Amazing, tranquil and a must! Beautiful, clean and picture perfect. Staff is super friendly and helpful. It's located in the middle of city, making it easy to walk around. Their restaurant staff made me feel very special in my birthday. I have to go back again.

Wonderful heritage hotel in an interesting historic town. The hotel is beautifully preserved, the food was excellent especially the lamb chops. We were disappointed at the check in that a whole section of the hotel with beautiful old bar, lounge, library and other reception rooms were not revealed to us. We only found them on departure morning when looking around to admire the art. The Spa is advertised a lot but nothing else. We would have loved to read in the lounge and have a pre dinner drink. The wifi is very poor, we could barely use it. Overall however we had a great stay, enjoyed the food and the very comfortable and stylish room.

Excellent service and friendly staff. Tasteful decor and very clean. The hotel is in immaculate condition. Our suite was comfortable and had everything we would expect. The bed was very comfortable. The dinner menu has good variety and food is beautifully presented and tasty. A very good wine menu too. The attention to detail from the lovely restaurant servers to the evening turndown made our stay a pleasure.

Not bad but I won't go back there again... The carrots from my dinner were out of a frozen bag (one would think that a 4 star hotel would use fresh vegetables but not these guys), really horrible and the ox tail was so tough i couldn't even eat it, the mashed potatoes also tasted like they just added boiling water to some powder out of a packet. Epic failure by the chef (well don't think we can call him/her a chef) . Ox tail needs to be cooked for a long time. Get some proper training somewhere or hire a real chef. The spinach with the eggs Benedict was also frozen. Don't know what management thinks but people notice stuff like that. Definitely NOT a 4 star restaurant, it was edible but i really didn't like it. The staff is very friendly and helpful , the atmosphere was great ......but the kitchen ruined my stay and thus only a 2 star rating from me.

Beautiful and very well maintained. 2 G&Ts and a Chicken Ceasar, relaxing under the outside umbrellas. The food was well presented, tasty, and the portion size was quite large. The service was also excellent. I wouldn't have expected anything less.

Enjoyed a really great buffet breakfast, even though I got there just before 11 am they still served me breakfast. The staff were very professional, they were genuine in their greeted and service. Definitely would stop here for breakfast even though I wasn't staying in the hotel.

My recent visit to Drosdy Hotel's restaurant in Graaf Reinet was nothing short of a culinary disaster. From the moment I stepped through the door, it was evident that this establishment fell far short of my expectations. Unfortunately, both the food and the service were abysmal, leaving me with an overwhelmingly negative impression. Let's start with the service, or lack thereof. As I settled down at a table, I couldn't help but notice the indifferent demeanor of the waitstaff. They seemed disinterested and unmotivated, which set the tone for the entire evening. To add insult to injury, my assigned waitress, who I hoped would bring some semblance of attentiveness, had the audacity to chew gum right in my ear as I awaited my order. Not only was it unprofessional, but it was also highly unpleasant and distracting. Now, onto the main issue: the food. I had heard some positive reviews about this restaurant, but my experience was far from satisfactory. The menu offered a variety of dishes that sounded appealing, but unfortunately, their execution left much to be desired. I decided to try the oxtail, expecting a rich and flavorful dish. However, what arrived at my table was a disappointing letdown. The oxtail lacked any discernible flavor, leaving me wondering if any effort had been put into seasoning and slow-cooking the meat. It was a bland and uninspiring dish that failed to meet even the most basic culinary expectations. To make matters worse, the presentation of the dishes was lackluster. The plates looked hastily thrown together, lacking any visual appeal. It was evident that little effort had been put into ensuring an aesthetically pleasing dining experience. When paying a visit to a restaurant, one expects not only delectable food but also an enjoyable ambiance, which was sorely lacking here. Throughout the evening, I found myself longing for some sort of acknowledgement from the staff regarding the disappointing meal and the lackluster service. Regrettably, no effort was made to rectify the situation or offer an apology for the subpar experience. It was clear that customer satisfaction was not a priority for the restaurant's management or staff. In conclusion, my visit to Drosdy Hotel's restaurant in Graaf Reinet was an unequivocal disappointment. From the gum-chewing waitress to the lack of flavor in the oxtail, the entire experience was riddled with dissatisfaction. I would strongly advise potential diners to explore other dining options in the area, as this establishment falls far short of providing a satisfactory culinary experience.

The service at this hotel is beyond words. Staff so friendly and helpful. The room was spacious with our own little courtyard. Thank you Drostdy Hotel.

Luxurious stay-cation, outstanding service, food was good, coffee divine, quaint atmosphere, and beautiful weather during breakfast. Totally unexpected from Graff Reient main street vibe- it's a whole new "world" within the compound, exceptional maintenance, and well decorated landscape.

It's a great experience to be at the hotel, so if you are looking for accommodation then Drostdy hotel is the place to go to.

We were in town for only one night and needed dinner. Walked in off the back alley into paradise. Manicured gardens greeted us in stark contrast to the unassuming location. Quickly seated and drinks orders taken. While we waited.... Too long because the bar is at the opposite end of the hotel apparently.. We perused the varied menu and settled on wagyu beef burger for the missus and a lamb pie with sweet butternut for me. Really good and came out the kitchen in record time. Beautifully presented and quite reasonable for 5 star service.

What a fantastic gem in Graaf Reinet. From the moment you drive in, you know that this will be an experience, not just a stay. The staff are friendly and VERY efficient. Leroy assisted me to my room, and not a single thing was too much effort for him. The room - Oh my goodness! What a gorgeous layout, setup, and quality. The bed is huge, with luxurious linen and the best pillows ever! Came back to my room after dinner to find my room had even been turned down with some lovely biscuits waiting for me. Check-in and check-out were simple and efficient.

We had our wedding hosted by the Hotel and we couldn't have asked for a better venue. It was a pleasure working with the management and the rest of the staff. The rooms were outstanding and the service even better. It feels like you are transported to another planet when entering the Hotel. It is a must stay when passing through Graaff-Reinet.

Always an absolute treat to stay here! So clean, neat, beautifully designed. Food is great! The gardens are stunning and well manicured. So many rooms and ventures to sit and enough a drink or meal or even read a book or work. Will ALWAYS be back!

Wonderful hotel - restful, tranquil, well laid out ... steeped in history. The staff were amazing, friendly and engaging... on their game and fun! The GM introduced himself and made us feel most welcome. Ideally situated to explore the town. Our rooms were large. Food excellent - lots of local lamb to choose from...

The Drosdty Hotel was our stop en route from Cape Town to Johannesburg. We chose it for the location and pool facilities for our two toddlers to enjoy. The rooms are clean and have old world charm in terms of decor and furnishings. We had an executive suite that had a bedroom, large bathroom and a lovely sun room. The service is friendly but VERY SLOW. On the day of our departure we called to order breakfast at 06:15 for 06:30 to avoid the breakfast crowds. At 6:40 the breakfast had not arrived to our room. at 06:50 when we reached the restaurant, our order had not even been put through. WE LEFT without the breakfast that was included in our rate. Pool areas aren't cleaned/ serviced overnight. On our walk from our room to the restaurant my toddler asked why all the bottles and litter was left next to the pool. If it was a self catering stop I would find it lovely but as a hotel there's lots that needs to be done from a service perspective.

Beautiful hotel. Great breakfast. For the rest, average service and the dinner and service at the restaurant was average/lacking. Pity. Such a beautiful place. Good for one night as a pass through, but I would think twice before making it a holiday stop.

This is one of the better experiences I have had. We shared a standard room, the bathroom was huge. Housekeeping staff was en pointe...kept the room neat and tidy, always polite and friendly. Every evening two bottles of water were delivered together with a biscuit. Old world charm ...loved every moment

From the delightful staff who cannot do enough for you to the gorgeous room and stunning linen and delicious meals. We could not fault a thing. We have been visiting every year for a very long time and only missed 2020 during lockdown. It's our most favourite Karoo holiday. Three nights. Wish it could have been longer.

Totally breathtaking, everything here is amazing, the staff is so friendly, your luggage is taken and escorted to your room, door opened, luggage gets dropped inside, shown a few things if it's your first time at the hotel. It's like a small quaint village with different villas and each part with its own swimming pool.

Wonderful hotel in the middle of nowhere. Such a surprise to have found this gem. Lots of attention to detail in the rooms and dining area. Wonderful wines to enjoy and to buy from the wine shop. Lovely spa and gym. Beautiful swimming pools for cooling down in summer time. Heated rooms and bathrooms for cold winters. Will go again for the food and atmosphere!

The staff is unbelievably kind helpful and goes 9ut their way to make your stay at the Drostdy an amazing experience! The rooms and service is outstanding! Unfortunately in the food department they lack terribly! During my stay of 4 days, taking all my meals at the hotel I had to send my food back 3 times, as the chef forgot to serve the plate of food as described on the menu: Salmon Eggs Benedict arrived without Salmon, the Pirk Belly with seasonal vegetables, arrived without vegetables. If the hotel can improve on the food, the will honour the stars they claim! Hope they can get it right as it is a beautiful hotel to stay at!

This hotel offers luxurious accommodation and exceptional service to guests. From check-in to check-out the staff went out of their way to assist with requests and to make my stay as relaxing as possible. The hotel has an art gallery and great wine cellar/shop to spend some time in whilst here. The restaurant serves top-class food and wine. I have only one minor complaint - the phone in the room has a very bright screen which I was unable to dim or switch off. This was a bit too bright at night while trying to sleep.

I booked a week in advance and specifically requested for a table closer to the fireplace (for health reasons). On arrival there were no reservations made and got placed right by the door,I asked the waitress to assist, she said she would speak to the manger, and never got back to me(but kept passing me,while serving other tables)RUDE! Ordered pork belly ,could not even finish it,it was burnt. Horrible experience, one does not expect such in 5 star restaurants.

This special place has stolen my heart! We were so spoilt for our wedding anniversay & made to feel very welcome. Special mention to Lodewyk for his very special anniversary wishes & the butler on our evening dinner. But really, all staff are excellent. Accommodation is lovely & luxurious, lacks nothing. Highly recommend, thank you!

Some issues with a constantly running toilet. Broken glass in picture frames. Food marks on the futon. Telephone was not working and was replaced. I have long look forward to staying here and was a bit disappointed in the above. I can Highly recommend the Drosdy, their Staff is exceptionally exceptionally well traind. We stayed in room 1301.

I have to post this, as attention to detail makes the Drostdy of one of the most stunning places to stay. I checked in yesterday and reserved dinner for the evening, and then cancelled the table, as I ended up eating in the pub, and watching the rugby. I paid for the meal, and didn't charge it to the room. I had a Jamesons when I arrived. This morning when I opened the bar fridge, the J&B had been replaced with Jamesons. The attention to detail is absolutely amazing.
