137 High Street Guest House is located in the heart of Makhanda. Although the guest house Check-in is until 5pm, l was able to check in quite late. The lady who checked me in was very kind and although it was late at night she showed me around the house and then to my room. The room itself was large and clean. The bed was quite large and the sheets and linen were fresh and clean. The room has rechargeable lamp for use during loadshedding. There was super fast internet available for free. Although there was lots of loadshedding, the kitchen staff was able to provide a very decent breakfest service. The room service were super kind and the room always smelled fresh. I liked whatever airfreshner they used. The Guest House is located walking distance to many good restaurants and also places of interest in this small town.

I loved everything about my room, the area is beautiful and quite. The service was okay.

If I could give this place a 6/5, I would. They were incredibly welcoming, and understanding, and let me check in a little earlier. The staff are super friendly, and helpful. Food is fantastic. Rooms are beautiful, and clean. Safe, off-the-street parking.

I really love Brown's Guesthouse. They've got nice, big, warm comfy beds in a quiet setting. And the food is delicious too. I didn't like the fact that the WiFi is a bit weak in the rooms though, but other than that, it's real value for money. I'll keep coming back.

Very central, great food, although a bit noisy. There's only a thin door between the room and the restaurant, so the noise of the restaurant, open from 9 until late night was a bit of a bother. Management seemed a bit chaotic, but then it was peak season.

The very first time I was in Grahamstown I spent the night at Browns. A small guesthouse which makes for a comfortable stay. Located in an old building near Rhodes University but with a modernised interior - well everything in this town is old - but Browns makes good use of the space. Most Grahamstownians enjoy the food here but not for me, hence 4/5 rating. Good service, very friendly and homely vibes.

It is was good to be here. I'm grateful I choose this place to stay while in Grahamstown. I do recommend the place. The rooms are very spacious and clean. You can even find booklets to help you know more about the place and the town.

Beautiful olde world setting. Immaculately presented room with all the amenities I could have wished for. Food was scrumtious and well presented. Rates were reasonable for an out of season stay. Hosts could not have been more accommodating and hospitable.

Currently new and open for about 5 months. On a getaway for the weekend and looking for a place to eat in Grahamstown, found Browns, WOW!!! Amazing hospitality, and the owner a Greek descendant, I had to run with it, and amazing. Will definitely be back to visit again.
