Re Edit to one star after owners response Prepare your flashlights to eat here… The first impression you get when you enter here is whether they are open or not… or if they had an electrical issue… but then you realize it’s the way it is over there. My three stars are for the service. We were lucky and met a lovely waitress. Other than that… I think we might have missed out on the buffet (video attached) as it seems everyone was doing it. We decided to go with the menu and see how much of the Japanese was in this place. Not much I tell you. We tried the soft shell crab… tasteless and with a thick breaded coating. The shashimi was decent tho. Other than that, not sure if we will return to try that Mongolian bbq… this place has so much potential but right now it looks like it’s going through some transition time or something… weird atmosphere. Well… now I see what the real problem is here. Owner was fast in response but not in thinking. They obviously don’t care about customer service or customer loyalty. Interestingly enough for a small suburb low quality place that depends so much on the local customers. Good luck to the nice waitress… management obviously doesn’t know how to run their own “business”

I hadn't been here in about 4 years and was beyond saddened to see how much prices have increased and how it is not reflected accurately on their website. I know covid hit everyone hard, but this will no longer be my cheapest go to for good quality food. I wouldn't mind paying the extra price but the quality was poor this time around. I ordered the chow mein noodles with tofu which I had asked to include veggies and all it had was 3 small shiitake mushrooms and a bunch of green pepper which I cannot eat since it makes me sick. The tofu pieces were rubbery and not fresh. There were barely any noodles or a variety of veggies which was what I was looking for. The pieces of tofu and green pepper were so big it overcrowded the rest of the dish. The shrimp fried rice tasted like chemicals because of the way the shrimp was probably processed. The sushi was the only decent part of the entire meal but it was bagged in between two hot containers! Sushi is meant to be served cold and fresh unless it's a cooked one which mine were not. I was extremely disapointed to see poor handling of food that I paid a lot of money for. I wanted to give this location another try since I looked at the menu online and everything seemed to be the same but it has in fact changed a lot which is not reflected accurately. I will not be ordering from here again until conditions improve.

Staff were incredibly friendly, and the food and sushi was very fresh and yummy. Toma our waitress was very helpful and gave us a 20% discount. Will be coming back everytime I want sushi.

This is by far one of the worst meals I've had in my life. I'm sorry, but it was inedible. I've had some of the best tonkotsu ramen and some of the worst tonkotsu ramen. This one is by far the worst. In a league of its own. The Tom Brady of horrific ramen, but I digress. The broth is essentially water with boiled bbq pork from what appears to be a Chinese buffet. I didn't taste anything resembling soy or miso or the lovely boiled ham hocks and chicken backs simmering for 18 hours. Just an oddly red hued flavorless water that looked as bad as it tasted. I wish the picture captured how truly disgustingly red this broth was. The noodles aren't actually ramen noodles, they are more like boxed angel hair pasta. There are about 5 small scallions, and that's it. No egg, no nori, no menma, no fish cake. And this was $16, which is some of the most expensive ramen I've had. Yikes. Seriously run away from this ramen as fast as possible.

I've looked through and seen the main criticisms of this lovely restaurant and the wait time seems to get to people. They aren't wrong, there is a considerable wait, but every roll is hand crafted. It truly is quality worth waiting for. The service was phenomenal and the food was outstanding. It is honestly worth the wait

Food 10/10, I love that they have a free soup and salad bar, interior is beautiful, the service is top tier, I’d love to try the Hibachi next time.

Good was quite good, and the presentation was excellent. Got a sashimi order and four rolls. Fish was fresh and tasty and came with a generous amount of wasabi and ginger. Nice perk was free soup and salad with the meal. Waitress was polite and attentive. Definitely recommended!

Highly recommended! My daughter and I love going to Kawa! We try to go about once a month after they opened back up for dine in. They used to have an all-you-can-eat sushi buffet, but sadly no more. However every roll I've tried here is fresh and delicious. Plus all the fried rice combos are amazing! I always start with the edamame and miso soup and like to try one new specalty roll per visit. Only downfall is there are limited rolls if you have a shellfish allergy or do not like spice. I haven't tried the Mongolian grill but I see many others go and enjoy it. We always leave stuffed and happy after eating here 😁

It was my first time trying this spot out and omg I will definitely be going back. The sushi was amazing in flavor and presentation. We got the California roll, the volcano, the dragon roll, and the spider. The tonkotsu ramen was absolutely delicious as well and was my first time having an authentic Ramen. I was not disappointed and neither will you. The portion sizes are generous and you will not leave hungry, garunteed. We plan on visiting this restaurant again and will recommend to any looking for a new spot to try.

The food was good, the restaurant was pretty quiet, and the wait staff was friendly.

Ok, I'm posting but I'd be amenable to upgrading this score. I'm giving these folks some leeway because they are brand new, don't even have their liquor license yet, and need much more organized service. BUT FOOD was pretty great (when we finally got it). I can see this place having a lot of potential once they get moving. So maybe we as a community can give them some time to get established. I'd love to see the menu options they have stick around! I'll update this after I check back in a while. Worth a shot though! Just ya know...be patient. Service got 3 starts but totally understand the waitress was like on her own and she was nothing but courteous. Just want to see her get some more help that's all. We will try again!

We were a little confused at first because there were two entrances, but chose the one facing Center Street. The food we ordered was quite good. We were a little disappointed with the salad bar because most of the ingredient containers were 97% empty, but the ingredients we were able to get were fresh and tasty. My wife and I both ordered Hibachi. She had the steak and salmon, and I had the chicken and steak. The steak, chicken, and salmon were all quality cuts and cooked perfectly. The veggies were very well seasoned and the fried rice was delicious. It was a great experience overall and my wife and I will be going back soon.

The soft shell crab tempura was not soft shell, and wasn't tempura. Just coated with panko and deep fried. The Mongolian BBQ was horrible. The seafood was stale and tasteless, the veggies were just some leftovers, and the beef was frozen stiff with ice. The sauces (only 6 choices) were all terribly bland. No wonder there was nobody there on a Friday evening. Never going back there.

So sad to find out they're permanently closing. My husband and I loved getting sushi from here. We lived only a few min away so it was so convenient. We often ordered sushi for special occasions like birthdays and Christmas Eve. Will miss it here.

We ordered tonkatsu ramen and it was awful. We ordered this last winter and it was actually pretty good. Something has changed. The broth was an odd bright red color and it did not taste like it was made from scratch. Not sure what’s going on here but we won’t be eating here again.

So sad what this place has turned into. This use to be our favorite place to go for sushi and Mongolian grille. Now it is a horrible experience. All of the lights weren’t even turned on. The waitress but unpleasant and rushing us out and giving us a time frame after we ordered our drinks. The quality of the food isn’t great. Really sad that this use to be such a great place with an awesome atmosphere to somewhere we will never visit again.

ALWAYS a delicious treat, no matter which entre, appetizer or drink is ordered. The wait staff is accurate and quick. The owner is friendly and accommodating. There's a group of regulars that make dinner a great experience. A+++

I’ve been to Kawa many times, and their sushi is pretty good for the price. Especially the eel, the sauce on it really compliments the eel flavor. However, this last time, the rice was not packed well and some of the rolls and every single piece of nigiri, fell apart when i picked it up.

If; could give them 0 stars, I would. What happened? It used to be good. 🤮 It was absolutely HORRIBLE. The pandemic is not an excuse for the way we were treated. When the waitress finally came towards our table, she wouldn't even look at us. The waitress was extremely rude. There was only 1 waitress for the entire place. We had a group of 6. After sitting there for a bit, we all just sat and looked at each other after waiting for her to even take our drink order.. It took 17min for her to even get our drink order!!

I ordered the chicken pad thai and although the flavor was good, I couldn’t understand why the noodles were just swimming in this much oil. I couldn’t eat more than a few bites because of the amount of oil. Paid $15 total bc I added a little tip. I hope they improve on this.
