This was a basic yet perfect hotel. This is definitely a boutique HOTEL. On the website and in some other places online I have seen it listed as a HOSTEL. It is most definitely a hotel. Our room was very bright with 2 balconies letting in lots of natural light. The room was small but so nice and airy and bright. The bed was very comfy and the shower was big and pleasant. The location of this boutique hotel really sets it apart from other similar hotels that are priced at the same as The Moods. It is so central and all the main locations of Barcelona are walkable from here. The staff are very friendly and work 24/7 to make your stay a happy one. Plus free water was such a nice touch, especially with all the walking we did. Although being next to a busy road, I did not find the traffic loud and late at night the road was quiet. 10/10 would stay here again.

I was a solo female traveler in Barcelona, celebrating my graduation from graduate school, and I felt very safe in this area. Absolutely fantastic location for sightseeing, the only time I had to use public transit was to get to La Sagrada Familia. Truly cannot overstate how good the location is. Everything else was within 15 min walking distance. I liked the boutique aspect of the hotel, it felt like going to your apartment rather than a hotel in the best possible way! No idea why it's called a hostel because it didn't feel like one at ALL. It’s right next door to Gloria’s with the big gates, not the easiest to find but once you know what to look for it’s easy! Rooms were minimalistic but updated and modern. The view and balcony are to die for! Loved sitting and watching the world go by on the balcony with my free cup of coffee. I noticed that, at least in my room, I could even see the street life from my bed when the doors were open, which was cool. As long as the doors are completely shut, I had no issues with the noise outside, and I’m a pretty light sleeper. Will say, a mini fridge or free breakfast would’ve been nice as they do not have those, but not that serious to not have. I'm from the USA and was on a Spain trip, and had a VERY difficult flight journey with layovers/running in airports, and I vividly remember finally showing up to this hotel and being greeted with friendly and patient workers. Overall, highly recommend!

In the same street around the hostel every day there were hard manifestations. People threw the paving stones and burnt the rubbish bins like during the war. We chose The Moods for the location and price, which did not disappoint. This felt more like a boutique hotel than a hostel, and had 24-7 staff who all spoke English, helped us with directions, train schedule, water for the coffee maker. Bed was an American king size. One major challenge was that the air conditioner seemed to stop working overnight. Every night. But in the late morning it would start up again. We were only looking for a place for one night, due to flight fiascoes, and there were countless options nearby, but we wanted somewhere with a balcony, so chose this one, thinking it would be a decent place overall (there were many cheaper options, even with balconies. We could not even use our balcony as there was a backpacker sort that was quite loud sitting immediately adjacent to us, but that is not the fault of the hotel). There is actual carpet in the bathroom which is massively disgusting since they can never actually be cleaned (ie pee etc obviously is splashed by males using the toilet which can never be cleaned up and lives eternally in the carpet). Also, there were hairs on the walls. Finally, getting a later check out by 30 minute was denied a number of times by multiple people until finally the nice girl on the day of checkout finally allowed it. The rooms are small even for the location (visiting Barcelona every year), so cleaning would not take long. The elevator seemed to be dysfunctional from people leaving the door open on other floors, so you are required to use the stairs unless you want to wait a very long time (3 flights up which is a hassle with a lot of luggage). There is no desk or table in the room, either, just the bed and a small little bench to put a few items on. For the price, you can stay at a four-star hotel nearby and have a much better experience.
