Food was good, service was good. We were there during loadshedding and it was very very hot. No windows can open and obviously no fans / aircon available during loadshedding.

The food is delicious, service is great. They could have the best burgers in town only if the buns could be fresh.

On our way from Knysna to Colesburg we stopped at Graaff Reinet at the Desert Springs Spur Steak Ranch. The restaurant was clean and the service was very friendly and efficient and the food was great. I had a cheddarmelt burger which was nice and saucy and tasted great, my wife had a full portion of Buffalo wings and she said it was very tasty. Overall our experience at Desert Springs Spur Steak Ranch was very pleasant. Well worth the stop. Thanks for the great food and service.

We had dinner at the Desert Springs Spur on 21 Oct and were dissappointed with the food that was served cold. We sent the food back to be warmed. Vegetables were warm in a warmed separate dish but the meat was again served on a cold plate. The spinach was not the same as portrayed in the menu picture and It was full of lumps, not very tasty! The waiter mentioned that it was made with Maizena, which I would not recommend. An unpleasant experience.

The service was excellent , I loved the food more than anything . The place is refreshing . A nice place to visit for long weekends . I highly recommend.

We come from Stellenbosch WC, and visited the Spur in Graaff Reinet. Had to wait half and hour for our starters to arrive, and the menus were taken away, without even asking whether we were going to order a main course too. During the entire time we were there, nobody approached us to ask whether we were okay or needed something else. After about 20 min, my husband and I decided to get up and go pay our bill. Oh my word, nobody was at the reception to take our payment. Eventually after standing there like fools, the supposedly manager came to help us, and by that time, my husband was quite fed-up and upset. He complained to the manager, but she said they were busy and had to attend to a group of people who had their year end function there. So my question is now....why dont you close the establishment for other patrons? Or if you know that you will have to serve a large group of people, get more waiters in for the night. Instead, the other patrons who were not part of the group, were treated like they were not suppose to be there. i am very disappointed in this Spur. Really!

Efficient friendly service, and the food and plate were hot which was made a nice change from cold food served elsewhere.

Only there for a quick stop and go. Staff were friendly. Service was good. Patrons also gave the atmosphere a calm and welcoming feeling

Onion rings and chips were prepared in either old oil or prep time was not checked. Toilets are dirty. Not a nice stop as a rest stop on the long road.

Great place for anything from a drink to a full meal. Super service, tasty food. Bit cheap and cheerful. Sometimes too much kid noise earlier in the evening. Great happy birthday routine by the staff. Great burgers and fries.

A decent meal. You can't really go wrong with spur. There were a coupe of small details from a staff perspective that needed more attention, but overall the staff were polite and friendly and the food arrived on time. Is it just me or did spur change the recipe on the dressing sauce?

Our waitress was friendly but... On arrival she informed us that they didn't have any wine glasses available and that our drinks would be served in cocktail glasses, the reason, they had a wine tasting the previous month, many glasses broken and waiting for new stock. Really... We waited for more than an hour for our food. They had to cook the baked potato and that was the reason we had to wait so long. My freshly cooked baked potato and sirloin steak was served cold. My husband ordered a New York steak that was tough with a thick strip of fat. This was a terrible Spur experience. I will not recommend Spur. I think I need to get in touch with Head Office.

Waiter was friendly at the beginning. We waited 50min for our order. She did not bring us any knives or forks. She brought some of the food which was cold then we had to ask for the knives and forks. The serviette around it was wet. The crumb mushroom was cold we had to sent it back. The Chicken was bloody red on inside. Our waiter did not check in with us once. Really bad service would not recommend this SpuR

I took my 80 year old mom to Spur in Graaf Reinette. I ordered drinks, mine was incorrect and they came to say they had no diet cooldrink only coke zero from tap. We ordered food. I POINTED TO THE MENU ITEM. Wings and riblets. This is for my mom. The food came we started eating, I called the waiter and said the food looks like a big portion she needs to make sure it is the one I asked for the wings and riblets. We kept eating she then came back and said no it is wings and ribs. I said but it is not what I ordered. She said then she has to take it back. Now after a 10hour drive and my 80year old mom already eating she wants to take the food and then she must wait while we all keep eating?? I SAID BUT THIS IS NOT HER MISTAKE IT IS YOURS, SHE STARTED EATING ALREADY. She left. When the bill comes the charge wings and ribs, not wings and riblets. I explained it was their mistake the manager (who said her name was Monessa )comes and says you will pay what you ate. She did not listen to me she just heard the waiter side and came to say I will pay the order cause my mom ate it. Even if the order was incorrect which by the way you would not know because there are no image on the menu for wings and riblets, then tough you pay the incorrect order? My 80 year old mom was embarrassed and what was to be a good supper left a bad taste. I worked at Spur when I was young, we never treated people so cold and hard, when the mistake was ours we apologised and fixed the bill. Especially for children and senior citizens, WHAT HAPPENED TO THE SPUR TO HAVE MANAGERS BE SO AROGANT AND COLD TO PEOPLE LIKE MY MOM. My husband was right when he made a comment that it is no wonder they are so quiet. It is appalling and I think Monessa needs serous training in customer service and should not work with fragile people at all.

I am truly a supporter of the Spur franchise and generally love the food. This experience was appalling. The bathrooms were disgusting, with dirty toilets and toilet paper and empty rolls strewn across the floor. I had to ask for our waitress twice to place our orders our mains. After the mains arrived, before we started eating, we noticed a cockroach crawling on the table. I called the closest waitress and told her. She then took her time calling our waitress, while the roach continued its crawling. I asked our waitress for the manager. The manager wanted to use a serviette to grab it. There was no apology or look of concern. At this point, I said I could not eat here. My family and I left, with the roach still on our table. This I extremely disappointing, I have been to many Spur restaurants across the country and never seen this.

We visited on New Year's eve around 6pm. (The restaurant stayed open until 10pm) It is a typical Spur, so we knew what to expect. The food was amazing - fresh & well prepared. The service was outstanding! Drinks & food came quickly. Play area is very limited, with not much to keep kids entertained. They ended up rather sitting with us at the table. Overall a very pleasant experience.

This is certainly a treasure in the Karoo town of Graaf Reinet. Stopped over from Cape Town. Great staff especially the waitron & well layed restuarant! The food was so delicious (see photo)! So thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. One of the better Spurs around..

Service was good, food was excellent, had a play area for kids and changing station for babies. Bathrooms is clean and the best thing about Spur - Breastfeeding friendly!

Spur food always classically liked. Play area needs attention though as it has a football game but no ball and only one toilet in men's room which is a bit of a turndown.

What happened to vegan options and decent almond milk coffee? No cheese grillers either for rest of the family 😐 Unfortunately Not a great tourist experience visiting this Spur .

The food is very good but the service very slow. Only 4 table's occupied and we had to wait long for drinks and food.

Terrible service🤦🏾‍♂️ took 10 minutes to get us seated and we weren't given menus for like 20 minutes we were just sitting waiting to be helped. The waitress kept walking past and ignoring us till we got up and left without being helped.

All good. Service above and beyond. Manager even found us a place to overnight! It would also help if customers closed the door after them. 30C plus today. Busy waiters struggle to close door while serving.
