Sandur town in the Bellary district was infamous for illegal mining in the last decade. It is surrounded by valleys and looking like the Western Ghats during the Monsoon season. The valleys in Sandur are rich in bio-diversity with many rare species of birds, wild animals and different types flowers. There is saying/caption “See Sandur is September” - especially during rainy season. It is so fantastic to watch the serene beauty! The roads are little narrow - drive slowly and safely. Quite a few bends as well!

Place is called Kashmir of South India. September is the best time to visit this place . There is also a View point where in its Written "See Sandur in September" . Locally known as "See Sandur/Sea Sandur" also . It is believed that MK Gandhi visited this place before independence , which was in September and was amazed by the beauty of nature and mentioned that One has to visit Sandur in September .

Great temple, unique architecture and very old. But the adjacent mining areas make it a dusty ride, roads in itself are good but Mining trucks bring lots of dust. But once you see the temple, all that ride is more than worth. Temple is clean.

Visited after 20 years, great experience, met old friends and visited Kumar Swamy temple. The place has changed drastically. Lot of new developments.

Sandur, a very good place. Pleasant atmosphere, resembles Tirumala in Andhra Pradesh(atmosphere).The temperature is by and large very cool coupled with green plants. A good living place.
