I didn’t enjoy myself here shame worse I had high hopes for this place. The staff wasn’t friendly with me ngl I think they are more warm and welcoming towards familiar customers compared to newcomers (but certainly asked for a tip , not in a direct manner but along the lines “so much are you leaving” 🤮🤮. Plus I was confused whether to sit down or order at the counter, I went to the counter and still got ignored, the service is so slow maybe it’s cause they are busy. Pricey too. I ordered their chicken mayo and avo sandwich R80 whaaaaat one slice of bread ???? Argh I think I’ll stop here.

If anything you should just go to have your morning coffee in the giant custom made mugs. They have a good variety of breakfast and brunch options. The scones and croissants were great, very tasty, not dry and just sweet enough. The restaurant is a bit small but the quaint size is part of the charm

Came here for brunch with my boyfriend on a whim and I was pleasantly surprised. The aesthetic and cleanliness of the restaurant is 5/5. Servers are really friendly, attentive and intentional. Upon arrival, we were immediately seated and served. They offer a range of speciality coffee at really fair prices and the coffee is served in the most stunning stoneware - again, very aesthetically pleasing. The overall vibe and ambience of the place was great too. It seems perfect for breakfast/brunch. A few people were working too and it’s kid friendly. The food was good and portions (from observing other diners) seemed healthy and decent. I had banana bread and it was delicious and fresh! Definitely planning on making this my usual spot on Bree <3

Good family friendly vibe. Service was polite but a bit slow. Breakfast selection isn't exhaustive, and most major meals have pork. Delivery however was excellent, most unique presentation of avocado that I've seen. Really enjoyed it.

The Ladder is now one of my favourite restaurants to meet for a coffee and a bite! Ideal for informal business meetings or catching up with a friend. The staff is really friendly and the atmosphere is relaxing. My favourite part is drinking Chai Lates from the oversized, handcrafted cups - so fun! And their food an pastries are always fresh and delicious! Love it!

This little gem of a place was a spectacular find! Such great food, ambiance, and service. Caleb, our waiter was so friendly and took such good care of us explaining what a “red espresso” is. The iced tea made from “red espresso” amongst other things was highly recommended and so delicious and refreshing, (and pretty, might I add!), on a warm day here in Cape Town. Thanks Caleb, double thumbs up 👍👍😊

A contemporary nice cafe laid back and decor that breaths simplicity Great calendar, sallad, and coffee. The assortment of baked goods could be a bit wider The service was friendly but unorganised .

A cute road side anytime coffee shop with a varied menu easy access. There is fast wifi and friendly staff. Remember to pay parking fees to the Municipality vendor and avoid your car being clamped. I ate a cronuts for the first time. Not wow but not bad either. The brunch is well priced and includes complimentary coffee or tea or juice.

From the five weeks we spent in Cape Town, „The Ladder“ was our absolute favorite breakfast spot. Super nice and friendly people, always a nice vibe while being extremely kid-friendly at the same time. Also, „The Ladder“ did serve me the best coffee I had, and there are many places with great coffee in Cape Town and around. If you have small kids, go here, let them play in the play area, enjoy the table Mountain View through the nice plants window and enjoy great coffee and food!

I needed a place to work and had seen The Ladder been recommended all over social media, and I completely understand why so many recommended. Such a lovely atmosphere, delicious coffee and baked goods which suited my student budget very well. My only complaint is that the Wi-Fi wasn’t working all that well during my visit and I struggled to get service. I would definitely visit again!

This place is really nice and especially with little ones. The kids area is small, personal and safe with books, blocks and toys. You can have a good coffee and a treat, or a decent and healthy breakfast. The last two times we went, the service wasn’t as great as you would expect, it takes some time time to get your bill and pay for it or the timing between ordering a drink and food is too long. Overall, it’s a pretty cool.

Visited this spot for the 1st time and it was lovely. The service is great and staff is very nice from the moment we walked in. I didn’t have coffee, but my friend complimented the coffee and how generous they are as the cup was big. Unfortunately I still had a sore throat on Thursday when we visited so I ordered a hot cup of water with lemon to drink. I then ordered a croissant with halloumi I think, sausage and avo, I don’t know what’s it called exactly on the menu as I didn’t take a picture of the menu. Anyway, my breakfast tasted amazing. The ambience was great and aesthetically pleasing. I just didn’t take pictures of anything either than my meal. Next time I’ll take pictures and add them on this review. Reason for 4 stars for the service instead of 5, is something that I feel could have been avoided. My friend asked before we even ordered anything else if they serve mimosas as we woke up craving it, we explained what a mimosa is as we weren’t confident that the waiter knew what it is. He then said that they only serve alcohol at 11am we were there at 10am, this wasn’t an issue. We then asked him to check if this would be available at 11am and he said he’d have check which alcohol they serve. We said okay, but he should let us know if they don’t, he came back later and said they’ll make a plan as he doesn’t think that they serve mimosas. 10:40 I’m done eating and counting down the time to 11am as the waiter hasn’t come with bad news to say that they don’t serve mimosas. At this point we we’re just waiting chatting and waiting for 11am, at 10:59 we ask our waiter as it’ll be ready at 11. He then says, uhm he has to check what alcohol they serve (only now? at 11:59) he comes back and says they only serve beer and wine. We asked for the bill, I still tipped as he as great, just not pleased with the drink situation. He had us waste at least 15 minutes of our time waiting for a drink that will never come, we could have left after we were down eating if he told us from the get go that they only sever beer & wine. I think there’s a room for improvement in terms of the knowledge of alcoholic drinks served.
