The couches were comfy, the normally busy space was quiet, 7.45 am coffee was great! Normally the space is buzzing with undergraduates and lecturers from all over, especially the drama school and business school which are housed in this building. We arrived while the staff were still setting up for the day, and the espresso machine was still warming up. They welcomed us, and took our orders with a friendly smile. After serving us, we were left alone to have our conversation.

As a student, I've been fairly regular at the Theatre Cafe. It's a good spot in the Drama department to just chill and grab a quick bite in between class. Not to mention the Ma's who run the food service are among the nicest I've encountered. There's nothing quite like being greeted with a "hello baba" on a hard day and being handed some good food among your friendly colleagues in an eclectic setting. The food is good, your typical healthy version of student food with a good selection of toasted sandwiches, wraps and breakfast. The shakes and coffee are pretty good too. R100 would set you up nicely with a good meal, if you're frugal, it's enough for you and a friend.

Best place to just grab a slice of cake, right on campus. Easy place to get to and you're bound to run into people so it's nice. However, we've stood in front of a closed door from time to time, which we didn't fully understand, leaving us to find somewhere else to find something to end the food cravings.

Theatre Cafe is a wonderful space to relax and have lunch at Universtiy. The staff is friendly and effective and there's always a variety of freshly made food on the menu, including amazing vegan and vegetarian dishes, yummy home made muffins and brownies and freshly brewed coffee. The space offers a variety of tables inside and outside and the sofas are just perfect for chat or work meetings.
