The museum is tops. Our family and guest ' children love to visit this museum . Staff unfortunately went on leave and took the keys of the room where light switches are with them on leave . We travelled far to get there and it was dark and not accessible.

I would definitely go back. Didn't have enough time go through it all and gather all information. Really need time to go through the museum. But loved it

So disappointed how this once wonderful archive of Settler history has been neglected and is now hardly worth visiting. Rest rooms are out of order and the exhibits are uninspiring to say the least.

Learned some new things today. sadly, too many exhibits didn’t have lighting it seemed it was just blown light bulbs. Had to read the info on the exhibits with my cel phone torch. Toilet light also not working . Some of the exhibits info and labels also missing. Couple of birds in that section had fallen over. Desperately needs some TLC.

They had a genuine mummy! I was fascinated by how small she was. The Natural Science museum was also fascinating, really highlighting the unique aspects of our area.

Very interesting and educational local history section. There is a small entry fee. Half of the main floor is dedicated to the 1820 settlers from Britain and how they lived their lives and their culture in the decades after their arrival and settlement in the Albany district. The other half of the main floor is about the local history and culture of the indigenous peoples of the Eastern Cape. The curator and geneologist are also very helpful to researchers who have special interests and may want to consult the archival collection, by appointment.

It has many different types of animals, birds and extinct animals species. The problem is that there is no Wi-Fi and labels are limited.

We were literally ushered out the doors after we walked in at 15:50 on a week day, to quickly walk through the building, knowing that it would close at 16:30. Got the impression the staff did not want to work. Did not feel welcome at all. Very dissappointed and sad for a town that could benefit from good tourism (and have all the means to do so but a poor attitude).

👍👍 Even the fries here slap hard. Make sure to try the white hot chocolate. A good place to sit, chat and eat with privacy and light contemplation. Would recommend it.
