A huge cinema in the heart of Portsmouth. Lots of seats and all are very comfortable recliner leather seats. Ticket prices are based on where you sit in 3 different options starting at £7.95. Food and drink are very expensive and take lots of time to obtain. I personally recommend buying tickets online and collecting from one of the automated ticket booths. Also bring your snacks.

Great cinema with 14 screens to choose from. At the time of this review we went to see James bond film No Time To Die absolutely brilliant film. Quite expensive for food popcorn and a large coke £10.00. But on the plus side it cost only £11.76 for two to get in. Set within gun wharf which in it self is well worth a visit with lots of shops and restaurants to choose from.

The seating is extraordinary. Each seat is a recliner and a very comfortable one with a tray for each seat to hold your things, and the arm rests are also wide. People next to each other can use the armrest together as they are wide enough, I wish every cinema has it. The screen size is also satisfactory. Only thing that I didn't like is the sound quality. I felt that the acoustics could have been better. The sound was not pleasant as it was reflecting off of the surface and we could feel that. To give them credit, the price of a movie here is a little cheaper than at other places.

Excellent reclining seats and tables. No imax or 4d this would make it the perfect movie venue. Concession stand, clean toilets and clean screen rooms. Discounted validated parking as well.

Watched Minions - The Rise of Gru - with my family. The cinema was clean and tidy, along with the screen itself, and the staff friendly and helpful. The seats were really comfortable (just the normal ones) so that was a plus - and the screen and sound were good as well.

No ticket machines working in entrance area but, after queuing, person at counter was helpful. Damaged VIP seat I had last visit was taken out of use showing response to problem, BUT was available to online book so could have been a potential problem in a full screen. Good room temperature and staff (for some shows) do actually come in occasionally, without prompting, to check no audience problems or disruptions

Great cinema, great choice of movies on at anyone time. Fabulous reclining seats and plenty of choice of snacks, although I did nearly pass out at £13 for popcorn and smallest sized soda, but then that is all part of the experience. Staff are very friendly and very helpful making sure we got tickets quickly enough to catch our movie as we were running late due to traffic.

Great cinema experience, the recliner seats are super comfy and kids sat comfortably. Little movable tables for snacks and drinks, so everyone was happy. Plenty of staff around all very friendly and helpful which made the purchase of tickets and snacks very quick.

Small theatre, but I guess that's just the standard for theatres in smaller cities. Really comfortable recliner seats tho and watching experience was good too! Don't get food from the cinema tho - really not good for the price that is charged. Overall decent theatre, you could give it a shot!

Film was good quality and quick to get into with the prepaid booking. The price was very reasonable. There was rather long queues for snacks so I'd advise allowing extra time for this however all together a good experience

Great new recliner chairs. Everything else is starting to look tatty despite many refurbishments. Ladies loos are really getting grim. But good price and reduce parking cost is fab. Although not long enough if its a long film and you want food.

Went back to Vue for the first time in about 8 years because it was so poor back then, this has recently had a revamp, and the seats are much better than I remember, however, unfortunately this is where the good stuff ends. The front desk staff, were inept, after messing up my order, i had the privilege of a member of staff putting my condiments on the hotdog that was ordered……. She could have put it on with a super soaker, it was everywhere except where it should have been, and the bun it comes in seemed to have left out since 2022, then the popcorn was cold and the sweet option, I can only imagine that the sugar was thrown from ports down hill. The cinema itself is okay, the screen is good, but the sound from the speakers was woeful, there seemed to be no sub woofer and the quality was just lacking, a complete non immersive experience. The member of staff we did tell, genuinely was not bothered in the absolute slightest, I’ll be heading to showcase for my next film because I can’t go through that again.

Great new reclining chairs and drinks holder, leather seats so be aware may stick to seat it wearing shorts. I went with a friend and there Were only four other people there, this was a Sunday afternoon. Nice and quiet for a new film.

Great place. Nice, comfy recliners, your own food and drinks tray. No fighting over arm rests. Your own space means no kicking of the back of your chair and no heads covering your view. The food, although still pricey cinema food, actually tastes great I like it, kids love it. Parking is also cheap when you get your ticket validated. Although it costs a little more more, it proves that people are actually willing to pay more for a great cinema experience.

The seats are all comfy recliners with lots of leg space and room. No need to trample over or squeeze past people when exiting the isle which is nice. The price is excellent for the quality of the rooms/seats! Nice snacks and refreshments too. The only issue I found was the disabled toilet, it was unfortunately very unclean. The other toilets were fine though and all conveniently located near the exits if you need to pop out during a film. We will definitely be returning 😊

Went today for the first time in years. The new seats are AMAZING!! super comfy, they have a small table attached to each one which can swivel in front of you, also you can recline your legs up!! We went during in school times so it was quiet. The toilets were clean and service was quick. When the films finished you can ask them to discount the parking, by showing them your ticket.

Overall very nice cinema with adequate facilities and the added bonus of recliner chairs. Loses a star due to consistently only having one set of toilets open with the other being closed with metal gates up. This means that after a particularly full screen finishes the showing there is often queues for a while to use the toilets. As with most cinemas, the prices of popcorn etc is pricey but you pay a premium for warm popcorn and convenience. Great addition to the Gunwharf shopping complex and surrounding areas.

Proper multiplex cinema, the kind that don't seem to be getting built any more. Enables a diverse range of films to be shown. Seats are spacious and comfy and tickets are reasonably priced.

Great cinema in a super location. The new pricing means that going to the cinema is much more affordable for a family. Roughly £5 per head. Comfy seats, clean & tidy and great staff too. What's not to like?

Shockingly bad picture and sound. The image was around half the size it should have been, the top was cropped off the top of the screen, it was massively out of focus, there were lights shining on the screen, and the sound was very quiet and poor quality. I complained multiple times and was fobbed off to start with, but then it became clear that management were aware of the problem, but still selling tickets anyway, presumably hoping people wouldn't notice. Apparently it will take days to get a Sony engineer or two fix the problems. I suspect if a popcorn machine broke down it would be fixed in ten minutes.

Good cinema, mixture of screen sizes, the recliner seats are very comply, my complaints are that main toilets have been out of order for weeks and no sign of getting fixed any time soon. Also parking validation is only for up to 4 hours, that's okay if you going to a short film but most of them I go to are around 3 hour mark, if you get there early and queue for food watch a 3 hour film then queue up to get the ticket validated can push you over the 4 hours, then you have to pay full price and it's stupidly expensive. Also parking validation doesn't always work.

Haven't been to the cinema for a very long time. So went to Vue in Gunwharf. Didn't realise they have upgraded their seats to reclining seats. It was very comfortable and spacious. A small table which can be tuned towards you was very good as well. The screen that I went to was also very clean and today. Excellent for watching films that have times its 2 hours or more! Very good experience. This was a good surprise and thanks Vue for the excellent upgrade.

The atmosphere was great. Easy to buy ticket from counter and its very cheap. Only problem is you have to watch 25 minute advertisements before movie start. Therefore entering 20 min later from show time is best 😄

Prices have increased but the seating in there now is incredible, large comfy chairs with plenty of room, a swivel lap tray and fully reclinable via a button on the side. What let's Vue down is the pricing of their food and drinks, better to take your own with you

Recently installed reclining seats. Comfy and lots of leg room brilliant. If they could just stop you from having to queue to buy a coke and then go queue again to fill the empty cup your given at the counter

The new seats are brilliant! Reclining seats for about £10. Far more comfortable especially on the long films. The toilets still need work but it's one of the best cinemas around. We drive there rather than use our local as its a lot cheaper, sound quality is better and where else can you watch a film and then check out super yachts?

Went here yesterday to see film. Lovely and clean, great seats. My only complaint is having to join coffee/food queues to purchase tickets. Where's the box office???

  • 4/5 Thom C. 2 years ago on Google
Large cinema, very clean and good comfy seats. Tickets are decently priced but as usual in all cinemas the food is expensive. The new paper straws are terrible for the tango ice blasts and melt into sloppy paper mush within about a minute. So bring your own metal/plastic straws if I were you.

This cinema is definitely showing its age now and it's getting pretty tired (the site is 2 decades old now). Specifically the seating with some of the "premium" seats having rips and tears and generally being pretty uncomfortable. However, it's reasonable prices and location makes it an easy choice for anyone living in or near the city.

Went to watch Matrix Resurrection with friend's and even though it was in one of the smaller screens the experience was brilliant. Sat mid way up the auditorium which was the perfect position to watch the movie, the sound was amazing and with vibrations coming through the seats it makes you feel everything as well as watching it.... awesome.

The staff at the counter were friendly but I'll be honest the cinema is needing a little tlc and refurbishment let alone a clean. I went to see morbius on Tuesday 5th April 2022 at 3pm. I was in seat L10 of screen 5. The aisle I was in had not been cleaned since the last movie with rubbish on the floor and leftover popcorn on both my seat and the other seats in my row (as seen in the photos) Also I noticed the row in front had at least 1 seat that is in dire need of repair (see photo) the row in front is a premium seat row in which you have to pay more for a little extra leg room and a leather seat. Had I paid extra and found my chair like this I would have been severely upset. The plus side I guess is that the viewing of morbius I saw was quite empty so I could have moved seats if needed but had this been a fully booked viewing it would have been a case of leaving and asking for a refund if possible or just putting up with it. I know the cinema industry has been hit hard by COVID like other businesses and also have the issues of streaming services like Disney plus, amazon and Netflix to combat with but considering Vue Portsmouth is situated in a premium shopping outlet (Gunwhatf Quays) I guess I was just expecting more... If screen 5 is in this state I can only hope the other 13 screens are in better condition. As for the movie viewing itself. The picture quality was good, the screen size was good and the sound quality was good as well.

Ticket prices are good, especially compared to 5 years ago. Drinks and snacks are pricey, but to be expected at the cinema. Recommend you bring your own. Screens themselves are decent quality, can't complain about the viewing experience. Staff member we had was very friendly, sadly cannot remember his name.
