Immense. I have no idea why the place I’d named Generalife. Sounds like a crackpot pill being sold my a Trump pilot fish on Fox News in America. I think it refers to the grounds of Alhambra. I enjoyed the grounds more than the castles and museums. I spend summers riding through Europe on motorcycles and I’ve overdosed on castles and museums. I love the traveling and the natural beauty. The grounds are pretty nice. Formal. It would be nicer if they would identify the more spectacular plantings. In Spanish, English, and the proper botanical Latin. When I see places like this I become uncomfortably and acutely aware that all great empires were built on slave labor. It all winds up in and as museums.

Beautiful place, reminding you of the importance water and gardens had in classic Arabic culture.

The Palacio De Generalife ( in Arabic جَنَّة الْعَرِيف‎,  Jannat al-‘Arīf) was a summer palace and country estate of the Nasrid rulers of the Emirate of Granada in Al Andaluz. It is located directly east of and uphill from the Alhambra palace complex in Granada Spain. Amazing garden full of flowers with an amazing water system and view and beautiful mosaic pebbles.A must visit place.

Generalife is a very beautifully designed and well maintained garden. You can see the ingenuity of the gardeners from the combination of various tall trees, bushes and flowers, among the fountains, ponds and small yards. Although it is always flooded with tourists and it can be really difficult to take good pictures, still it’s very worth the visit.

Unbelievably beautiful! Breathtaking! The whole place is like the garden of eden! How the Muslim minds and imagination worked, this place is one of the best examples of that. Creative, Natural, Soothing, Refreshing, yet Practical!

Generalalife is a complex of parks, hedges, fountains and decorations. Probably the most charming part of the Alhambra. I highly recommend this few-minute walk.

IMPORTANT: There are quite a few checks for passport and your ticket in this area. Make sure to bring these with you or else they’ll deny you entrance. Would highly recommend purchasing tickets in advance. A beautiful garden amongst the old fortresses and walls. I would advise to visit these areas in the earlier parts of the day, ideally before noon as that’s when the rush begins to settle in. I had a great time with my family and this part of the tour took about an hour to complete with lots of photography spots along the way.

This was the summer palace of the Nasrid rulers in Granada when moslems occupied Spain. It is located East and uphill of Alhambra. We were not allowed inside the palace but we walked the lovely gardens . The garden design here is more westernized.

Great place too disorganized, too many times asking for tickets and passport, too slow to enter. And every day appears to be the same

Amazing place, but if I have to choose between this and the Palacios Nazaries, I will always choose the palacios. The generalife its a good complement to the visit, but be aware of hot temperatures on Summer, try to get there early in the morning!

We had a tour Generalife + Alhambra. Generalife was the summer home. Many gardens, small lakes and water all around. The price was worth it. I think it's better the tour than the normal ticket as with the latter you'd miss much info about the place. Great view of the Alhambra from Generalife

Free entrance, I recommend going there separate from Alhambra or after all palaces with the paid entrance. In March there weren't too many plants so as a garden it wasn't impressive. It does have a few nice views over the city but I'm glad I didn't have to pay for entrance, expected much more from it.

This shouldn't be missed if you are visiting the Alhambra in Granada! This gorgeous buildimg and gardens are a perfect destination to learn about the Islamic past of southern Spain. If you can visit in the spring, the gardens are spectacular!

Gorgeous garden with a multitude of different plants. Each plant has a history in the generalife. Lots of beautiful budding and blooming roses. The smells are really great

The most beautiful sight in Granada. The gardens and the buildings are ravishing. Wear comfortable shoes and take something to eat, there are drinking fountains. Always buy tickets online if you want to avoid the queue.

as the first station of a day tour Generalife + Alhambra, you can find. Generalife as a summer palace. Beautiful gardens, small lakes and water all around. Great view of the Alhambra from Generalife

Everything is beautiful there and everything has been described, said and written. I'll just add that the view on the other parts of Alhambra is splendid as well.

One must devote a whole day to see every corner of Generalife, it is worthy to visit it separately from Nasrid Palace and Alcazaba, because it is very big and has endless spots to discover and make photos! One can have food and drinks to have small stops and recharge. It is a breathtaking place!

Beautiful gardens, well preserved water systems and buildings. Great view over Alhambra on the opposite hill and the city of Granada below. Definitely worth the walk even in December!

Nothing improves a garden visit like getting a free carrot. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. I did hear that they were thinking if getting some garden cats (over the gardeners protests) to try to appeal to a wider demographic.

Ένα πανέμορφο παλάτι περισσότερο για τους κήπους του τους εξωτερικούς του χώρους όπου υπαρχουν και θέατρα γιατί υπάρχουν διάφορες εκδηλώσεις που γίνονται εκεί.

Lovely gardens and summer place adjacent to the Alhambra Palace Complex. It is delightful in the autumn, when the weather is comfortably cool and there is fall foliage. Make sure to buy tickets in advance because they are usually sold out!

  • 5/5 Michael B. 1 year ago on Google
A beautiful castle with beautiful surroundings. This area will be very busy by the time you arrive here on your Alhambra visit. If you're lucky you'll have a few moments to yourself but you won't get photos clear of people unless you sprint here at opening time. Some of the best views of Granada are found from this area.

Generalife of Alhamra palace complex, Granada, Spain 🇪🇸 were summer gardens during Muslim rule and were used and extended even during Christian rule after 1492. Gaeneralife are located adjacent to the palace's main building. These gardens including beautiful patios, plants, flowers & fountains with amazing views of the city from the hilltop.

  • 5/5 Georges Y. 1 year ago on Google
Light and airy and sitting on top of a hill, this beautiful palace has some of the most memorable gardens that I've seen anywhere. Elegantly understated, with simple but gorgeous water fountains and water running literally all over the place, this summer palace overlooks the older palaces of Alhambra, the Albaicin neighborhood and the valley beyond. The perspectives are to die for. No matter in which direction you look, there will be an infinite number of beautiful shots waiting for you. While the Nasrid Palaces will impress you with architecture, this palace's gardens are its main attraction. Choose a beautiful sunny day. Try to get there early in the morning - it opens at 8:30 - to avoid the huge crowds, especially during the summer.

Lots of gardens which are well maintained, with water a clear focus as most have fountains to aid cooling and providing a wonderful calmness. Don't be surprised to find a snake or two enjoying the cool water.

  • 2/5 J. M. P. 2 years ago on Google
Nice gardens but it is too crowded to enjoy, even with drizzle on the day packed with people trying to all get the same picture and just standing still in entrance ways to get their pictures. Least favourite part of the Alhambra.
