Looking for somewhere to eat breakfast. Was not interested in the fast food choices or chains available. Tommy's was the only restaurant in the area. Read the reviews, has a pretty high rating. However the negative reviews were a concern, but decided to try it myself and see if improvements made. Plus there weren't any other choices. Ordered a western omelet. I asked for cheese because I saw reviews that said they don't include cheese in their omelets, so be sure to ask for it. Omelet came with two slices of cheese plopped on top. Had to fold the cheese into the omelet so it would melt. Omelet was salty. The grits were NOT cooked, inedible. Pancakes were ok. How they have such a high rating, is a mystery. And no, I won't be calling Tommy's Restaurant to discuss. Make some changes. There's enough negative reviews that are repetitive.

Amazing experience. As a truck driver my wife and I always look for these type restaurants to get a better fresh cooked food choice. Stumbled into Tommy’s and was overwhelmed by the crowd and long wait. I soon knew why. Great menu of choices and quality cooked food. Spoke to Tommy himself and couldn’t be nicer. All the staff was friendly and everyone was working their backside off. I am from the deep south where fried chicken is our staple. Boy did he put us to shame. The fried chicken was amaaaazing. We will be back. Love the Trump minus Pence sign as well.

Really great little diner. Awesome aesthetic. Very reasonably priced. The place had a steady flow of patrons. This will be on my list of places to revisit in GI

Anytime I'm driving by Grand Island, I have to stop here. The fried chicken is freaking amazing. By the way this was my breakfast at 830 in the morning.

I like this diner. It is a true family diner style. Nice portion and great price. I would say maybe food need more salt, but that is just me being picky. Definitely will go here when I want chicken.

It was my first time at any diner’s and I am amazed at how delicious the food was. The waitress was also very nice. She also comes and check the table often, making I’m doing ok. Their French salad dressing isn’t like any other dressing. I don’t know if it’s homemade but the taste is very deliciously different. Their fry chicken thighs and wing was sooo crunchy on the outside and juicy in the inside. Surprisingly it was that greasy at all which is rare with fry food like chicken. Highly recommended

Tommy's is a gem. It has a relaxed and homey atmosphere. Tommy himself seated us and our waiter took care of us in a friendly & efficient manner. The food was great and the cream cheese filled French Toast with fruit was da bomb!

Fun diner. Our server was friendly. We stopped for a late dinner. The blueberry turkey sandwich is just as described, turkey breast lunch meat on blueberry bread. They have so many kinds of pie, we were sad we didn't have room for it.

Nice nostalgic diner. The food has that home cooked feel with a really friendly staff. Don't forget to leave room for some pie.

The place was packed, but it didn't seem to affect the employees at all. You could tell they were working double time, but as team. While at the same time, remaining calm and pleasant with the customers. Just don't see it like that anymore so I was impressed. O yea, food was great and so was the prices. They have pies too!

My wife and I both had the half pound buffalo burger. They were hot and juicy. The food was all made when ordered, you can't get that flavor from under a heat lamp. It may take just a little longer to get your food, but the flavor you get makes it worthwhile.

The place is clean, nicely decorated and the employees are nice and helpful. The fries were delicious, the steak exactly as I ordered. William was a very good and professional server. And the bill surprised me - positively... Dinner for two for only $39.46. I RECOMMEND!!!

Driving through after a long weekend of Gambler 500 Nebraska, we wanted something good that we don’t have at home and Tommy’s popped up so we stopped in to eat and I’m glad we did. Old style dinner like when we were kids, breakfast all day. I had the breaded pork chops, husband had the fish and well worth it.

This is what I think of when I think of a diner!! Homey, ma & pa type place with regular seating or counter service. Staff was attentive, even when it was busy. Actually ate here twice during my visit...French Dip and fries the first time, and French Toast, grits, and bacon the second time. Both meals were delicious and the portions generous! Full breakfast menu available all day. Burgers, sandwiches, and comfort food items (think chicken-fried steak, fried chicken, etc) for those times when you're not feeling breakfasty. And in typical diner fashion, we can't forget the pies! I didn't sample any of them, but they looked DELISH!!

Kids loved their kids meals. The Mac and cheese was delicious. The steak was okay. Over cooked and 30% odnit was fatty and rubbery. 2 of my 3 waters had a bug in them.

The food was absolutely stellar! Some of the best food I have had in a while. The only reason I had to take off a star was how long it took for us to get our food, it was probably close to an hour so I would not say to go it you are short on time. If you have time however I would strongly recommend this place it has some amazing food.

Stopped in today for lunch. Ordered the spaghetti and meatballs. Menu said homemade sauce. Nah not even close. It was nasty cheap canned sauce with fake frozen meatballs. The spaghetti was also not properly drained so the bottom of the plate was full of water. Pretty nasty. Probably shouldn't order anything but breakfast foods and burgers at that place but then again the menu should really be truthful.

In Grand Island for a while today and found Tommy’s for lunch. Great food! I had the patty melt and it was the best patty melt I think I’ve ever had. The bread was grilled and toasty not soggy at all. Another person with me had the hot beef sandwich that was delicious! Real potatoes, roast beef was moist and tender and gravy was not over salty. She had the smaller portion and said it was a perfect size portion for a senior. Pies looked delicious but we did not have any room left for pie. Will definitely eat here again when in Grand Island! We will save room for our next time!!

Hands down best homemade tasting comfort food in GI! Reasonable prices. Breakfast, delicious fried chicken, meatloaf, in glad lol large selection of pies and friendly staff makes Tommy's my go to restaurant on south side of Grand Island.

Probably the best restaurant (or top 2) in Grand Island! Nostalgic decor, but well done. Booth and counter options up front; tables in the rear. Service was fantastic! Got in on a breakfast special that was both reasonably priced and very tasty!! Restaurant runs a pie and coffee special each afternoon. I found this place earlier this summer and have been calling locals (I met at Tommy's) to come and pick me up at one of the local truck stops so we can go to breakfast together. Been here several times now and highly recommend.

Early Saturday afternoon visit. Was traveling and looked up family restaurant ('coffee shop' no longer displays restaurants, only coffee places like Starbucks and Scooters, etc). A few short miles off I-80 and worth the trip. Small hometown diner atmosphere. Although the building seems older it was clean. Tommy's was decently staffed, the food looked good and tasted good. Items were exactly as ordered (special request given). Great prices! Busy place with good reason. One to remember.
