Although
I
had
an
excellent
flow
during
the
Goodale
Park
community
session
I
attended,
the
vibes
were
disgusting,
especially
given
all
the
positive
reviews
I've
read.
For
starters,
the
instructor
(let'a
call
her
"Jane")
came
across
as
cold
and
judgmental.
I
am
used
to
yoga
instructors
promoting
a
warm,
relaxed,
inclusive
environment,
no
matter
the
location.
Before
class
started,
I
overheard
Jane
and
a
student
talking
about
another
student.
Because
I
did
not
hear
the
whole
conservation,
I
am
not
sure
if
they
were
gossiping
or
bad-mouthing
the
other
student,
but
their
tones
sounded
snarky.
Not
a
good
look.
In
addition
to
the
above,
the
racism
was
unquestionable.
Both
the
teacher
and
her
helper
were
more
attentive
to
the
white
students
than
they
were
to
the
two
black
students.
For
example,
I
overheard
Jane's
helper
jovially
ask
two
white
women
if
they
had
pre-registered
for
the
class
and
for
their
names
so
their
attendance
could
be
recorded.
When
said
helper
approached
me,
her
entire
demeanor
changed:
she
asked
for
my
name
as
if
I
were
a
troublemaker
who
happened
to
walk
by
the
gazebo,
yoga
mat
in
tow.
Another
example:
at
the
end
of
the
session,
both
Jane
and
her
helper
belittled
a
black
man
sitting
on
the
other
side
of
the
gazebo
for
choosing
to
continue
playing
his
keyboard
after
both
or
one
of
the
women
asked
him
to
stop
until
the
session
was
done.
While
they
were
talking
to
each
other
and
not
to
him,
they
were
loud
enough
for
him
to
hear.
The
whole
scene
reeked
of
entitlement,
which,
last
I
checked,
has
nothing
to
do
with
embodying
zen.
To
make
a
long
story
short,
I
won't
be
back.
