In just a few months we have watched our 4yr old really embrace his Bushido lessons and could not be more proud of his development. Just recently, he even lead warm ups at the beginning of class. What a confidence boost! We love seeing our son in such a safe, caring, and supportive environment and appreciate the virtues he is building not only in martial arts, but life as well.

Bushido association invited us for a self defense class with the town queens of lake county. At first we were intimidated but quickly learned respect and appreciation through our class. This class was perfect for our girls of all ages, we had fun and learned useful skills. Being a college student who likes to travel, this class was beneficial for teaching me how to protect myself in a time of need. We will be back soon for another class we had a BLAST!

Knowledgeable best Sensei I ever had, he understand people well and the art of teachings. The dojo is an excellent place, pleasant environment, very good atmosphere for learning. It puts you in your right mindset for learning and practicing Bushido. At the age of 73 years, I would definitely recommend coming here.

I recently had the honor to see one of their events, and I can confidently say that this is a fantastic establishment. It’s good for extracurricular activities, it’s spreads positive influence in terms of culture exposition, and they are overall an awesome facet for the community.

This dojo is the best thing we could have done for our daughter. Not only is the sensai amazing with the kids, he gets to know them and their quirks. The fact that our child went from not wanting to listen in front her pears to now does not have an issue to following direction. The establishment represents everything from the name, the art and the attire. To its sensei and his student helpers. I will recommend to this place anyone wanting to learned the arts of Judo.

My family and I have been coming to Bushido Kyokai for several months and we are hooked. The environment is clean and very family friendly. There is a great sense of discipline here that has reflected in my children and improved their overall performance in school. As an adult it has improved my confidence, increased my level of physical activity and it's nice to know I can defend myself when needed!

I was very unsure at first, but I have been very pleasantly surprised. The community here is wonderful. Every person is so kind, and everyone is very understanding. Sensei is a very nice and pleasant person, talking with him is lovely, so i recommend it if you get the chance. He will accommodate you if you need it. I highly recommend this place, whether you’re unsure or not, new or experienced, even for only a few sessions. Sensei had build a wonderful community that i will never forget.

I was looking for a Japanese martial arts dojo that also taught culture, discipline, and respect. I believe Bushido Kyokai is the right place. The Sensei is firm with the kids, but still let’s them have fun. My child looks forward to going to each practice, and I hope this continues for many years.

I walked by Bushido for over a year before I walked in to watch a class; I was immediately regretful for waiting so long. It involves physical and mental endurance, checking your ego at the door, and the want to grow in all aspects of your life. Bushido is a great place for all athletes or newbies. Its helped with my workouts, mental endurance, and confidence. Please, if you are hesitant or unsure, go in just once to at least to talk to sensei, Sanada. At the very least, you’ll have a better understanding of what you might be missing out on. Best case scenario, you’ll be flying through life with better balance, endurance, and mental outlook.

I highly recommend Bushido Kyokai!! I started here about 8 months ago as a way to do an activity together with my 2 daughters (12 and 9 years old). I thought it would be challenging to practice martial arts in classes in a space where the whole family is together but it actually has been an amazing experience. At the same time fun, fulfilling and instructive. The Sensei is really good with the kids, striking a very good balance in between being restrict and playful. He is also frequently looking to promote fun events where the kids can learn more about Japanese culture, play and make friends. All in all, Bushido Kyokai is a good environment to learn valuable life lessons like honor, respect, self-control and self-defense, while doing a healthy and fulfilling activity.

My son and daughter have been enrolled here for almost 10 months now. The dojo is a beautiful, disciplined, and structured environment. The sensei holds the students to a high standard of practice and etiquette. I’ve been very pleased with our experience here so far.

My wife and I enrolled our son with this Dojo several months ago. From the first free demo class, we have been very impressed with the Sensei’s approach. His patience, and firm lead by presence style of instruction are exactly what my wife and I had in mind for our 6 year old son’s foundational journey into Martial Arts and the Japanese Philosophy of Bushido.

Our son goes there three times a week and it became his routine. I think young kid needs this type of structured learning. What I think benefit him th most was that he learned a lot extra, more than just Bushido itself. Transformation is too big a word here but I felt like he has evolved a lot. He is more respectful, listens more AND he enjoy every minute of it. I feel like it is not just a class, it is more like a community. People help each other and people learn from each other. It is not a classroom but more like a family. I know we will also bring our younger son to join when he is a little older. I highly recommend this place.

Look no further, Bushido Kyokai is the best. Everything from cleanliness of the Dojo to professionalism and skills of the Sensei is outstanding. Sensei Sanada goes above and beyond to teach not only the Martial Art, but also all 7 virtues of Bushido. Couldn’t be more proud of my 9 years old son progress in a very short period of time. Bushido Kyokai keep up with the great work.

I joined to enrich my understanding and appreciation of the Japanese language and culture. With just a few sessions I've learned so much. And on top of that, with the guidance Sensei, I'm continuing to deepen my self confidence and discipline. Everyone that I've met so far in the classes are also super kind and helpful. There's always a sense of comradary, and everyone has a mutual motivation for not only self improvement but also team work building.

I have my both kids going here. The Sensai is very skillful in teaching. Both kids are enjoying martial arts. I would recommend this place for anyone looking for the martial art school for their kids.

I was referred to Bushido a few months ago by a family member and I honestly can say I enjoy seeing my son come back with more confidence after each lesson. Sensei is very knowledgeable and very alert with each student, beyond happy with this martial arts experience!

I enrolled myself and my children (ages 7 and 3) into separate classes. For me, it was to gain self-defense moves in order to be able to protect myself because I often go running by myself. For my 7 and 3 year old children, I want them to gain self-defense skills, confidence, and self-discipline. We have been attending classes for almost a month now (just once/week) and personally, the class is difficult for me and it makes me uncomfortable because I'm not particularly coordinated or strong. While I don't enjoy feeling uncomfortable, I can honestly say I gain confidence each week and everyone is incredibly encouraging and friendly. My children are in a kids class, and they both seem to enjoy the class immensely. I highly recommend Bushido Kyokai to anyone looking to learn self-defense!

I've been a student at Bushido Kyokai for almost a year now and I'm hooked! Whether you're looking to build confidence, learn self defense, embrace the Japanese and Bushido culture, find inner peace, learn multiple forms of martial arts, learn discipline and teamwork, or any combination of these this is the place for you. Sensei is extremely skilled and provides a very positive learning environment for all ages. There are students ranging from as young as 4 to mid 80s. I have my daughter enrolled and she loves every minute of it. She's already made several friends and found her speaking voice in a crowd in addition to all the other benefits. I intend to enroll my son in the near future.

I work at the local high school and was invited by some students to come participate in a class at Bushido Kyokai with them. I enjoyed every minute of the class as did my 14 year old son. I understand why my students speak so highly of their experience here and I highly recommend this for all ages. In one class I took away things on technique, culture, focus, discipline, and the holistic approach to wellness. I appreciate the physical and mental benefits this practice provides as well as the emphasis on mutual respect. The Sensei is incredible. Thank you for the amazing experience!
