Wouldn’t recommend anyone to go here. They do not care about a persons health at all. They treat it like a money making hotel & send people on their way once they got what they wanted from you. The nurses are some of the rudest nurses I’ve ever experienced. They gossip about patients, they make calls on medication when they’re not the doctor, they make you feel bad just asking for help like it’s a complete waste of time even when extremely ill, very unprofessional. You go to a hospital with good faith of getting better, not leaving the hospital with more problems & feeling emotionally drained from the Nurses for no reason. I just don’t get it, if they hate there jobs so badly or they have an ego trip of control (not even doctors) don’t be in a profession to improve someone’s health because it does impact people’s lives, the negativity reflects back on them. The location with the views of the ocean is the only appealing thing to people, other than that, please go somewhere else especially if you have a medical emergency.

Had two of our three kids born here 8 and 10 years ago. Was a great hospital then but there's been a change. ED doctors are rude and unhelpful if you have any complexity to your medical issue and prevent you from access to the hospital. When raised with the Hospital Coordinator you get a different but equally puzzling set of reasons as to the poor care. There seems to be a disconnect between services offered and those who are meant to place you there. I'd recommend another private hospital if it is anything beyond the straight forward broken bone, etc.

My partner and I recently had twins at John Flynn and the midwife’s there are terribly rude. We had such a bad experience and I wouldn’t recommend having a baby there at all. I’d say we had probably three midwife’s that we loved but the rest of them ruined our first few days of being parents. As first time parents I feel that they failed to provide us with the basic knowledge like changing a nappy or how to burp them. The only thing they cared about was pressuring my partner to breast feed. No one asked if we or our new born babies were ok, the only questions we were asked is how much breast milk have we expressed today.

Really disappointing! Had ACL and meniscus surgery, firstly the nurse staff and the doctors are amazing however the receptionist are seriously rude and need serious training on customer service skills! Being a private hospital you would think you would have state of the art technology and facilities…. Everything at your hospital is ridiculously out dated! Food was terrible - you get better food in public hospitals. I then had to hop and I mean hop into a wheelchair to go and have a X-ray then was told should be on a bed so had to hop onto that bed…. No wards man to help Extremely unprofessional!!! I pay for private health care and I should be receiving wayyy better than this!

After 4 weeks advocating for my mother while she was in here, I can confirm that this hospital is just another business and all they are concerned about is making money. Short staffed, incompetent staff, rude staff, and just a whole lot of butt covering is what I witnessed. No one to answer questions or assist us with discharge once they told her she had to go. Purely a case of the squeeky wheel gets the oil... thr only way to get answers or help was to make a noise. Appalled at the care provided.

I am from Brisbane and needed to go to emergency due to abdomen pain in my second trimester. The staff, doctors and nurses were so lovely and kind. Honestly one of the best hospitals I’ve been to.

Ann, the receptionist who organises cardiac inpatient appointments has been incredibly unpleasant and rude both times I've spoken to her. She seems to take pleasure in it. It has put me off coming to this hospital in the future.

Thank God for Janine from housekeeping. We accidentally got off on the wrong floor. It was very overwhelming for my client however this lady stepped up and assisted us by allowing us to use staff toilets and personally taking us to Dr Williams rooms. I might add she was the only person who smiled. Why she's back of house I don't know. She should be front of house. She represents customer service to the max. Take note John Flynn Hospital. Your staff represent your brand!!

Staff are fine. I have been going here for years but the hospital is starting to become worn. Mould on air con vents, carpets looking old and worn, plumbing in my shower leaked, automatic doors not working properly had to pull them apart and then they sort of worked. It is a shame as was a great hospital, perhaps the share holders are getting greedy or it is no longer profitable not sure. Some of the drs just do not have a good attitude of care. I will probably shop around next time. Oh and the reviews about the meals are correct, better getting a pack of sadwiches than muck around with the cold hot meals... The automatic reply to anyone with a questionable review seems so contrite

I cannot fault the staff at John Flynn. From administration to nurses, theatre staff, doctors, post-op staff and discharge, everything went smoothly and all were kind and caring. Narelle in pre-op bay, you are welcoming with a little banter to ease the nerves due to our up coming surgery and keeping in mind your professionalism as well. It was my first time using this hospital for a minor procedure. Will consider using again should the need arise.

Credit Card fraud. I just received a refund from my credit card company. On 30 August 23 around $4,000 worth of charges were put on my card while I was admitted for heart surgery. The card was in a concealed position within a day pack 'securely stored'. Ward 5. Take absolutely no valuables, cash or cards while admitted to the hospital.

I'm sharing my post surgery care. ICU and Surgical team were technically top notch. However, my private health fund was charged $46k for my 6 night stay after a redo open heart. One would expect to have the room facilities be reasonable, but shower is crazy cramped and dated, biomedical equipment well past a reasonable lifespan, both chairs in the room had a fault, mattress pumps didn't work, mattress incredibly uncomfortable, food absolutely appalling (first time I've ever not been able to eat a bolognaise) other than the sandwiches, parking is nuts and more engagement with council needs to occur, the fact that SNP is located at the facility and are enabled to charge outrageously compared to Pathology Queensland - Med Imaging, Pharma and Path services should all be inclusive and a failure on our society, nurses often missed the procedure during hand over. It was good to recognise some staff so retention seems rather good. The room had an amazing view, but HVAC isn't per room controlled so my room overheated during the day. Discharge was so unorganised and discombobulating, no booking were made or correct, complete failure in Warfarin management, and penny pinching post pharma bill on exit. Ramsay - cut your profits in half over two years and invest in proper end to end care, facilitate and equip your team with state of the art kit (they deserve it and the NIB bill reflects it should be happening) and management need to pull their socks up. Public sector is smashing you in nearly all aspects from personal experience, even the food.

I love the hospital and the nurses . They are wonderful and well trained. Their admission process is smooth. BUT do not let them fill your prescriptions at the pharmacy. They are a monopoly on site and charge mark ups of almost 100%. My scripts were $6.95 at my chemist and was charged $12.05. BEWARE. Just ask for your scripts and fill them wherewver you want.

The only thing appealing to this hospital is the location and view of the beach with resort like finishes. DO NOT go here for your health, you’re better off waiting 10 hours in public emergency for decent help. The emergency doctors do the bare minimum and always at the computer station more than seeing patients. Once you’re admitted the Nurses treat you with so much disrespect, they judge you on what’s wrong with you & medications when they’re not doctors, no reason to have an ego trip. (I’ve herd them gossip about people outside my door) Are they forgetting they’re suppose to help people who are seriously sick/hurt? if patient are such an inconvenience to them, it’s time to change careers because it effects the care people go there for.

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!! Unless you are mentally and physically fit and have alllllll day! Lifts broken in 2 of 3 buildings and the third looks like it's 100 years old. Waited so long to get to level 6 only to find out we were in the wrong building. This happened 3 times in EVERY building including the right one. So, 4th time lucky after having to call and be directed over the phone. Admin staff at front desks have NO IDEA where anything is are rude and not helpful. Don't even get me started on the parking. For a private hospital that wasn't built that long ago... I would like to know where their money goes. Certainly not on training staff or building maintenance

The only thing this hospital is good for is milking a gold card dry. They even sent mum home with a cannula still stuck in her elbow which went unnoticed for 3 days. Pathetic hospital where money is far more important than patients. Ohh And don’t bother sending me the standard John Flynn reply, I’m not interested in helping you run a business for free. Work it out yourselves.

Very Rude and Arrogant Doctor. Never ever experienced someone so rude in my life. His staff was not all that polite either. There was absolutely no open and effective communication from this man, with a patient's family member. There is a proper and correct way to converse with people which this man does not possess.

We had our first baby girl at John Flynn recently and couldn’t recommend the experience highly enough. All of the midwives were so lovely, knowledgeable and accommodating. We enjoyed our stay so much and received endless support. We didn’t want to leave! We would definitely recommend John Flynn to all first time parents.

The NURSES are the worst that I’ve ever dealt with. They neglect patients, get angry when we ask for help or take an hour to arrive after ringing the bell. They judge medications besides what the Doctor prescribed for you, they are not educated enough to have input. How these people are allowed to be nurses blows my Mind. Arrogant, Narcissistic, Bullies rather than being Professional & generally happy to help people to feel safe & seen. If you’re still a patient over the weekend, you are best to just get discharged. The weekend doctors are horrible, they change what your regular doctor is doing which ruins the progress of your recovery to getting better. Reading all these other comments of people having horrible experiences, I honestly don’t know why this hospital hasn’t been shut down.

Very disappointing..... left in pain for hours..staff started out ok. But then become like they didn't care. I had seriously bad abdo pain from duodenal ulcers. No treatment recieved .Didn't even see a gastroenterologist. Will never go back for anything. I was put on the oncology ward. The beds were so hard. I really feel for the cancer pts on that ward. There is one male little Asian doctor in emergency..so rude and condensendiing

Refused to admit me as my back was too complicated for them. I am a chronic pain patient with a baby and have been a patient previously. We drove from a regional area to receive this care. Spoke to the hospital coordinator who could care less. Is this what I pay my private health insurance for?? Avoid this hospital!

Have just received wonderful care/service from everyone I dealt with at the hospital. From the moment I arrived in emergency (Marion, Carolyn and Dr Vijay) to the crew on Lvl 5 (Sharpy, Daniele and the Taras); Dr Lai; the team at Southern Cross Radiation, and all the admin/wards people I interacted with, I couldn't have been happier with the care I received. In a stressful time, I felt safe and looked after. Thank you

We had such a great experience with the nurses and midwives at John Flynn. They were all very caring, professional and knowledgeable and I wouldn't still be breastfeeding if not for their excellent care/help. We cannot rate them higher and thank them dearly ❤️

The only good thing about JF was the team around my surgery and the view. The food is one step up from prison grub. The TV is from the dinosaur ages, it reminded me of the old drive-ins except less entertaining! The nurses are generally trained like robots. I’ve had 29 surgeries. 40 years ago a nurse chatted with you if you couldn’t sleep at night, now you have to beg 3 times just to get some painkillers. I asked for a cup of tea at 4pm when I was just out of recovery and was told to wait for dinner, so I’d had nothing since midnight the night before. I had one arm post-surgery that I couldn’t move, and not one time was I offered help to cut up any meals. Then the dragon came in unannounced, supposedly assessed me and refused me rehab at JF. Along with other patients I spoke with who had the same experience with dragon woman, I discharged myself to Spendelove rehab and found efficient friendly nurses, 5star food and service.

John Flynn Maternity is the best, exceeded our expectations by far! We are so grateful for the entire midwife team lead by the fabulous Gaylene. Every single one of them was kind, thoughtful and supportive, making the birth of our second daughter and her first few days so effortless. I could not recommend John Flynn Maternity highly enough! Simply the best!

UNFORTUNATELY I absolutely have huge concerns in this Hospital. From the CEO down to Senior staff, kitchen staff, and some nursing staff. I hope they honestly repair this unorganised health service. The Dr in ICU on the 6th & 7th should be addressed for a very angry and poor service and language. I am ashamed to be spoken to . Please look into my and other patients concerned daily issues. I've received your " Hide The Truth " replies and cannot believe how many people give up ! I've personally gave 2 reviews to the front office and today dropped off another one. Any paperwork must be followed though. I'm struggling with massive depression and aggressive anxiety from my experience. My GP is a legend for his duty of care. I don't get how you passed the assessment team !!!! Government assessment team . BULLDUST ! Just more kickbacks for a days polished up !!! And they must love giving Johnny more cash !!!!!! Truth is these Government grubs need a lie ditector for the Thousands of Private (( mostly empty)) Hospital Grants.. A 10 yr old child could add up your waste per week. Tried to find the CEO,all he was talking about Covid ! 2 yrs ago !!!!!! Please explain why he mislead our community with his views on Covid ?? Those Covid happy ,pre educated Guesses must have filled his pockets not ,wards of sick patients. ( with Covid) I would enjoy chatting with the CEO, the Exective Chef , An independent consultant and get some truth . Stop thinking I will give up. THIS IS ABOUT A POSITIVE OUTCOME! FOR THE HIGHEST POSSIBLE CARE FOR all PATIENTS..

John Flynn Hospital provides the ultimate in professional care on the Gold Coast. From the lovely, driven executive team through to specialists, doctors, nurses, NUMS, wardies, catering staff, cleaners, administration staff, volunteers etc, it is clear that this hospital is one tight ship with exceptional high standards. Patients are treated with respect, professionalism, dignity and empathy....and it's genuine. A few issues with catering, wrong food being delivered, catering staff not communicating with next shifts/other staff, archaic ordering & checking processes & systems etc but that will be addressed by the executive team & board hopefully by the end of this month. The jovial, positive energy from all at this hospital makes a stay here like being in a five star luxury hotel. Thank you. Angela Dell’Osa aka Rita Fellows

Can not praise the beautiful staff at John Flynn highly enough. Went in through emergency for a nasty ankle injury. Was seen to straight away, had an emergency realignment and surgery within the day. Nurses and doctors were amazing. So caring and patient and extremely competent, I felt reassured and very well looked after both in emergency and also in the ward. Dr Schliemer absolutely brilliant. I was so lucky to have been operated on by such a wonderful doctor. So grateful thank you so much
