I have never written a review for a doctor before, but my daughter and I had such a bad experience with Dr. Santa Maria, that I felt I needed to post this. First off, let me say that his staff was very friendly and professional. It was just Dr. Santa Maria that we had problems with. I was disappointed in his decision to not diagnose my daughter with high-functioning ASD, as his reasons for denying the diagnosis were either not based on diagnostic criteria or not based on facts. He also reached this decision after spending a total of about 30 minutes with her. The minimal testing his staff (not Dr. Santa Maria) did with my daughter was academically based, which was not at all my area of concern. There was very little testing done in the areas of my concern. I was also disappointed in the way we were treated when he discussed his decision to not diagnose. When I tried to further explain the situation or my concerns, he would not listen to me and cut me off. He admitted to not contacting counselors or teachers that have personally worked with my daughter, as he felt it was ā€œnot necessaryā€. He accused me of ā€œshopping aroundā€ to get the diagnosis I wanted, instead of recognizing that I am simply a mother that wants to help her daughter succeed in life. My impression was that he had already determined to deny the diagnosis before my daughter and I ever entered his office. When it became apparent that he was not going to truly listen to me, we got up to leave. He shouted several comments after us as we walked down the hall on our way out. It was the most unprofessional doctorā€™s appointment I have ever been at. He did not say one sympathetic or encouraging comment during our entire visit; rather, he seemed to be trying to make me feel badly about pursuing a diagnosis. My daughter left his office in tears - truly a terrible experience for her. I have wasted almost a year of valuable time looking for someone to do an evaluation, and then waiting for an appointment. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone. Added after Dr. Santa Maria left a response - Dr. Santa Maria - you are incorrect in saying she had multiple prior evaluations. There was one prior evaluation, and it was three years prior. Her behavior has become more and more concerning over the years, which led us to you for a second evaluation. I was not looking for a "rubber stamp" on a "parent diagnosis". I was truly looking for some reasonable answers to my concerns. Unfortunately, your incomplete assessment and rude treatment of us left no doubt in my mind that we can safely discount your opinion.

I was diagnosed with level 1 autism by a very thorough doctor and a psychologist who specializes in Spectrum Disorders when I was 23. Seven years later, I am looking for assistance in independent living due to terrible executive function. The OPWDD referred us to Dr. Santa Maria for a re-evaluation. The first meeting was HIGHLY uncomfortable and the doctor often waved off information given. It was incredibly brief and not at all thorough. Nothing was asked about sensory issues or my developmental history at all. The second visit for testing was also 1/4th the time I spent with my first doctor where I was tested for memory, attention to detail, attention, and pattern recognition (most of which are high in autistic individuals such as myself.) My mother reports filling out surveys of my developmental abilities, but I was not asked about these - the only psychological evaluation I was given was for depression. Despite my developmental scores being in the fourth pecentile, Dr. Santa Maria determined that because I had managed to make a handful of friends in my life (most of whom were made for me), learned to mask as to avoid bullying, and had a high IQ, I couldn't POSSIBLY be on a SPECTRUM of a disorder that has made my life incredibly difficult. Thanks to him, I will not receive the help I need because he somehow believes that high-functioning autism doesn't exist. I desperately need help managing my executive functioning, and I will receive none, continuing to be drastically behind my peers. Side note: for an office that evaluates autistic folx, your music is incredibly loud. Edit in response to Dr. Santa Maria's response: My mother was 100% in agreement with Dr. Parrish's original diagnosis in 2014 that I had ASD. In fact, she noticed most of the symptoms before I did and encouraged me to get my diagnosis. I find it hard to believe that someone who watched me grow up with massive social and executive functioning problems would have reported anything differently than she did on the original assessment that secured my diagnosis. I DON'T find it hard to believe that a dismissive doctor with a gigantic ego would deflect onto literally anyone else ratger than accept responsibility. I mean, read all of his other responses for reviews and you'll see what I mean. His attitude is absolutely arrogant and dismissive. Absolutely no compassion for his patients or remorse for depriving them of necessary supports. He seems to be completely unwilling to own up for his shortcomings and will not take any responsibility for his failures. Absolutely heed the negative reviews. We're all saying the same thing, so the truth of the matter is clear: Dr. Santa Maria is beyond arrogant and makes misdiagnoses like crazy. He has, at best, very outdated ideas and needs to take a few continuing education courses. At worst, he simply doesn't care about his patients or their needs, and just is in his line of work because it pays well. What he forgets is while he may have studied for years on conditions he doesn't have, he doesn't have to live with them and doesn't have nearly the decades of experience as some of his patients do. I've had autism longer than you were in school, sir. DO NOT GO HERE if you don't want medical gaslighting and if you genuinely need supports.

I want to start off by saying that I have never written a Doctor review before. I went in with an open mindset and came out in disbelief. His staff was very polite and kind, however my initial meeting with Dr. Santa Maria was interesting to say the least. He spent a total of 30 minutes with me before and after testing. To preface, testing was not done by a doctor. I noticed that during the 8 hr testing not one observational note was made about my physical behavior and attentiveness during the tests. I am a healthcare provider, and it is imperative that we pay attention to body language and attentiveness when evaluating a child/adult and not just the standardized results. I openly discussed difficulties I have been facing that correlated with attention deficits. Within 10 minutes of meeting Dr. Santa Maria, I knew he already had his mind made up about my diagnosis. His condescending and arrogant tone was very unprofessional. He rudely interrupted me multiple times. He repeatedly blamed my anxiety for all of my symptoms even before testing. I was astounded by his lack of empathy. After telling him my concerns and experiences, he said that because I had good grades in high school and college that it was unlikely I had ADD. I would not recommend Dr. Santa Maria to anyone. Please read the reviews before going.

Please take heed to the negative reviews. I sought out a specialist in order for a comprehensive exam/diagnosis, specifically for Autism. While the staff was friendly and I completed the 5-6 hour testing, I saw the doctor for a total of about ten minutes the first day. I was unable to ask all questions and I had a list of multiple things I wanted to discuss. Upon my return for the review (another ten minute appointment), Dr. Santa Maria was incredibly dismissive and condescending. We were still not able to discuss my concerns, and I was told I could not be on the spectrum because I hold a job and live alone. Apparently all people on the spectrum need aides, according to him, and can't function otherwise. He also seems to be confused about the difference of PTSD and CPTSD. Completely out of touch with today's definitions and unwilling to hear you on anything. Now, top that with I called ahead to get codes so I can get prices from my insurance to budget this visit. I was given not all the codes, and not told there would be multiple units of each code. This made the bill 4 times higher than what it should have been. Staff is unwilling to change the bill even though it was their misinformation.

I usually don't write lengthy reviews, but my experience here is worth the exemption. For context, I was going in seeking answers. I have a history of attention & mood problems and a family history of ADHD, Autism, and OCD, so it was safe to assume my symptoms were linked to something along those lines. I'm already diagnosed with major depressive disorder. To start with the positive, the staff was very friendly! Both the lady at the front desk and the staff member that conducted my testing were very kindly and sociable. Now for the negatives. Please heed the reviews you see on here and elsewhere... To start, the testing was mostly memory recall and an IQ test. I understand this is necessary for some forms of ADHD/ASD/OCD, but I've never really had a problem academically. This will become important later. One of the tests was naming pictures...and one of them was a noose. Don't send anyone here here if that's a trigger for them. During my testing, I noticed no observational notes were taken about my physical behaviors and the way I answered questions. People with some of these disorders are very good at pattern recognition, and most of my vocal answers were usually grouped by category. I was fidgety and zoned in and out a lot. None of this was noted. I never saw the doctor during this testing, just for a brief 15 conversation where we discussed symptoms. He continuously went back to how I wasn't punished in school for fidgetiness and that I had good grades. This, once again, will be important later. I also gave him a list of symptoms I had that I had researched personally and concluded to be symptoms of either of these disorders. Upon coming back today to hear my results, I was greeted with a not so unexpected surprise based on these reviews. He said since I was smart, did well in school, and had depression, I couldn't possibly have ADHD, Autism, or OCD. When I tried to retell my symptoms, I was simply ignored and told, "People in America are all different and work in different ways! That's what is great about here." and, "You performed above average on these tests, you're very smart, nothing here suggests you have ADHD or Autism." He insisted that the data from his tests is all he needed to diagnose me, and then blamed my depression for some of my attention deficit problems. He had also accused me of being a pill chaser in a not so subtle way. When I came in saying I was looking for answers, the first thing he said to me was, "Well, I cannot use this data to give you medication," instead of any form of empathy. I don't really care to get medication, I just wanted to know what was wrong, y'know? The lack of regard for how a SPECTRUM disorder works is absolutely astounding. I've taken various tests online (RAADS-R and tests of that nature) and have come back with above average scores for autism and/or ADHD. The fact he couldn't look at some of my glaringly obvious symptoms and say the same...outrageous. I will be seeking a second opinion, and if you come here, I would seek another one too. Update after his reply: If he really looked at his data, he'd notice I marked off several answers in his 400+ question multiple choice questionnaire that would imply I have kleptomania. This wasn't brought up when I came in for my results.

I was evaluated for autism spectrum disorder by Dr. Santa Maria and his team last month (June 2021). When I spoke with his staff, they were kind, friendly, and considerate to my needs and the needs of my mother. However, Dr. Santa Maria himself was anything but. He did not respect us and our opinions, he spoke over us, and acted as if his opinion was the only correct one. When we spoke, he said that heā€™d determined that I did not meet the criteria for autism; he only saw symptoms of anxiety and depression. Iā€™d already been diagnosed with those, so I was not surprised, but when we brought up many of my autistic symptoms (stimming, intense interests, inappropriate social interactions, repetition in various aspects of life, etc.), he brushed us off and refused to even acknowledge the possibility that his previous assumption was anything but accurate. As a teacher of over 20 years, my mother has lots of experience with kids, and when she noticed that my behavior was deviant, she started to do lots of research to determine whether I would qualify for an ASD diagnosis. I realize that she is not trained in neuropsychology or the like, but she knows me infinitely better than Dr. Santa Maria could ever hope to do simply by analyzing my personality and behaviors from an outsiderā€™s perspective. Another thing that left me in tears after meeting with Dr. Santa Maria was his lack of empathy. One of the reasons why I want to join the medical field is so that I can help others. Being empathetic to the needs of your patients is an essential aspect of being in this field. However, we did not witness anything like that during our meeting with the doctor. He left us with the impression that he just wanted to be done talking to us and leave for the day. He did not seem to care about our circumstances, struggles, or needs. To anyone reading this who is considering getting evaluated for autism with Dr. Santa Maria, I would advise you to look elsewhere if at all possible. It will save you lots of time and frustration.

I am not posting under my real name for fear of retaliation- if you are an adult woman DO NOT SEE DR. SANTA MARIA! He has quite literally set back my mental health healing by months. I have never felt so dismissed in all my life. My therapist and psychiatrist agreed that I needed ADHD testing and sent me for a neuropsychological exam with Dr. Santa Maria. I waited for months for an appt and had spent years playing antidepressant roulette with nothing helping my varying diagnoses of anxiety, depression, or bipolar from different providers. I spent probably 6 hours total at the office doing all the tests, and a mere FIFTEEN MINUTES with Dr. Santa Maria. In that time he only wanted to talk about how I was as a child. I kept trying to bring up my current functioning and he redirected back to my childhood, and the fact that my grades in school were fine. He said he disagreed with my diagnosis of bipolar and said I had medication-resistant major depressive disorder and my attention and focus issues could be attributed to being a ā€œstressed out mom.ā€ When I mentioned that both my mother and brother are diagnosed with ADHD, he stated there was no way I could have it because I did well in school. What year is it?? 1993?? When my therapist received the report, she was furious. She said he is strictly using the DSM criteria developed in the 1980s based on adolescent and teenage boys who couldnā€™t sit still in class and SO MUCH further research has been done since then for ADHD and autism that girls and women present differently. She encouraged me to seek a second opinion from another psychologist. I have been trying for weeks now since my appointment and NO ONE WILL SEE ME!! Dr. Santa Maria is apparently so well-respected in the community that as soon as I mentioned I had an exam with him they said it was bad practice to see someone else within a year and that they trusted his assessment. So a second opinion in the area is out of the question! I had to go to Syracuse to find a doctor who would do another ADHD assessment and couldnā€™t get an appointment for 6 months from now. So I implore you, please do not see this man for an assessment if you are an adult woman!!! Clearly his methods and means of diagnosis are woefully outdated and he either needs to retire or read the new peer-reviewed research from the last 10+ years.

FYI after I posted my one star review the doctor called me and spent 23 minutes (2x as long as he spent talking to me in the diagnostic appointment) trying to convince me not to remove it. I eventually had to hang up because he would not let me politely end the conversation. Unbelievably unprofessional. Ostensibly he was calling me for feedback to improve his practice but he was very defensive, claimed everyone who had a bad experience and left a negative review was just upset because they didn't get the diagnosis they "wanted" and did a lot of justifying based how long he's been practicing and what organizations he's worked with. I am concerned that by leaving this review he will continue to try and argue with me about my own experience. I felt concerned enough to block his number so he can't continue to contact me.

Please trust the negative reviews. I wish I had. I felt my concerns were ignored, and my experiences belittled. And now, to have Michael respond to my review claiming that I was seeking a specific diagnosis only proves that he was completely unaware of how uncomfortable he made me during our brief time together. I am seeking ways to help my child and not at all a specific diagnosis or label. I posted the review in hopes of helping other people avoid a painful interaction.

I have to start out by saying I didnā€™t even go through with an assessment. I was encouraged by my psych and my therapist to seek an evaluation with a neuropsychologist and in this area there are not a lot of options. I left my initial meeting with the doctor in tears. I had been formally diagnosed with PTSD and he asked me specifically what had caused it. I had to relive those moments with a stranger, who then proceeded to ask me if I was in the military, as if my experiences with SA and a physically abusive parent werenā€™t enough to justify the diagnosis I *already had*. I was expecting someone clinical, but I wanted answers. I never expected to have to explain those events in detail at a first meeting, and then have a professional dismiss them like I was over reacting. I wish I had read the reviews first, because it does seem like he makes up his mind about a lot of whatā€™s going on with you very quickly in his initial assessment. I did seek out other avenues for a diagnosis and treatment. If you are privileged enough to do the same I highly recommend it. The accommodations and medication Iā€™m able to receive now, along with regular therapy and counseling have been instrumental in me getting bits of my life together for the first time. I think it would have gone very differently if I trusted this doctor.

This will be long. I have read the reviews and it seems as though children are his specialty and he is very well liked by parents of young Autistic children. I am a high functioning adult Autistic female. I wanted to go to Rutger's University. They have a program for autism learning disabled and I needed a doctor's statement. I also had a car accident a long time ago and I had a problem with reading and focus afterwords which I was told was PTSD by Hospital. I have also been through a lot of consecutive trauma throughout my life. By the end of the test he came to the conclusion that I wasn't learning disabled (I most definitely am) I'm not autistic, (I most definitely am) and I don't have PTSD (") I feel the days where females in doctors offices not being taken seriously or in some cases mistreated and abused (yes, been through that too but not abused here) are back in full swing. Maybe those days never left. I have been disabled for a while. The system is definitely designed to trap you in it so you can't further yourself. I have the two stars for professional manners and Sunita. The office was very professional. So was the doctor. Sunita was nice although she guided me to answer a particular question in a way I don't think was a good idea. There were no options for me in the question and answers. This also went for certain other questions. Atmosphere was relaxing. Office was nice. I was a nervous wreck but they made me feel comfortable. Parts of the tests were missing (eeg or qeeg, CT) and most of the questions didn't pertain to many of the things even in childhood I dealt with because of my autism. It was very strange. Like it was designed not to pick up on certain characteristics of Autism on purpose. It was also designed for parents of autistic kids not Adult high functioning Autistics. I was accepted into a school for the gifted when I was young, I had a high IQ but it was too expensive so I went to a cheaper relatively new magnet school(which didn't survive for too long) Also, I scored very superior (I didn't know they had that) and superior on parts of my test but graded very low and challenged on others. That would prove I DO have learning problems in certain areas not the opposite. My IQ dropped 40 points, according to the test but yeah I know they claim I don't have a learning disability. I'm going somewhere else for a second opinion. Maybe I can finally get the help I need. If you have a lower functioning Autistic child this would be a good place to go. As an Adult high functioning Autistic female, don't go here. There's even more to this experience but it'd just be too long. Not a horrible place just not good for us older high functioning autistic women who have problems learning.

My 14yr old was having seizures (non epilepsy) so we were in search what could be going on. She already has an autism diagnosis and she already had an IQ test which shows she has 118 with a processing score of 132. She suffers socially. She went through a 4hr test which I later found out was another IQ test. We were interrupted during the test to speak to doctor for about 10min to get back ground information. She went back into the test. When finished we made a follow up appointment to go over results. We saw the doctor for another 19nun only. He told us my daughter was extremely intelligent and she does not have autism. He put in his report that she has factitious disorder. He wouldnā€™t even listen to her and the symptoms she feels. Yes, my daughter has an elaborate vocabulary. She has had about 6 seizures this school year and more test are being done by dent. This so called doctor medically gaslighted her (I believe due to her age and knowledge). She is in the process of being diagnosed that her seizures are caused by stress. When her brain becomes overloaded, her brain throws her into a seizure to reboot. My point here is beware of gaslighting which this doctor does. He made my 14 now 15 yr old feel like she was crazy and also made me feel the same way. I wish I would have seen his reviews before I scheduled the appointment. I was just worried about my daughter and her health

EDIT: case and point to my initial comment/review. You have no right to extend ANYONE'S private information without their consult/permission. It is incredibly unprofessional, and unethical. Furthermore, I did not give any detail to the valid emergency I called ahead of time to report in - I shared transparently an emergency had arose and nothing further (I.E. I did not express regarding family -- the assumption(s) is/are most unwarranted and most lacking truth). I called in this morning as soon as understood office was open (8:00 A.M.) as was afraid office would not have received previous contact and wished to be extra careful/follow through, to receive an automated voice message saying you guys opened at 7:30 A.M. (this is not disclosed on Google), yet did not receive a return phone call until 8:41 A.M. (appointment was at 8:30 A.M.). It was denoted I had an appointment and inquired whether I was showing up, which indicated previous contact informing of emergency had not been heard, so I reiterated that I had made attempt to contact over the weekend - as soon as understood emergency - and that I would not be making it in. Irregardless, the initial comments/points remain -- even more concretely so after the following reply on my own comment/review. (Additionally, Brittany is my legal name and not my preferred name: Elle is my chosen name.) Regards to you. ā€¢ ā€¢ ā€¢ Seems I dodged a big doozy by not being able to attend the neuropsychology exam had scheduled with this practice. The man literally outlines private information to the public; gaslights anyone who disagrees/stands up and against him; and discredits lived experience(s) and identifications that have come to develop more recently due to the advancements being accumulated, by saying his educational background outstands anything else and turns to -- you guessed it -- further gaslighting/manipulative responses/responding that is just tremendously harmful. One, additionally, CANNOT express that I am leaving this review due to not receiving diagnosis(es) that I desired, as I never stepped foot into this practice. One does not need to to witness so many personal experiences/accounts, as well as the behaviors/responses to those so blatantly put out to the public for reference merely in this review section alone.

Let me preface - I've never been to this psychologist. I was looking him up while researching services in my area. However, responding to negative reviews with individuals' full/real names is highly unethical and violates HIPAA. This is a huge red flag.

Thank you to the staff, Office Manager Amy and Dr. Santa Maria for exceptional care from initial calls and inquiry, through assessment and report. All was very seamless and we were able to utilize the testing results when meeting with our childā€™s school district We previously had completed auditory tests, educational diagnostic test and IQ testing but felt there was something still missing. As a Mom who had tried everything, we felt confident in the the guidance and specialty tests offered by Dr. Santa Maria. We are fortunate to have him serve the WNY community and beyond. Thank you so much!

The receptionist was welcoming the initial woman I talked to that helped me with all my paperwork was amazing probably some of the friendliest staff I've come across in a long time. When it came time to meet the Dr. I was nervous because I've seen bad reviews and let me put that to rest he was amazing he was extremely nice professional, this is my second time going to his office the first time I met with a woman. I didn't get to meet him and she was amazing too this is my second time going back for bariatric surgery I got the sleeve the first time now I'm doing the switch and both times was a great experience I don't know why there's so many bad reviews but my experience was amazing. Don't always believe what you read everybody I've met in that office has been very nice.

I frequently refer to Dr. Santa Maria for neuropsychological evaluations for the children I treat. His evaluations are most helpful. The evaluations are comprehensive and detailed. They have aided me in providing treatment and in securing necessary services from schools through the Committee on Special Education.

Highly regarded as the best in his field, Neuropsychologist, Dr. Michael Santa Maria. I accompanied my child for an evaluation. Dr. Santa Maria was extremely kind, thorough, and explained everything in a very satisfactory manner. Seeing my child at ease was great, as the testing was certainly something we were uncertain of. His report was compiled quickly, with great accuracy and concern for my child's mental health concerns. I do a lot of research before settling on any doctor, the reviews online certainly come to play. This is my review of a doctor who really was a professional, and I thank Dr. Santa Maria, and his staff for making us feel so comfortable.

On the 15 of May, may child and I were LEFT INTO TEARS after visiting this man. He basically TRAUMATIZED my family. He was very ABUSIVE and short with us, then written on the evaluation that it was my fault that my child has issues. He clearly didnt read all the reports I forwarded to him in regarding my childs memory issues. I can tell hes abusive to his friendly staff. I tired to smooth over our differences with his egotistic attitude with staff. On the first visit, he seemed ecstatic to have us. He was happy to see a mother, engage, organized and very loving. This visit ruled me as someone who careless, and assumed that I adopted my child. He also labeled me wrong as a CNA, which I am not!!!!!!!! He was trying to hmanipulate what said, or outright made stuff up out of the blue. I checked to see if hes registered to anything after the fact. Nothing! I'm sure thoses fancy papers are lies! STAY Away!

After reading other reviews from Santa Maria patients, I am very relieved to see that my wife was not the only one who was treated very unprofessionally by this individual. She went 3.5 hrs post surgery with low oxygen levels which, no doubt, affected her cognitive ability. She was referred to this individual for diagnosis, and during her brief 10-15 minute meeting, he didn't even discuss what occurred, he wouldn't let her ask even one question and started bringing up things of which were totally irrelevant to the situation, he was very rude and she left feeling worthless! Thanks to all the other reviews, my wife feels better knowing she did nothing wrong! God Bless

I can only review based off first impression of Dr. Santa Maria from today. With that being said... I feel Dr. Santa Maria is a consummate professional that understands EVERY mental health condition per DSM 5; common language and standard criteria for the classification of mental disorders. Footnote: Psychiatrists are doctors who take the Hippocratic oath to apply, for the benefit of the sick, all measures [that] are required, avoiding those twin traps of overtreatment and therapeutic nihilism. and remember that there is art to medicine as well as science, and that warmth, sympathy, and understanding may outweigh the surgeonā€™s knife or the chemistā€™s drug. Therefore, I strongly have faith in Dr. Santa Maria as a knowledgeable, honest, laser focused and ethical professional, whose assessment will not negatively impact my life, as it will help positively guide me towards becoming a complete individual.

Test was rigorous at about 8 hours length. One break in between. The person administrating seem very polite and made me feel at ease. I had multiple impairments but was given no diagnose through Santa Maria. The tests were quite old creating a "Flynn effect" as my new psychologist explained to me. My new psychologist has diagnosed me with a few disorders including dyslexia and DID. I am now getting the medication I need to feel my best. So, if you want a doctor who doesn't look at the results and blames everything on depression this is your guy. Good luck.

He is an insurance Dr. I have contacted the Ethics board as well as the psychological board. Regarding his behavior. We will see what happens.

Had the same issues regarding his suspect diagnosis as the other posters. Everything seemed to revolve around anxiety or depression, yet, he only met with me for all of five minutes. He made accusations in his report based on issues that he did not inquire about but he referenced things that happened many years ago which are irrelevant today. Very Frustrating and Very Unprofessional. Thankfully my doctors took the time and focused on my CURRENT signs and symptoms and gave me an accurate clinical diagnosis which they are treating me for. I never write reviews, but this doctors facts and his analysis was so inaccurate, that I thought it was worth mentioning.

I was referred to him for bariatric surgery pre testing. when I called them to set up my appointment I told them who my insurance provider was and that I was on my 1st out of 6 visits with my dr. they made the appointment, gave the evaluation to my dr but unknown to me this eval would be useless. per my insurance company which I had no knowledge of the test had to be performed within the last three visits or will not be accepted. Now I have to pay for the test all over again and it's possible the insurance will not approve the test again. so if the test isn't approved this so called DR. just screwed up 9 months of protocol for me to have my surgery done along with costing me over 5k this year in medical Bills to get this taken care of.

Worst experience ever. How this unethical man is able to still practice is beyond me. I will be reporting him to anyone I can find. He does not listen, cuts you off, is obviously practicing in an unethical manner, and somehow gets away with it. His poor staff were kind and apologetic for the many hours of testing, which seemed completely unnecessary. I mean how many times can you really ask the same questions over and over. Shame on me for having good insurance as he was obviously taking advantage of that. Please anyone reading this...go elsewhere. There are way more competent and qualified neuropsychologists in the area.

Dr Santa Maria is a compassionate, understanding, thorough, knowledgable physician who will take the time to genuinely listen to you. He does not miss a detail when you are talking and the passes no judgement when speaking to a patient. The meticulously considers all possible medical conditions that could be causing your symptoms and genuinely wants to figure out what is going on with you. I would not think twice before recommending his practice to any family members or friends of mine.

Dr. Santa Maria and his staff were excellent for me and my son. They took a lot of time to listen to my concerns and I felt like they genuinely cared about creating a positive experience for him while testing. Thank you to all of you for getting us into the schedule so that we could have the pertinent information that we needed for our upcoming CSE meeting. We appreciate you all!

My daughter decided to make an appt. with this office without my knowledge. After a full day of ridiculous testing she left there feeling absolutely awful. To make matters worse, we get a bill for close to $800 for this nonsense. I spoke to the business dept. and offered to settle the bill with them if they could work with us and I was told its in collections because my daughter started making her monthly payments late. At no point after more than one call did this practice try and work with us. This is a money motivated practice that did not care at all about the patient. Had I known we would never have gone here. STAY AWAY!

Hopefully this can help anyone that goes to this individual. This person based on my own experience and listening to other professionals that work in the field. Doesnā€™t give you accurate reports. Doesnā€™t care what youā€™re historical records say. He doesnā€™t listen he doesnā€™t care. Itā€™s his way or the highway. A lot of people have had lots of bad experiences from this person. People need to report this individual to the state. This guy should not be able to practice. If you have a bad experience. Just know youā€™re not the only one who itā€™s happened too. Donā€™t go here.

This man spent less than 10 minutes with my adult autistic sister then wrote up a three page report that didn't reflect her at all. Horrible experience.

I love Degraff because the possibility of survival, post visit is nil. . . yet, I made it out myself by simply doing triage then running for my life. Be smart. Know the loopholes and have a great Kwanza!
