End of every month we visit the wild flower reserve on our way back to Jeffreys Bay from Port Elizabeth. It is so relaxing and a wonderful opportunity to see the flowers that have opened since our last visit. Thank you for such a wonderful place to visit.

Soooo beautiful. My kids and I did the River Walk and it's definitely not for the very unfit. We managed it though and it was totally worth the tough bits. Amazing scenery and lovely fynbos viewing. Definitely pack water and snacks to enjoy along the way. The best thing about this, is that it's all free of charge! Next time we'll try one of the other trails and take a picnic basket for afterwards.

Van Stadens Wild Flower Reserve. The wonderland floral reserve. We arrive at 11.30 the sun very strong so we drive along the way and stop to take the photos. If we have a plenty of time we gonna walk along the forest walk the sign give the information about 4.5 km. And the other way by the river walk 4 km. Should be

My favourite hike in Port Elizabeth area. Most beautiful view and so many beautiful flowers. A must do is the bird hide on the Forest walk.

Wonderful to be able to see such a great diversity of proteas growing naturally in one area. Drive or do the 4km wal Dow to the river or just enjoy the 4km flower trail in the burg. Exquisite.

Visiting this picturesque location with my colleagues for a project. Such a quiet, beautiful morning in nature. There was, however, a bit of rubble laying around in one specific spot near the water as though people had been there in the week making a fire. Otherwise, it looks generally well kept and perfect for walks and hikes. It is an easy place to locate, following the road signs and there is an open area for parking (park at own risk).

On our first visit here, we did the River walk and found it a bit difficult compared to other walks we've done. I would say it's more towards the advanced side than intermediate. The river walk never actually get you close enough to the river. I counted about 7 different species of bird, many tiny insects and a few chameleons. At the end of the river walk, very tired, we came to a crossroads uncertain which way to go. There was no sign but we managed to pick up a set of footprints on the road opposite to where the trail enters the road. Despite the challenges, we did enjoy the experience and we will definitely return and try one of the other paths.

What a great place to spend the morning! The wildflower reserve is a delight. I visited the reserve mid-September and the flowers were not yet in bloom, but the walk was still pleasant. There are 2 main walks to choose from, each about 4km long: the river walk and the forest walk. I opted for the forest walk. Stunning!

This is a beautiful and welcoming hiking destination for all hikers. The 4.5km Forest Walk was a breeze with beautiful sightings of various plant species including the Protea.

This gem of a municipal reserve nestles on the lip of the Van Stadens Gorge and on both sides of the old Van Stadens Pass. Arrive at reception area and grab a map before hiking or riding out into one of the oldest reserves in the country, a floral wonderland encompassing forest, wetlands, arid and fynbos machia and, if in luck, two denizens of these reserve...Rudi and Eli Goossens. You will also observe lots of birdlife, lizards and the occasional snake. End it off with a picnic braai and you'll have to agree that it was well worth the visit.

I was so surprised by the beauty of this nature Reserve. The Proteas only started to bloom. I wish I could be there now one month later to experience the Proteas in full bloom. Pack you picknick basket and put on you walking shoes, this is definitely a must see July 15 2019.

My husband and I loved this place. Everything about it from the location under the mountains to the beautiful wild blooms. Just after the entrance they have a beautiful display of the flowers found here along with their names, etc which also looks gorgeous. I will certainly advise that one parks their car and walks through the reserve and maybe bring along a picnic basket because there are secluded picnic spots within the fields. We entered on a Sunday and there did not seem to be anyone there except for some young boys who just seemed to be doing what most young boys do, kicking stones, etc so the question of security did cross my mind but we did not have any issues at all and did not pay. Loved this place and a must do if you are in the area or even looking for a venue in the area if they offer such!

Wow, the work Goodman and the volunteers do to keep this EASTERN CAPE gem going is quite amazing. They get no assistance from the metro and rely almost entirely on the work done by Ellie and Rudi Goosen and co.

It's a beautiful bridge showcasing great workmanship, however it's famous of plenty number of people jumped to their death, as such government has built strong fence to prevent people from committing suicide. CCV cameras are installed to monitor, and no car is allowed to stop nor people walk.

  • 5/5 Jacqui B. 4 years ago on Google
Love the Reserve but parking, and even driving, is a nightmare on annual plant sale morning. Needs to be properly planned and monitored and no allow people to park where they like. Single lane Does Not Work if traffic must flow both ways

  • 4/5 Janine U. 4 years ago on Google
The hike was fabulous. A bit of an effort but absolutely incredible to see the views and enjoy the fynbos
