I currently live in Australia so I always make a point to visit Federal when I'm home in Manchester and it never disappoints. Had the Turkish eggs followed by the toasted banana bread and a (great) strong capp. Jada is absolutely stunning and always warm and goes the extra mile. All the staff are really nice too. Just a great vibe and much needed antipodean goodness in my home city of Manchester. Thanks Federal 🔥🙌🏾

Usually we enjoy going to federal. On this occasion the French Toast let it down. It definitely has changed over the last couple of months and isn't the same standard for Federal. Apart from that drinks and service was on point as usual.

It’s a cafe chain store in Manchester which offers good price breakfasts, brunches and coffee. Staffs were super nice, we just walked in and made note on the wait list. Luckily the table was ready in around 15 mins. My friend and I love the steak sandwiches very much! Imagine the juicy and flavorful steaks were covered by crunchy breads, accompanied by pickled onions and a piece of raw spinach. The layers of flavor exploded in your bite. The dessert was a bit too sweet for me but it’s just my personal preference. The only one annoying thing I could point out was the fruit flies in the cafe. Other than that it was indeed a wonderful experience.

Had a gorgeous brunch here this morning - there was a bit of a queue but was totally worth it (and can understand why). The food was delicious, and service was quick & friendly. Especially loved the Turkish style eggs, which I’ve never had before but will definitely be getting again. Also thought it very reasonably priced for central Manchester. It is a fairly small cafe, so would recommend going outside of peak brunch time to avoid queuing - but service was fast so the queue was moving.

I’ve been meaning to visit Federal for so long, and it definitely lives up to the hype. The maple syrup, banana & pecan porridge was so delicious. The staff was very friendly too.

It's such a nice place to have a breakfast, hot chocolate tastes amazing. I ordered Turkish egg 8/10 because egg was cold. French Toast 10/10 so delicious. Would definitely recommend

Vanilla Latte and an English breakfast tea at 5.30pm. We were made very welcome here in spite of the fact that it was 30 minutes from closing time. The coffee was delicious, smooth and velvety, served in the correct proportions, with good latte art and the loose leafed tea was tasty and hot. There were a range of cakes at the counter and assorted snack food options. The style is industrial contemporary with brick walls and surface mount electrical fixings. The music, quiet and chilled allowing conversation. Relatively small in a corridor format with about 30 covers but tightly packed. Toilets were super clean but the broken seat spoiled it slightly. Will definitely go back.

We got our Manchester based eating underway yesterday afternoon at Federal, and what a festive infused pleasure it was!! 🎅🏼 We decided to share a couple of sandwiches, and I’m not gonna lie - after eating the first half of the Festive one it was very very hard to hand it over! 😂 (Turkey, Chestnut & Sage Stuffing, Melted Brie & Cranberry Sauce!! WOW, WOW, WOW!! ❤️) Luckily for us… the Steak Sarnie was also a bit of stunner!! If you know Manchester at all, you’ll probably already know what a gem Federal is… but if you don’t it’s a New Zealand themed eatery/cafe renowned for its brunches, coffee, super cool staff and laid back atmosphere!! They also do cocktails at 2 for £12, espresso martini and mimosa in shot!! 🍸 Our fave things: That Xmas sarnie 🤤 and the friendly, chatty team!! 👏🏻 📍🚇| A 5/10 min walk from Deansgate Tram and Train Stations

We came here on a Sunday morning at around 10ish and there was already a 20min wait for a table, next time I'll arrive a bit earlier! Having said that it was well worth the wait, the decor, atmosphere and service were all brilliant. And the food was amazing, I had the Turkish eggs and my partner the mushrooms and halloumi. The banana bread was something really special, and the macapone spread it came with was so so good. The coffee is also really nice as well. Its dog friendly.

Is it worth the wait in those long line? Probably. I had time one Saturday morning and can't say I regret it. The food was deliciously tasty and good value for the price. The staff are all friendly and helpful. And the atmosphere feels great for a brunch spot to enjoy a nice meal alone or with friends. I think the only problem they have is that it's too popular a place but isn't that why your reading this anyway.

It was nice and comfort restaurant, the vibe was good, very chill. Have a wonderful and lovely brunch here. Always have a long queue outside the restaurant. Luckily, we waited for 15mins around this time in Saturday. The coffee here was good and I love the French toast most. The toast was soft and the strawberries was sweet and fresh.

Best coffee place in the area. The baristas are professionals and the coffee is always on point and looks amazing. Also they open up at 8 am which is also so good. I tried the French toast too and it was very yummy and filling. Highly recommend this little gem, check it out and get addicted to it.

Had a French toast and a hot caramel latte this morning. Was charged full price although they are in the "eat out to help out" programme. Nevertheless, the service was awesome!

The place is popular as the food is great. So better get there as early as possible to avoid waiting for long. If you're in a big group, might not be a great idea.. their tables are small for 2 and 4.. So if you're a party of 2-4 easier and faster to get a place. Food is superb. Drinks are so-so. We had the juice and also matcha latte (quite diluted). The Halloumi and Schooms set was wonderful, as well as the Eggs Benedict. Highly recommended. Will come here when we are in Manchester next!

Small quaint cafe with no reservations, walk-in only due to the size. No queue when I went for breakfast. Whenever I see fresh squeezed OJ- gotta go for it, in addition the avocado and poached eggs on sourdough bread was delicious. Went alone this trip but they do have larger tables for bigger groups. Cheers

Lovely staff and service. We queued in the rain to get a seat here because it was that popular!! It was absolutely worth it. I recommend getting the French toast, you won’t regret it. So delicious! 😋

One of the best places for Breakfast in all of Manchester. Cosy atmosphere, with fantastic staff, always so welcoming and helpful. The Turkish eggs are amazing and the chai is one of the best I've had. Love going and if there's a queue just wait, it's worth it.

The place is cozy and well organized, i ordered a brownie with hit chocolate, it tasted delicious. They accept cash and card unlike most places around here that no longer accepts cash. The staff are friendly and well presented, keep up the good work

A very popular spot for a Sunday brunch with superb coffee and well designed brunch dishes. Be sure to come early to beat the queues, however they do offer a waiting list if you’re happy to kill a few minutes beforehand.

  • 4/5 Jeff B. 2 years ago on Google
Great place for brunch, but their food can be a bit on the sweet side. The eggs beidict is great, but the French toast will probably be a bit too sweet for most people.

We popped in early afternoon for some brunch, it was our first time trying Federal Cafe Bar. We ordered the French toast and the Halloumi & Shrooms with some coffee. The food was lovely, the sauce on the toast was spicy and tangy, it was definitely the highlight of that dish. The french toast was delicious as well, it was the perfect portion for one. They served good coffee too(I had the cappuccino) however we were slightly disappointed that we were unable to sample the batch brew as the machine was broken on the day we dined there. The atmosphere of the cafe was very nice and cozy, service was great too. All in all it is a safe brunch option that serves good food and coffee. They serve typical brunch foods with brunch prices. The only thing to look out for is the size of the cafe. It is slightly small so it would not be ideal for large groups of people or those with large luggage bags. Another thing to keep in mind is that the cafe is walk-ins only.

I don’t usually write reviews here but the staff here was just outstanding that I have to. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming, they even gave small hot chocolate for the people queuing outside (it was around 1° when I went there). Elite staff really! And of course the food was delicious, even the porridge I got was great! I’ll certainly come back once I visit Manchester again.

First of all expect to queue up to this place regardless of the weather so if you're planning on going make sure to grab an umbrella as you'll need it. Also be prepared to see people completely ignoring the line of 10+ people standing and walk up to the door asking for a table just to be told to queue up. But I would say for our occasion we only waited about 10-15 minutes and was promptly seated. The food, I mean the pictures sell itself the french toast was mine and the berries, the sauce, the toast and the mascarpone cream was absolutely perfect and really worked well together definitely the best french toast I've had. My fiance's eggs benedict with smashed avocado was perfect too, everything on this menu looked amazing and I'm sure everything is equally as nice as eachother. Having Milo on the menu is also such a unique thing to do and I definitely wasn't expecting to see it so I had to get it, was amazing. This is one of those few places that you see online trending that is actually good and not just fake hype.

Federal is the best brunch spot in Manchester! The food is delicious, and the menu has a variety of options to choose from. The cozy ambiance and friendly staff make it a great place to start your day. Prices are reasonable, making it a top choice for a satisfying brunch experience. The coffee is great as well.

The best brunch spot in Manchester, visited the Deansgate store a couple of months ago. Always a long queue after 12:00, so better get up early! The french toast is definitely a to-order dish, the steak and eggs as well.

Very welcoming atmosphere from the staff followed by a great spread of breakfast choices and coffee. Returned the following day with a staggered group arrival; the team were observant to assist in merging tables and getting our food out together. Looking forward to returning and will pick up a can of Milo next time!

Fantastic food every time decent coffee but most importantly the very best service. We visit Federal at least once a week and always enjoy it. Always created with a smile usually by Kate who makes the whole federal experience even better. If the owner reads these comments tell him to give her a raise as she is an exceptional asset to the company.

This bustling city little brunch spot is located on Deansgate and perfect for a post night out scran. On arrival I was greeted by a friendly server, Kate who helped find me a table. I didn’t have to wait long and staff kept me informed about the wait which was about 5 mins. While I waited I sat on the cute benches outside and watched the world go by. I was seated at a nice little table next to the bar. My order was taken very quickly, I went for their steak sandwich and a iced coffee. While I was waiting the table next to mine got their French toast and I was immediately jealous because they looked AMAZING! I’ll have to try those next time haha My drink came quickly and was delicious. Their coffee is very smooth and flavourful. My sandwich came and it looked fantastic. Good amount of pink steak and a tasty caramelised onion.I usually ask for extra mayo but it had just the right amount. I think my fav thing about this visit is the atmosphere. It has a really good vibe, all the staff seemed happy and it just had a great buzz around the place. Kate, my waitress was fantastic! They have a nice little selection of cakes and pastries but I was too full!

Cozy place with a right amount of busy for Sunday morning breakfast. Didn’t want anything on the menu so I ordered an easy avo and bagel meal. I got a good amount of mashed avocado and it tasted fresh. The Jock’s hot sauce was a hit (and I bought one to go)👌🏾🔥. The front of house staff were very welcoming and delightful! Sadly they don’t offer beans on their menu.

Best brunch spot in manchester! All staffs were very very friendly and helpful! Amazingly delicious French toast and egg benedict, these are my go-to whenever i go to federal! Their steak and egg is very good too but a bit pricy for brunch. This cafe never disappoints, and base on my experience, deansgate branch tastes better than the one close to nq!

  • 5/5 Aleksandra D. 10 months ago on Google
Food is great. All ingredients are fresh and the taste is amazing. Small, cozy little place. Well worth the short wait for a table!

Possibly the best breakfast cafe in the Deansgate area! I like their industrial style decoration, it is so on theme with Manchester's history. The food, coffee and services are all top notch, and I feel very welcome as a guest. Do try their steak sandwich. Recommended.

Brilliant place and cracking food. The digital menu is great too because you can add all sorts and customise any meal or drink. We went for brunch and had to wait 30 mins or so but definitely worth it! Just shows it’s such a popular place for a good reason! Staff were so friendly too, really chill place but quick service.

Visited based on high recommendations from friends and it did not disappoint. We were lucky to get in after a 2-minute wait. The Cheddar Corn Fritters is a must-have! Creative, fresh and yummy dish. We also had the Eggs Benedict and the French Toast with were also really good. The service was also pretty good. Absolutely recommend.

  • 5/5 Ubsey R. 1 year ago on Google
Or arrival, this place looked busy. We were greeted by a lovely friendly staff member, young lady who seated us as soon as a table was made available. Menu is nice and simple. Very easy to navigate around. Which we liked a lot. We ordered the Turkish eggs, French toast, dirty chai and a flat white. The food came about 10-12 mins later. The eggs were poached satisfactorily. The French toast, was to die for! By far the best French toast I've had. The syrup at the bottom was distinctive (had something else mixed with is) yet flavoursome. It was a really lovely brunch. The dirty chai, again lovey. The flat white, I found a bit too strong, bit of a harsh taste to it, i usually have a smoother coffee ( but this will vary person to person depending on you own palate). All I can say is, if you visit here, you will definitely be pleased.

  • 5/5 Rhys C. 1 year ago on Google
Lovely little brunch spot, don’t let the queues and wait time tune you off it’s well worth it. I had steak and eggs with a batch filter and a Bloody Mary. Steak was cooked perfectly and the sauce was delicious. Coffees were tasty and Bloody Mary hit the spot. Can’t remember what my partner had but it was also delicious. Offers on the cocktails. Really enjoyed

Amazing brunch place. We stayed 4 days in Manchester and went there everyday for breakfast. First of all because they cater for gluten allergy (got everything gluten free) and secondly the food was the bomb. Also the coffee is really good. Highly recommended!

This is a typical brunch cafe. The food is good and the staff are very nice. They have a couple of vegetarian options, at least one vegan and also gluten-free dishes. Some dishes are a bit spicy so be careful if you don't like it. It costs around 10-15£/person.

I usually have a French toast which is amazing in my opinion. However, today I went for Steak and Eggs and what a chewy disappointment that was! Eggs also were burned at the bottom. If it wouldn't be for French Toast I'd never come back. It's a nice place, so I hope they improve for the sake of other customers.
