I had my second child at GBC- this was my second birth center delivery. The experience overall, was great. The midwife who was on call when I went into labor- Joy- was confident and calm during my labor, with lots of positive energy, and little stress, which I appreciated. Being as this was my second birth center experience, I did not need high support and felt fairly confident in my own ability to birth baby naturally. I would recommend getting yourself an excellent doula if you feel you need high support during labor, to guarantee that you would have it. In order to give an honest review- there were a few things I want to mention, if you’re looking to birth your baby here. 1. Out of all the birth centers in the DFW area, this is probably the most affordable, though your min cost will most definitely be in the $2500-$3000 range, with an upwards out of pocket max of $4000. It ALL depends on your insurance and what your deductible is. Lower deductible- lower overall cost, higher deductible- higher overall cost. Kailee works the front desk at GBC and can answer all your insurance questions! She was so helpful when I was figuring this out. We decided to switch to a low deductible plan halfway through my pregnancy, which cut our BC fees by $1000 and minimized a lot of our blood work/lab fees as well. 2. There are surprise fees- for example, the sonogram technician who does Ultrasounds as a partner with GBC, charges $170 for the sonogram read but THEN you pay for an outsourced provider to read the sonogram, which for us was an additional $100 because the MD was not in network(a difficult thing to verify before a sonogram. We also didn’t know about this additional MD fee until we went in for the sonogram..a surprise cost.) 3. More surprise fees- we got bills on bills (a $50 bill here, $80 bill there, etc) for all the lab work done at the birth center, via Quest Diagnostics. I changed my insurance plan to a low deductible halfway through pregnancy, so the lab work done after that insurance change was not expensive, but the lab work done before, was. 4. Remember to ask about your lab results because I noticed this follow up was often forgotten. The results might be online on your midwife account app that you set up with GBC when you become a patient, but I honestly didn’t really check that so I’m not sure if it was. I did my Group B strep swab, and was never told that those results came back positive. When in labor at GBC, my husband later told me that the midwives had asked if I wanted antibiotics but I couldn’t hear them bc my AirPods were in, so he said no for me, because things were moving so fast. So I was GBS positive but didn’t know…and didn’t get ABX in labor before baby was born either. It was only before discharge when I was asked to sign a release of liability for not receiving ABX, that I learned I had been GBS positive. I was overall okay with not receiving ABX, just a little frustrated that I had no idea that I was GBS positive..I would have tried natural remedies to work on that before baby was born, had I known. But was just trusting that baby wouldn’t be in the minority statistic of newborns who get GBS disease. All that said, I have zero regrets going with GBC! Discharge did feel hurried, the environment somewhat loud with conversations; the whole experience did not feel as romantic or sacred as with our first (this baby was also born 15 mins after we got to the BC😬) but again I was a 2nd time mom and we were okay with that because we just wanted to get home too-I’m sure if you’re specific about how you want your experience to be in your birth plan, it will be respected! Also, if you’ve birthed at a hospital, I’m sure you would be singing praises about this facility! My review is probably a little nitpicky but comes from the perspective of a momma who is used to having high quality care concerning birth, having had both my kids at birth centers. GBC is a far better alternative to hospital birthing, with better and more extensive, holistic quality of care. Everyone here was kind and wonderful to us.

I came to the birthing center on a quest for a primal, sacred birthing experience. The midwives not only encouraged me on this journey but also exceeded any expectation I ever had of respectful midwifery care. My firstborn accompanied me to our meetings; Everyone at the birth center made him feel involved and loved. Both the people and facility are relaxing and inviting. The prenatal, birth, and postnatal care we received was smooth and beautiful. I felt informed, worthy, and loved during the entire experience. A special thank you to Stephanie, Katie, Joy and Tiffany. I appreciate you for supporting us on such an empowering journey. To anyone reading this review who has not yet experienced a natural birth, I am a testament of someone who has healed from birth trauma. You and your baby deserve this. Every woman and family deserves this. It’s not just possible but meant to be. You really were made for this.

Having my baby at a birthing center was new to me. I have had previous children naturally in a hospital setting and being an RN myself, I wanted to find a more holistic experience for this birth. From day 1, meeting the birthing team I never felt like I was going to the dr… I felt like I was passing by to stop in and say hi to friends. During my birth Stephanie was the most amazing midwife, ensuring my comfort the whole time. I can’t ever thank these wonderful women enough and have nonstop singing their praises. My only upset in all of this was that I didn’t have my previous children with them as well!

I genuinely had the best possible experience at GBC. After a traumatic first birth at a different DFW birth center, I was looking for a redemptive experience with midwives who truly care, and I found that in GBC. From the day I found out I was pregnant, I was accommodated with my desire to come in and monitor my levels throughout the first trimester after struggling with infertility and multiple miscarriages. Kim and Joy were comforting and encouraging during that part of my journey. At the beginning of my third trimester, we discovered that I was severely anemic and they worked with me to find a way to improve my levels to facilitate a safe birth. My midwife during my birth was Joy who was the most calming presence. We got to the birth center at 3:45am and had our baby in our arms at 6:36am, and I don’t think I could have done it without her. She continually reminded me during the hardest parts of my birth that I was safe and my baby was safe, and that my body was made for the job it was doing. I walked out of my birth with GBC feeling respected and cared for. I can’t recommend them enough. I’m so happy that we chose GBC🤍

After having a hospital birth with our first two, we really wanted a new experience with our third child. Everyone at Grapevine Birthing Center were so welcoming at the very start. All of the midwives were great at helping us feel comfortable and answered all of our many questions. When it came time for the birth of our baby (at 41 weeks 6 days!), I was free to do what I felt was best while they ensured both mom and baby were safe. I would highly recommend Grapevine Birthing Center to those looking for a birthing experience outside of a hospital!

I cannot say enough good things about this birthing center and the wonderful people who work here. They made me feel welcome and important from the time I stepped in the door for my first appointment. I believe that everyone should be able to have this level of love and care when it comes to their prenatal appointments and labor and delivery. If I decide to have another baby, it will be with here. Not only are the midwives beyond phenomenal, so is their wonderful receptionist and the other providers who come to the center to do specialty work making this a “one stop shop”. Love love love them!

There aren’t enough good things I can say about this birthing center. If anything it would be how much smoother it went with a birthing center than with hospital. The fact that I didn’t have to stay two days away from home and get poked and prodded every two hours and actually got to rest and recover. Plus my experiences at the hospital wasn’t so great thanks to some aggressive nurses who were so rude and had me on the brink of tears. Also it was so annoying that the nurses kept changing so you have no idea who is going to be in charge of your care. But at the birthing center I had my midwives who were with me my entire pregnancy and they made the experience amazing. They were so supportive and gentle and kept telling me I was doing great and said/did exactly the kind of things you need at that time. It’s difficult to put into words but it felt like being surrounded by people who genuinely care so much for you and your baby and have your best interest at heart. Overall if I do have another baby I would definitely go to grapevine birthing center again.

I switched from an OB to grapevine birthing center at 34 weeks pregnant with my first baby after I toured the beautiful place I knew it was where I wanted to be! I had the most amazing birth experience this place is truly awesome and everyone there cares so much about you and your baby. At every appointment they went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of! The birth day it’s self was magical! They really helped keep me relaxed during my water birth! Midwife Joy was perfect for me and could pretty much read my mind at every appointment and always put me at ease... she delivered my daughter and really brought a lot of peace into the birth room as well as Stephanie and Debbie the Doula! I could not have done it without them. I highly highly recommend!

We have delivered 3 babies with the wonderful ladies of GBC and we have loved each beautiful experience. Each time, we received personalized care that was never rushed and our questions were always answered with kindness and understanding. The midwives are so knowledgeable and supportive and are very engaged in your care and your journey. GBC is absolutely wonderful and we are so grateful for our experiences.

Empowering. Peaceful. Healing. Just a few words that describe my experience at GBC. My first pregnancy was rough from the beginning with high blood pressure, bleeding, and little to no genuine support from my OB-GYN. I was told all I could do was monitor, that there was no research supporting supplements, and it ended in an early induction with magnesium and blood pressure medication. Fast forward to my second pregnancy. I knew I wanted a different experience and was willing to do what needed to be done to have a healthy pregnancy. All that was missing was genuine guidance, and so I found GBC. From the beginning, I was met with excitement, encouragement, and many more resources than I could have imagined. The intentionality of checking my past bloodwork and comparing it to my new meant so much to me, the books recommended were valuable resources, and the midwives exuded such a confidence that it was contagious. My birth story was profoundly different this time and it left me feeling empowered. Going home 3 hours after birth was a huge plus as well. Simply put, I highly recommend Grapevine Birthing Center! ❤️

Nothing but good things to say about the midwives at GBC! Joy and Christina attended my little girl’s birth and I can’t even find the word’s to express how amazing they were and how grateful I am to them. I had some pretty bad tearing and the roads were icy so Ashlyn actually came to my home after my birth for the 2 day check up, I could have cried I was so happy to have her show up at my door! Midwifery is truly a calling and the midwives at GBC really live like that. I wish I could express it better, but I’m just so happy I had the bravery to have my first baby at the birth center, and so grateful to God that he supported me through these amazing women every step of the way 💕

I love this place so much. My first pregnancy and this one were so different all because of this birth center and the midwives. I felt listened to every step of the way, and they answered any questions I had. I was able to have a successful, unmediated vbac. Mu labor and delivery went so great and my birth plan went exactly how I wanted. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Grapevine Birthing Center helped me have a very positive pregnancy and birth experience. All the midwives and the office manager, Kailee, were so kind to me and my husband starting from the first day we toured the center. The midwives took their time with us at our appointments, made sure we were filled with knowledge and answered any questions we had. The center itself is very clean, well taken care of and warm. You feel at home the second you step inside. Our birth was equally as comfortable. The midwives made me feel so safe and comfortable throughout my labor and helped to bring my daughter into this world in such a positive way. We will absolutely be using Grapevine Birthing Center for any future pregnancies we may have.

I had a wonderful maternity experience at the Grapevine Birthing Center. I highly recommend GBC to all pregnant women interested in natural child birth. I was very impressed with their personalized level of service and care. They always went above and beyond to care for me during my pregnancy and facilitated the most beautiful birth experience I could ever ask for, a moment that I will cherish forever. All the midwives are amazing, supportive and sweet. I will miss seeing them and coming to such a positive christian environment that makes you feel good all around. If I could I would give them a 10 + star review. GBC is outstanding. :)

This was the best birth experience I could have hoped for. My first pregnancy & birth was at a very expensive hospital, and despite my ObGyn's emphasis on patient choice, the hospital ended up putting me on the Cascade of Interventions. This second time I was determined to try something different, and the midwives at Grapevine Birthing Center were absolutely wonderful. I had no idea that medical care could be so personal, patient informed, respectful and open to evidence-based treatment. My actual birth was almost a dream. Joy and Christina assisted my birth, and they are incredibly competent and really know birth. My front abdominal core was having issues since my last birth, so my contractions were non-ideal (super painful & not doing much), and when we arrived at the birth center at 2:00 in the morning, these midwives figured out exactly what was going on immediately. They quickly showed my husband how to use counter-pressure on my abdomen during each contraction. So during every contraction my husband would apply counter-pressure to my abdomen as I braced against the wall. This reduced the pain by a factor of 3 (!) and made the contractions much more efficient. Less than 4 hours later I climbed into the warm bath (which reduced the pain by 90%!) to push out my beautiful 8.5 lb daughter in 16 minutes, with minimal tearing. This is an absolute contrast to the horrifying delivery I had at the hospital with my previous child, and if I had this baby at the hospital they would probably have had no idea about the counter-pressure technique and given me a C-section. Instead, I had a magical birth with my husband doing half of my labor ♥️. When I pushed our large daughter out in the warm tub (and felt my sitz bones spreading apart and the ring of fire), I remember thinking this can't be real because how come it doesn't hurt that much... I had no idea birth could be so relatively painless and simple. These midwives are extremely competent, they know things doctors and hospital nurses don't. They are everything that I didn't know was possible. And they are kind and absolutely brilliant.

I had my first baby at GBC in feb 2023. Couldn’t have asked for better prenatal care or delivery! They made me feel so confident, comfortable and educated. Birth is so hard but having an amazing support team around you makes all the difference. I loved my midwives and can’t wait for my next baby!
