This was an awesome surprise in Grand Junction. Away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, this place is a quiet and awesome collection of the history of this area. It would be easy to spend the entire day here. Very nice to see the many items preserved for current and future generations to see. Many items have stories and I’m sure many untold stories that go along with them. I’d love to go through this place with someone older, who may have had experience with some of the equipment and artifacts on display. Staff was so helpful in guiding us through an overview of the sprawling complex.

If you are in Grand Island, I strongly recommend this place to visit. It has some collections you will not see probably many places. There are good collections of electronics and agricultural equipments from nineteenth century to early twentieth centuries. My favorite is the switching machine. There were two buildings open when visited on Dec 26. 2021: the main building that houses the visitor center, the second building just opposite to main building - it has opera house. Please also don't forget to see the railroad village inside the stuhr museum. The place is currently going through renovation, but it is must see for those who has interest in railroad history.

We enjoyed the visit to the Stuhr Museum in Grand Island, Nebraska with its Director Chris Hochstetler showing us around. The interactive museum focuses on the prairie pioneer's life during the 19th century. Referring to "Eskimo" in the description at the replica Pawnee Earth Lodge on the grounds is unfortunate. Better to use "Inuit" to refer to the similarity between the styles of Pawnee and Inuit earth lodges.

Awesome experience! The different buildings were so interesting and the period-dressed staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. It was neat seeing them working in the various shops as they would have 200 years ago. I wish I'd taken more pictures, but we'll DEFINITELY be back!

Stuhr Museum is one of the best we have visited....or maybe the best one. The collection on vintage buildings and items can be overwhelming. Everything is well kept, organized, vlean, neat.

We didn't have too much time to spend here, so we will definitely be back. There is lots to see. The railroad town is a great place for kiddos. It is a living history area, so there are people to stop and talk to allowing for a different kind of learning experience. I missed the Prarie restoration area and the Pawnee home. Those are one my list for the next visit. The road inside the museum complex is one way. There is a way to get back to the beginning if you miss a turn off. There are several parking areas around the facility so one can choose to park and walk the grounds, or use a vehicle to get closer to areas of interest.

Was super lucky this was 2 miles up the road from my trailer drop. They even let me drive around the grounds in my semi truck tractor. This place was really awesome. Reminded me of a similar place in Germany with old medieval buildings that I got to see as a teen. Would definitely recommend. Takes a good 2 hrs to see it all.

This is a very nice museum full of history; there are tons of things to do and check out. I recommend visiting if you haven't. It's been one of my favorite places to go to as a local since I was a kid.

We had a fantastic day. All of the workers were amazing and our daughter learned so much. We were so glad that we could spend the day at the amazing museum. It was a fantastic day.

Interesting museum surrounded by a moat! Spent a day there in June 2023. Toured the museum and the Railroad Town. Re-enactors on site for many of the buildings to give us the history. Old time General Store and a restaurant there for sundries and lunch. Long day of walking but plenty of shady spots to stop and take a rest. Definitely worth a gander if you've never been there.

It's been close to 30 years since I've been here. They have added quite a few things. We were too early for all the shops and houses to be open, but this really nice young lady took us through every house. The staff is just super! We really enjoyed it.

We went during off season and they didn't have enough staff to have the outdoor buildings open so we just got to see 2 of the artifact buildings. It costs $15 a person, but we were there for over 2 hours so I think we still got our monies worth. Plan on spending the whole day here as there is so much to see outside as well as the artifact buildings.

My daughters (ages 8 and 6) and I visited for the first time recently. I was really impressed with the exhibits, particularly the old Railroad Town living history. Of particular interest to us was the blacksmith, who showed us some unique things he had made. We were there for around three hours, but it would be easy to spend even longer. The weather was perfect for our visit - pleasant for walking outside and in and out of the old buildings, which I imagine can get quite hot in the summer.

We had an amazing time! We recently got married out at the church, Karly was amazing and super helpful! She would answer her phone everytime we called with our random questions 😂 it was absolutely amazing!

The Stuhr Museum was great! I did not expect so much to see and do, but the museum delivered. There was plenty to see and explore inside, but the real treasure was the outdoor experiences. My kids loved the old church and school the best. Would definitely go again; we spent the morning there and didn’t see everything.

Love the unique architecture and beautiful historical artifacts. Friendly employees & volunteers, educational tours, and many buildings to explore. Canada geese around the water and park area, we saw 2 bald eagles as we left so keep your eyes peeled.

Very interesting museum with friendly, knowledgeable staff. We could have spent longer here. Our favorite was the antique farm implement. We really enjoyed seeing really old and well kept tractors, plows and other farm equipment. This place is a treasure!

A lovely stop just off I80! Every volunteer and employee we met was very friendly and happy to answer questions. There’s so much to do and see, I only wish we had more time!

This is a "must see" to get a glimpse of history throughout the state of Nebraska. Probably the friendliest hosts we have ever met may guide your tour bringing a personal experience to the visit. Note: it can be cold and windy outside on a December Nebraska day so dress appropriately to take in the wonderful outdoor exhibits.

Visited seprember 2021 & could have spent all day here, but only took 2 hours strolling the outside buildings and exploring the 1890 town. pretty cool place, the tin shop, the fancy hat shop and church graveyard were my favorites.

Amazing museum and great people. Plan on spending 3 hours to soak it all in.

Stuhr is a gem on the prairie. The exhibits give a true picture of the westward migration and of the towns that sprung up along the way. My last visit was to attend a fundraiser put on by the museum foundation. The theme was Farm to Table. It included wine tasting of Nebraska wines and a 5 course dinner comprised 100% of locally grown foods.
