have zero care at night when trying to sleep, the talk about there personal lives and you hear everything, and because the kids are usually sleeping they swear too, totally unacceptable. I took out private health insurance for my child so that if he needs to go to hospital again we have a better chance of being taken anywhere else. This hospital not only needs the state government funding, it needs more staff training. Ipswich hospital needs to do far better. He was initially at the Queensland Childrens hodpital which was amazing, it such a shame.

I know the wait times can be crazy long but when I did go through the staff were excellent. All the nurses and doctors were fantastic and they had a positive attitude with a friendly, caring demeanour in a tough environment. Special mention to Steveo, Courtney and Ollie which were all great. Too many other names to remember but thank you.

I was admitted late yesterday afternoon via an ambulance. Without exception, I was treated with the utmost care and dignity by all staff members. They were overworked, but still managed to be caring and courteous not only to me, but to other patients too. I would like to make a special mention to the following staff members- Krissy and Kevvy in the ambulance, Ashton, Mikayla and Kate as nurses (or ambos, the Endone was kicking in at that stage) and Dr Chew. I was especially grateful to the orderly (?) extraordinaire Gail who was efficient and bubbly. These people were diligent and made the experience as smooth as could be expected.

There is a AIN her name is Jess blonde hair young lady in ward 6D extremely rude when pressed the buzzer for urgent patient care she came and said sorry they in a patient care meeting which must mean its more important than urgent care on the spot. I really hope she doesn't progress any further her understanding of patient care clearly needs more help.

Rude service. Female worker sent father out when she should have checked things on him that later sent him to the emergency room again making him completely ill. This would be avoided if she could’ve done her job right and checked these things off making sure he was ok and stable before sending him home. Should be fired as can’t do her job right. Would not recommend sending loved ones to this hospital

I had to wait almost 2 hours for my appointment with the fracture clinic and when I finally got called in the lady told me I had to wear a cast for 6 weeks for my fracture even though it was healed and it had been fractured almost 6 weeks ago. Once I told her that she completely changed her point and said It was healed and I could go back to doing normal workouts. They even had us get an X-ray before the appointment which I assume she didn't even check because she didn't even know where I had the fracture. Wouldn't recommend.
