Rat & Parrot in Makhanda, formerly known as Grahamstown. I went there for a bite after a long day on the road, the air and a 4hr meeting. I like their menu but I was expecting more fish dishes because it is pretty close to the ocean. Bite me. The few fish dishes they have are more expensive than in Pretoria. I ordered Chili corn carne with chips, cheese and avocado. It came without nachos or beans. The dish is rather on the lemon and herb side than the chili side. Oh, it came with two thin slivers of avocado. Do not treat too much into it. The dish sas good and my coke zero came in a chilled glass. The waitress was so professional. I will be back.

Good vibes✨. Absolutely love it. I’m there right and I’m about to order another drink. Come check it out. A bit pricey but if there for vibes then it’s exactly what you were looking for.

Imagine being paid to hang around & chat with your friends? The service was shaky & the toppings of the pizza slide off the base. We were told it would take 20 mins. It took 40 mins if not longer.

Went to eat at this restaurant seeing that I was in the area. The food arrived so fast and the drinks. The waitress was so attentive and the food and drinks were great. The prices were relatively good. The venue is like a bar type of set up which was nice for relaxing especially after a very long day

This is a late review but I can't stop raving about the Pizzas at this place. I mean I know about someone of the the well known franchise pizzas joints but this one is just distinct. It's rich, pipping hot♨️ and the cheese is stretchy🧀🍕 and overall tasty . The vibe is amazing too - an area for each one may prefer. The only problem I had on my last encounter was - the person serving us mixed up the sizing. She brought a small when I asked for medium. But that's not why I gave the service a 2 star. When it was my first time going to the place, we had pizza and the order was pretty large. The person serving us at the time didn't add a service fee on the slip. It was very great to tip from the heart. Now with the second (final visit), the person serving us added a service fee. Then when I asked if I have to add a tip again, she kept quiet and didn't answer. Which felt a bit unfair because I need to tip from my heart and there's and additional on fee that wasn't there the first time I came. On top of that, just when I thought our orders were in, she came back and told us she's here to get out orders again because she left after we told her what we'd like to have. I was disappointed. I guess it wasn't her day and every one makes mistskes🙏🏽. But the pizzas are great. I also had Sprite from those old school glass bottles. It felt so cool 😊🍶. Not all hope is lost, I'll come back again for the burgers 🍔😊

Good place to get a delicious meal, have a drink and catch a soccer game. Nice, relaxed atmosphere.

Had some tasty pizza, perhaps not as good as I remember it to be but still relatively good. Service was ok

Food is great. I would however recommend that they add a 'build your own pizza' option to the menu for those that don't find exactly what they want in the menu

I have had their Thai Chilli Chicken pizza a couple of times and it is very juicy and tasty and will highly recommend it.

Very nice place for watching real time live matches such as world cups, Rugby champions and grab a beer and relax. Its also a chilled place to go and dine in, they have their famous potato and pizza selection and my all time fave at rats is the Jam jars❤️ oh best beverage. You can also book a private space for your functions business meetings and get to gathers. They also have karaoke night I think its on Wednesday or Tuesday but its one hell of a night ❤️❤️. Very nice staff, love them to bits.

Good staple for predictable food and pub grub.

Personally, I will never visit this place again. Two times in a week. The first time we were served half cooked beef it up and it was a bad in quality. You can literally smell the raw flavor of oil which might be off. Now, the second day, we waited for 50 minutes just to see if we are attended at all or not. We planned to order pizza but a different one. No one came to us to attend. One person came and turned on the light, and that was the end of the order. That was some kind of disrespectful behavior from the group. Dear authority, if you really want to take care of this businesses, please look into this issue. I am done with Rat & Parrot. And, please try to serve which is only ordered. We were served different things and we paid for it. This is a trivial thing to complain, but at least try to attend your customers. Great steak and veggies, liquor on point... waitresses are AMAZING.

The vibe is awesome, mostly dominated by varsity pupil, understandably so this is Makhanda. However tables are not cleaned before are guests seats. Getting your own drinks from the bar is the option otherwise you'll wait forever

It caters in both sense, but it is mostly a bar. Their food is actually quite good for a a small town.

Had a great time, it has a nice vibe especially the top floor, it has a nice view of New Street. The food is nice and is done quickly. We didn't wait long for anything.

It’s a decent place to get a beer and watch the traffic go by, and an even better one to catch up with friends.

Great atmosphere, great service. Would like a bit more variety to menu, for eg. Build your own pizza from the basic.
