DO NOT BRING YOUR BIRD HERE!!! I brought my Quaker parrot here after an accident that resulted in a badly broken leg. DR. Jones is inexperienced and the facility lacks the leadership necessary for good care. I asked countless questions and was given non answers - not even opinions. I questioned the care… After 6 weeks and 2grand later the bird was still in the exact same condition. They responded with amputate, put him down or surrender my bird. Thank god I didn’t. I got a second opinion with Dr. Scott McDonald and my bird is up and walking, perching, and living his best life. ON BOTH LEGS. Apparently the leg had not been set correctly. I wish I could get my money back from this ABSOLUTE SCAM. I hope this place finds better education for their staff. Don’t go here.

We were fortunate enough to find care for our feathered family here. The care is truly top notch expertise, loving and professional. After we moved to Houston metro, we still drive the three hours one way to take them in for anything significant. I don't have any pictures of the office but here are two of our feathered kids that get their excellent care here. The little guy, conure, just had surgery for a significant injury and he is doing great thanks to their care. We wouldn't have entrusted that serious medical work to anyone else. My cockatiel was rushed to ER last night and then was transferred to Texas Avian this morning. Dr Jones went absolutely above and beyond trying to diagnose and treat my sweet bird. We called back and forth with estimates and options. When I arrived at the clinic she was extremely prompt and discussed our options openly. She has a heart for animals and a passion for her job. The staff was very professional and kind. I have several exotic pets and will definitely be using this clinic again.

I called about my bearded dragon who was very close to death. I was told to bring her in. I drove 2 hours in my car with mechanical problems to get my baby help. I get there and was there for 2 hours. I was charged almost $300 for them to tell me nothing was wrong and to take her to another vet in a few days. When I got home she got worse. So the next morning I drive an hour to another vet and within 20 minutes they found that she had 15-20 eggs stuck inside her. Now I don't know if I'm going to be able to afford the $1000 surgery to save my lizard because I wasted $300 plus the gas to get there for them to tell me she's perfectly fine. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone! I didn't even receive a break down of what I was paying for. So thank you for absolutely nothing!

I was referred here for my 6 month old holland lop to have a neuter and dental surgery. We went in for surgery and after waiting 6 hours, we hear that there was a “complication” and the team had hit my buns trachea causing excessive bleeding. The surgery was cancelled. I should’ve taken that as a sign, but rescheduled. Again, after waiting 5 hours I get a call from Dr. Ezra Frager saying they are doing CPR on my bun. Why did he call me and not continue to save his life after I signed that I wanted CPR to be done if needed, I don’t know. Willie was pronounced dead before they could even begin the surgery. Dr. Frager said his heart stopped when giving the anesthesia. Could he have receive too much or something underlying was happening, again, I don’t know. Regardless, I will never be going to this vet again and I would not recommend for surgeries. When we went to pick him up we got greeted with, “I really don’t know what happened.. Rabbits are tricky” We didn’t even get all our money back. I paid almost $1,000 for them to take my best friend away. Rest in peace, Willie.

My husband and I unexpectedly came into possession of a very sick Hermann Tortoise, who we didn't think would live. We've never thought of owning a tortoise, so this was a whole new world. Exotic vets are pretty hard to find, so Texas Avian & Exotics was a recommendation from our regular vet. And I'm so glad we found this place! Dr. Sydney Jones and the staff here have been incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and supportive as we sought to nurture this tort back to health. Thanks to they're guidance, our tort is surviving AND thriving! The staff is very caring and every interaction was super positive. They are a bit pricey compared to "regular" vet visits, but it was worth it for us to make sure the vet was specifically trained to treat exotic animals. Highly recommend!

Dr Jones and her assistant are absolutely amazing. I brought my bearded dragon Millie in for an exam for an injury. They are very thorough, thoughtful, and very kind. They handled everything with care start to finish and are the most understanding vet I’ve ever been to. I researched vets all over my area and decided to drive 30 miles to try out this one and I don’t regret a thing. Thank you so much!

I just had my first appointment here in about two years. Back then I had a great experience, the surgery for my bearded dragon went well, and she went back to normal. Dr. T took amazing care of her. This week, her eye started swelling really badly and I had a feeling I should bring her back here. They remembered her from her last visit two years ago. This time I met with Dr. Jones, who was so compassionate and understanding, and helped me work through how to tackle this issue. I have her surgery scheduled next week and I know she will be in good hands. *update* her surgery was successful and she is recovering normally! If you have an exotic pet and need high quality care you can rely on, you need to come here. Everyone from front staff to technicians to vets are all incredibly kind and they genuinely care about your pet. I'm also very thankful that they have a credit care option so I can pay the fees over time. It would have been extremely difficult to pay for the procedure without it. This place is a blessing and I will always bring her here for specialty care.

We are fortune to have the professional at Texas Avian and Exotic to take care of our rescues. They care and love all our animals so great. I've even walked in with an emergency and they have taken him in and gone to work. They have a difficult job because Exotic require so much more knowledge and equipment. Thank you for being there for The Texas Housewreckers....

Dr Jones and her staff are great! I am new to owning a bird and she was very informative. They go over your charges before they do any procedures and help you make informed decisions. My quaker and I will only be using them in the future.

I can not say enough good things about our experience here. My husband and I took in a couple emergency fosters early this week. I tried another nearby exotic vet prior to coming here and was treated rudely and not given the time of day. When I called Texas Avian & Exotic Hospital, the receptionist was so sweet and understanding as I tried to explain the situation. They made time to see the sulcatas right away. I was impressed by how organized the whole process was. Right away, they emailed online forms and had an option to provide photos prior to the appointment which helped so much, given the amount of stress we were under. They assisted my husband with moving the tortoises from the truck to the exam room, the staff was very compassionate and communicated very well. The doctor was wonderful throughout all of it and made time to speak to all parties Involved. They made the whole process so smooth and left us feeling very reassured. I can not thank them enough for all they did!

I don’t live in Dallas but I traveled 10 hours from El Paso to have my hamsters seen by Dr Dowling on a few occasions. The staff at Texas Avian was very accommodating with appointment considering I was coming from so far away. Dr Dowling is a wonderful veterinarian. She is knowledgeable and caring and explained everything very well, taking the time to follow up on any questions I had after the appointments. The vet techs are fantastic at what they do, and I felt very comfortable leaving my hamsters with them when they needed procedures done. I am very happy with this clinic, they are well worth the 10 hour drive when I need my hamsters to be seen by a specialist.

Two of my guinea pigs were referred here for troubleshooting and managing some complicated conditions. We have been working with the amazing Dr Antinoff, who is thorough, thoughtful, and patient with all my many questions (I always learn stuff where I come!). I never feel rushed at the appointments and appreciate the opportunity to follow-up with email when needed. The entire staff on the care team is always so kind and compassionate. I’m so impressed with the technicians I’ve met and how they care for my pigs. The reception team is wonderful, from triaging questions to scheduling to even sending pictures of my pigs when they’ve had to stay overnight. The office space and exam rooms are welcoming and comfortable, and because the clinic is connected to some of the other facilities in the complex, there are lots of options for very complex care and overnight hospitalization. This is such a great place for exotics care - I’m so grateful that my guinea pigs are patients here!

Loved my experience here! 🥰 It's worth every dollar to get my lovebird treated here. I had a concern my 4 month old lovebird is sick; its his right side nostril that is wet. Currently, he's on lower dose antibiotics and lab tests sent out to determine what it is. Since it's an hour drive, they provided a mini ice pack to go in the bag to keep the meds cool. That was so nice and they were prepared. They guided me very well how to medicate my bird so I have confidence to do it at home. During the wellness exam, they answered all my questions, were very gentle/ friendly with my bird, and were very informative about birds! You can tell they love what they do and are very well educated on birds. I'm definitely coming back for checkups. I know my bird is safe in their hands compared to other vets that just say they treated exotic animals... Update: I think it's super nice they check in on my lovebirds status a couple days later. He is on antibiotics and trying to get better.

This team and clinic is Bar none!! From the receptionist being kind and helpful from foray call to checkout! Special thanks, Nikki who took extra time to answer all my questions to educate me on what's best! (no pushy sales) DR. Jones caring personality, not making me feel rushed getting to know my parrot and educating me along the way. I went in as a worried bird mom and came out more knowledgeable confident momma and with a healthy bird. Thank you all!!

I took my tortoise in yesterday (Monday) after an incident with my tortoise (dog attack) that happened over the weekend. The process of getting her seen with no appointment was easier than I expected so I was very grateful that she could be seen so soon. Dr. Theiland was truly amazing and educated me on everything I could do to help my baby heal. She's by far, the best vet I could have hoped to see my exotic pet in such a situation. Very grateful for this office as a whole, there were multiple people who helped us through this process as well and I am comfortable with, and even look forward to, being back in for follow up sessions in the near future.

We brought our bearded dragon here for a health check due too a few concerns. They had great advice to offer and did a thorough exam. They even checked the uvb bulb for us. We felt satisfied with the care they provided. They gave us a cost breakdown and prioritized care options to make sure the most important things were checked without doing extra unnecessarily invasive treatments if not needed. I appreciated the collaboration and advice we received and felt listened to and guided by the vet. It was awesome that our tech was so familiar with bearded dragons. It helped us feel much more comfortable. All of the staff was friendly and helpful. The office was clean and comfortable and not noisy. The bathroom was easily accessible to all and sparkling clean. The facility has multiple buildings and at first I thought it might be difficult to figure out where to go, but the signage in the parking lot was very clear and made it easy to navigate. I highly recommend this clinic to anyone with an unusual or exotic pet!! So glad we found them.
