1-THE
RIP
OFF:
we
knew
that
from
other
reviews
and
we
reconfirm
it.
The
tourist
trap
is
the
20
usd
charged
to
foreigners
(8
to
nationals)
for
the
truck
to
take
you
to
the
top
of
the
volcano
where
you
can
do
the
trails.
20
usd
for
6
km
makes
it
proportionally
more
expensive
than
a
plane
ticket.
Yet
the
only
reason
to
walk
all
the
way
up,
and
it
is
very,
very
steep
(45
degrees
in
some
points),
is
to
save
money
as
otherwise
you
walk
along
the
road
where
trucks
and
4x4
pass
and
the
route
has
no
interest
whatsoever.
If
you
want
to
hike
better
take
the
transport
and
pay
for
one
of
the
long
trails
at
the
top.
2-CHAOTIC:
once
you
have
paid
no
one
cares
about
you.
You
have
to
fight
to
get
into
the
truck,
no
order,
no
line,
no
one
organizing.
This
is
if
the
truck
comes
at
all,
as
even
on
a
crowded
day
like
hours
it
is
erratic.
When
your
ask
about
it
they
tell
you
the
truck
is
on
its
way
down,
but
an
hour
later
still
nothing.
A
group
of
us
complained
and
finally
they
put
us
on
a
Land
Cruiser
and
took
us
up.
Half
way
up
we
found
the
truck
(the
one
that
was
'coming
down')
parked
under
a
shadow
with
the
driver
sleeping
in
the
cabin.
On
the
way
down
the
same
waiting-fighting
show
repeats
itself.
If
you
are
unlucky
you
may
wait
anything
between
2
to
4
hours
(up
and
down).
All
for
a
1
hour
walk
if
you
only
do
the
crater
trail,
the
only
one
with
no
additional
fee
and
no
compulsory
guide.
For
the
other
two
3-4
hour
long
trails
you
have
to
pay
another
fee
and
the
compulsory
guide.
3-VOLCANO?
CRATER?
The
walks
are
under
an
interesting
forest
full
of
epiphytes
and
bromeliads,
but
it
is
an
old
forest
so
you
don't
have
the
feeling
of
walking
around
a
crater
or
a
volcano
at
all.
And
the
views
everyone
talks
about
only
exist
in
clear
sky
days
and
from
3
specific
viewpoints
as
the
rest
is
under
the
canopy.
4-IN
SHORT:
if
you
don't
want
to
waste
time
and
money
don't
come
here.
If
you
want
a
volcano
go
to
Concepción
in
Ometepe.
If
you
want
a
primary
forest
go
to
Selva
Negra.
