OMGosh, where to begin. Number one, YES, take the time, make the stop, go through the museum, hike the trails. The museum is brilliant, built over the highway, it was built in the air, taking up no precious space on the ground. The story of the westward expansion that passed through and around the area was vast and sweeping. The murals are some of the most exquisitely painted murals I’ve ever seen. The artists that painted the murals are of the highest caliber. Jaw dropping.

Our boys are 7&5 and they had a blast! It was nice being able to go through at our own pace and the handheld listening devices are great! Our boys were able to work them on their own most of the time. They had so much fun panning for gold and fossils. They also thought it was cool to see the traffic below and get to watch who was speeding 😂 We all four enjoyed this! It was a nice time! I as a mother wished there was a picture spot that they took your picture and offered it to you at a price(we have one from all that we have been to 😂)

The grandeur of the archway over I-80 beckoned on our way to Colorado in early August, but our visit to this intriguing place would have to wait until our return trip to Iowa. We spent the night in Kearney on our way home, and visited the museum bright and early. From the second we walked in the door we were greeted by a buckskin clad figure who, if I hadn't known better, would have thought it was Jim Bridger himself. We grabbed our audio devices and set out on a journey of discovery. It was amazing how the moment we stepped off the escalator and entered the linear exhibit, we were fully immersed in an interpretive journey through the development of the American culture itself. Oblivious to the buzz of traffic on the interstate below our feet for the next hour; we were now part of the story. I'm 40 and my kids are almost all under a decade old, but it was amazing how the self-guided interpretation and lifelike figures made you feel like you were truly immersed in the history of the Platte River and the characters that contributed to its story. If you pass by this warehouse of history without stopping, it is your loss.

Great place to take a break from 80. Clean bathrooms, nice friendly older gentleman working the museum. State info center also located inside as well as a gift shop. Outside has some nice statues and a great bridge and trails to hike/ride. Can buy fish pellets to feed the fish. Didn’t get a chance to go see the museum, but will definitely next time with son!

We had stopped completely by chance while passing through and ended up taking time to go through the whole museum and walk the paths outside! It's a truly impressive place and hits on so many educational topics in a really fun and interactive way! The amount of work and attention to detail is really astounding and the people were all so friendly! If you're ever passing by with a little extra time it's really worth a visit, it won't take you off your driving route and will definitely add some excitement to your day!!

Fun interactive and hands on history information that kept your attention the entire time! Give yourself plenty of time to really take in all the memorabilia and listen to all the stories and facts at the Wonderful, Gem of a museum! Family of 4 cost $31 My boys are almost 9, and almost 3. A must visit!!

The Archway was a fun and educational stop on our way home from Colorado. The handheld audio speakers allowed us to listen to the display narratives at our own pace. The displays were lifelike. A lot of thought and dedication went into planning this exhibit. We enjoyed "walking with pioneers on the Oregon Trail"; watching a rider exchange mounts at a Pony Express station; reliving the Era of the Drive-In Theatre; and hearing about the transcontinental railroad. The Archway brought history to life!

Neat experience! I had driven under the monument countless times and never stopped but it was worth it. However, I think the audio tour is something you do once and don't necessarily have to do again. The outdoor area is well taken care of and I appreciate the use of native plants and flowers. Would be a nice area to hold an outdoor event.

We had a great time, super educational! Makes me want to learn more. Beautiful outside! Took about 90 min to go through the museum. 50 different major points to hear.

How cool !!! So glad we stopped in. Took about an hour and a half for us since we listened to every single recording and took it all in. We thought this was a very well done museum! Friendly and helpful people work there. It has so much interesting information and is clean and a comfortable temperature inside. It's got amazing historically accurate displays. I loved the dramatic thunderstorm and the other effects. If you love history you'll appreciate this one!!! If you don't love history you should still go to see the way it was done and look out the window to see the traffic below. That is so awesome! I encourage everyone, especially those interested in the past and those with school age kids, to stop by.

There is a pretty hike, some historical items to check out, and a gift shop to visit for free. The gift shop has lots of Nebraska souvenirs, locally made items, and snacks. There is an admission fee to go upstairs to see the museum and admire the view over the interstate. However, it is a reasonably fun thing to do on a family road trip. There is also an area that can be used as an events center. **we were disappointed to find the maze is gone.

There was a lot more to see here than anticipated. Leave yourself plenty of time to explore the exhibits. There's more than an hour of audio clips you can listen to as you move through and lots to look at.

Ken welcomed us in with a cheery mood and very helpful. He got us started on our self guided tour and we were also able to use a wheelchair for my mom for free so she was able to go through the tour and enjoy it. It's a must have to stop and do with the kids or your family such a great place. They also have a giftshop with really cute items to purchase.

Total tourist trap, but glad I experienced it once! The biggest downside is they only have 2 small windows to look down to see the interstate and they face east! (Even though the entire monument is an ode to western expansion! 🤦🏼‍♀️) It’s $15 for adults to get a audio guide (required) and ticket to go up in the arch. Then it’s a little museum about the Oregon trail and the Lincoln Highway and western expansion. We only listened to a couple of the audio guides because we didn’t want to be there all day. Lovely park across the road.

There is a self guided tour of the archway. Your ticket is also a listening device to hear about the history of Nebraska, the Oregon Trail leading up to the Old Lincoln Highway. Traveled across Nebraska for years but first time inside the Archway. Absolutely amazing. Thank you to all the staff and volunteers for making this a memorable event.

I have been wanting to visit ever since the construction began. I always passed by in a Semi but on Thursday I stopped in my private vehicle. It was AWESOME! It's easily a 3 hour tour so take your time and a lot of pictures!

A great value for a small or large family. Lots of good information presented in an engaging way. Also enjoyed clocking drivers on the interstate through the speed gun window. Great park/trail nearby for weary travelers to stretch their legs.

This museum was so much better then I thought it was going to be your on like a story of the town and prairie as it is developed over the years , you get a small recorder to listen to at certain spots in the museum is very fun. the children loved it had a fake storm come through and much lighting affects

This place is so cool! It's a walk through museum above I-80 that allows you to walk at your own pace and hear the history of the area. Give yourself about 90 minutes to do it right. The gift shop is really cool too!

We didn't have a lot of time, so we just took some pictures, made a purchase in the gift shop, and left. We plan on stopping here again and spending a lot of time. It is amazing and we can't wait to visit and see everything. This is a great place to stop in your travels, and kids will love it. Bathrooms are very clean. There is an area where you can go eat some lunch under a gazebo or you can sit on the edge by the river. There are little ponds/lakes you can walk to, as well.

The Archway was amazing and we absolutely loved it. The Bronze sculptures were beautiful out front. The gift shop had alot to offer and there is something for everyone. I thought it was going to be like any other museum, but when we went upstairs we were blown away. It is very interactive with lightning and they did an amazing job staging things. I suggest you go and see for yourself.

Very cool museum & gift shop. They have "mining bags" for kids as an extra activity. Fun displays, with audio descriptions, of Kearney since the 1800s (fort kearney -> pioneers/explorers -> train & interstate)

What a neat place!!! You will tour the museum with a handheld radio and listen to a story being told. I preferred to read about everything vs listening. I was truly amazed: this place exceeded my expectations. We will follow the trail of the settlers coming west up into the 1960’s. The characters are truly human like!!! The displays are amazing and well done. We really enjoyed spending the morning here.

This was a fantastic place to go for our three boys ages 7-12...probably the best museum experience we have had with them. The way the audio and experience was laid out made it into a bit of a scavenger hunt for them. We took a little over an hour and they were really engaged, not wanting to miss any of the numbers/content.

Lived in Nebraska since 1998 and have never visited this wonder. It's a shame it took me this long. One of the best museums I have ever been through!!! A must stop. Plan on an hour-hour and a half.

What a great experience to walk through and listen to Nebraska history from the Indians and Pioneers to the building and expansion of the railroad to the highway system all based around the lives of people. Worth the price of admission. Definitely will be a great memory.
