Very nice old building in downtown Columbus. If you can't find street parking there are open inexpensive parking lots within a block or two. Restrooms were very clean. Concert area was large enough to accommodate a couple hundred people. We went to see Phineas and Wolves At The Gate and had an amazing time!!!

We saw They Might Be Giants and were very impressed with the Venue. Even at the back of the theater sitting in the seats, everything was clear. A great view of the band and the slope allowed us to be well above the row in front of us. The staff was friendly and even joked around with us. I will be back to see more shows there.

Very cool venue. Apparently it was a Masonic temple. Lots of old ornate architecture and stone. This show was on the third floor and there was plenty of floor room and stadium seating. Felt like a school gym/auditorium in a good way

This is a GREAT venue for weddings and whatever type of large parties you would like to have. You can have your wedding and reception at the same place but in different rooms. I'm not sure how the food is handled but at the wedding and reception I attended there was hors d'oeuvres and dinner, and they served both along with the cake. There was also a photo booth. All in all it was a blast!!

It's historic, but that's about all it's got. I attended a wedding here. The venue was loud and creaky. The room we were in was filled with paintings from the crusades and iron crosses everywhere. The bathrooms need updated. The food at the reception was ok. Not bad not great. Parking is non existent. The groom said the company who runs it did a very poor job, especially for the price.

Had our wedding here in November and it was such a perfect venue. Natasha helped us plan our reception and went above and beyond to make sure our day was perfect. The GRAND BALLROOM is absolutely beautiful and hardly needed any extra decor. Lots of in-house vendors to choose from so minimal stress on our part. We love this place and are so happy that we chose it!

This is a neat venue tucked away inside of a neat building. The space was excellent and the bar was close, fast, and pretty cheap comparatively. Great experience overall

The building itself is stunning. However, it has not received the maintenance it deserves. Also, some of the staff are unreliable. So much potential here.

Cool venue. Seating on both sides with standing room in the middle. Decent beer and snack selection. Would definitely go back.

BEAUTIFUL space built during a previous age when craftsmen created art... Sadly - it is not utilized by local orchestras, bands, concert venue to help keep the lights burning brightly! The organ was tuned today and sounds fairly good! Not all stops functional but that is a major renovation AFTER a new roof!!! HOPE the owners/administrators are able to get HISTORIC REGISTRY and Grants to save this amazing landmark for future generations!!!

I love the atmosphere of the place, although the way they guard the elevator and make people be accompanied if they are mobility challenged is totally BS. I get it, they have one elevator and it is small, so they don't want it overwhelmed, but you have to sit and wait like 10 minutes for them to take you up to the 4th floor where the show is. That's a lot of floors for anyone impaired in their mobility.

Terrible experience. Planning my wedding here was a BIG mistake. The communication was not received properly and I was given wrong information. Every time I would meet with staff, its like they were not listening to what I was saying. At the time of my wedding nothing was done how it was suppose to be and my cake sat on the table uncut for 45 minutes after the initial cutting of the bride and groom. The staff could hardly communicate in English and my cake topper was lost. We were told that the unopened alcohol would be sent home with us that we purchased but as we were leaving, it was taken by staff and we were told it was a violation of state law. Highly do not recommend.

We only experienced the 3rd floor auditorium fo a concert. Although an old venue it still was very functional and we enjoyed it very much. There were plenty of seating and standing room. The restrooms were very clean and supplied. Snacks and beverages, including adult drinks, were available at a reasonable cost.

Went to a wedding here! It was so very fun. Be prepared to walk up and down steps if you're on the third floor though!

Really lacking in one area. Great sound, good size 1500 capacity, friendly staff. There are security guys for rock and metal shows, but the venue as of 4/3/2022 doesn't check for weapons, guns, knives, etc. No metal detecting wands or devices in use. Will not be back until this aspect is fixed. RIP Dimebag!

The Columbus Athenaeum was a lovely venue for our wedding reception! We had originally gotten married in a microwedding in February and, on a whim, decided to have a large reception in August. We only had about 75 days to plan everything. Natasha and Samantha answered every question that we had, and we had a lot! Jennifer and the staff decorated the Large Theatre beautifully! We had some special decorations to honor our loved ones who are no longer with us, and they placed those decorations with special care and attention. The food was great - highly recommend the mashed potato martinis! We chose 4 specialty drinks in honor of our 4 cats and the bartenders made each drink taste so good. Special highlights - using the theatre gallery box for a special surprise for our guests, the food and cake tastings where we got a bunch of food to try, and they managed our cookie table that our guests loved. They were very flexible - at the very beginning of the reception a guest accidentally poured red wine on my dress. Natasha and the owner (whose name I unfortunately forget) mitigated the damage to my dress by pouring club soda on the stains as I freaked out. This delayed dinner but the staff smoothly transitioned to the new timeline. I want to emphasize that my dress would've been ruined had Natasha and the owner not moved quickly to help me. A great thing about using the Athenaeum is that they have a bakery and a DJ/photobooth company that they frequently work with, so we didn't have to find those vendors. The cake was delicious, the DJ kept the party going, and the photobooth attendant was so helpful and kind! This next point only tangentially involves the Athenaeum but most of our guests did not end up parking in the garage that is recommended by the Athenaeum. They found their own parking so our advice would be to forego a contract with the parking garage and, instead, use that money towards upgrading your package to include the mashed potato martini bar!

Columbus athenaeum has a beautiful space, but the kitchen is disgusting. I was a sous chef there for a short period of time and the things I seen were crazy. They had a " bring your dog to work day" and dogs were running around the kitchen! Of course I complained and that stopped. Also, the kitchen is in the basement and it's very old with outdated equipment. They don't care about the food there. When you get a space there, the food is a part of the package. They won't let you cater your own event. Do yourself a favor and find somewhere else.

The wonderful staff at the Columbus Atheneum truly go above and beyond to ensure a seamless and memorable event. With its elegant architecture and graceful decor, the venue creates an atmosphere of romance and celebration. Throughout the celebration, they effortlessly orchestrate every detail, ensuring that everything runs smoothly and according to plan. The wonderful staff added an extra layer of magic to my wedding shower, turning it into an occasion filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments. This beautiful venue promises an unforgettable experience, as it becomes the canvas for cherished memories and the starting point of a lifelong journey of love and happiness.

The Columbus Athenaeum was extremely accommodating when our original venue cancelled on us with 70 days before our wedding and made planning our event there as easy as possible! Their flexibility and willingness to adapt to our needs exceeded our expectations and helped to make our big day the best day of our lives. Their staff is professional, very responsive, and thoughtful when it comes to planning and execution and we couldn't have been happier with our experience. We worked primarily with Mark (the owner) and Samantha and loved every minute of it! Their attention to detail and willingness to go the extra mile made our night so much more special and memorable and we can't thank them enough for everything. We highly recommend this venue to make your wedding experience the best it can be!
