We visited Nicky’s Thai Kitchen (Downtown Pittsburgh) today. It was 3/10 (10 being the best)! I had the Garlic lunch special with a salad, crispy egg rolls, and my wife had the Crab Rangoon (app) for her meal. The salad dressing was too X 2 sweet! The dressing was inedible. Everything else was bland. Then they applied a 20% service fee that the hostess was not able to explain! Never again!

Lovely Thai food with an outstanding service at good price. Never afraid of too hot and spicy Thai food here, as you can choose from the 1-5 level of hot and spiciness.

My life has been better knowing this place exists. My colleagues and I came here late on a weekday and had the perfect dining experience. We tried a bunch of items on the menu and each dish I tried was better than the last. It's truly a place to have a dining experience. The service was impeccable, the presentation of the food was gorgeous, and the restaurant is pristine. I'll be coming back often and regularly.

PRICEY! But 100% with the price as far as taste, ambience, and presentation. My fiance and I ate here and LOVED the food. I got the Kao Soy and a Lavender Sage Sake. They got the Crab fried rice...it was PHENOMENAL! CONS- If you go while it's busy or during the dinner rush, prepare to leisurely wait around to have your server come through. While they were VERY polite- there was over server to like six tables so if you wanted to eat and jet? You are stuck until they pass through. Other than that it was quite lovely. -.5 for the prices, -.5 for the wait on servers. Solid 4 *'s!

I ordered two appetizers that being the crab rangoon and the spring rolls I absolutely loved both. The rangoon was very creamy and crunchy I couldn't stop eating them. The spring rolls with duck sauce was incredible and is a great and safe choice for an appetizer. Perhaps it may have been my own doing but I ordered the basic pad thai with beef, I found it to be very bland maybe due to the lack of base sauces in addition. I suggest ordering their more adventurous varieties if you dine here. The atmosphere however was gorgeous, so much effort has been put into the restaurant's theme and I love it.

Great Thai restaurant downtown. The service is great and fast which is important when grabbing lunch. The atmosphere is nice, and within walking distance and central to downtown. Highly recommended. 20240131 Another great visit, great food and quick service.

The special attention to detail from the decore of the restaurant to the utensils used during the meal all congregate with one of their amazingly savory dishes. It's impossible not to glance around the place and 'eye devour' every plate being served. The atmosphere is a mixture of young and old or maybe it's folks who simply want to experience a terrific meal.

My wife and I tried Nicky’s for the first time during a recent stay in Pittsburgh. The service was friendly and prompt, even though the restaurant was fairly busy indoors and outdoors. Everything we had - papays salad as an appetizer, massaman curry, and spicy noodle — was very good and came in ample portions. We had room only for Thai iced tea in lieu of dessert. They charge 20% service by default which was the biggest bummer.

Judging from the raving reviews, I was looking forward to great Thai food. Unfortunately, the Tom Yum Noodle Soup I ordered didn’t live up to my expectations. There was too much noodles and too little soup. The soup also didn’t arrive piping hot and the mushrooms were definitely undercooked. Not the dining experience I was expecting especially with the prices for the dishes.

Had the pineapple fried rice and it was fantastic, just enough heat to just but not burn you up. Great flavor! Enjoyed the mango sticky rice for dessert and it is awesome! Highly recommend both items. Service was great never had an empty glass, the only downside is… don’t look at the menu items on the website, the prices and off $3-5. Other than that if you’re in downtown Pitt, go check out Nicky’s!

The food here is good no doubt but our mango salad was a 2/5, the chicken was so dry and felt like it was just re-heated, not fresh at all. Our server was not as attentive and service was very mediocre for the 20% tip that was automatically added on our bill. We got here at 8:30pm and they gave us a table however it felt like our server didn’t want to take another group. I wish the experience was better to highlight my parents anniversary but maybe it was just one of those days🤷🏼‍♂️

I recommend making a reservation especially over weekends as it gets super busy. We ordered red curry with tofu and gaprow lad kao with chicken. The portions were huge for gaprow and it tasted delicious. The red curry came with a side of rice, which was a little less as there was so much curry left. Red curry tasted great but the tofu was mediocre. Aesthetically the place looks good. They do add 20% service charge just for awareness.

Absolutely delicious and extremely friendly. Everyone was helpful although they were super busy. Large portions and tons of options. My friend ordered incorrectly and they fixed it with a smile. I’ll definitely eat here again.

Good service. Very clean bathrooms. Food is subpar for the price and the automatic 20% service charge. Never been to Thai restaurant until now that does not serve vegan curries. The best food eaten were the appetizers especially the veggie egg roll. Sticky mango rice was okay. Mango a little mushy.

Best Thai food in PIT. Just come and explore this amazing cuisine. Happy hours mon to fri 5-7. Enjoy your time in downtown here with amazing dinners with outside seating. The downside is they add 20% service tax on your check and also don’t hesitate for tips.

Excellent red curry noodle bowl. I ordered medium heat and the dish was very close to what I expected; it could have been a touch spicier, but still had a flavorful heat level. Shrimp could have been cooked a minute less for an even better texture. Sriracha pork rib appetizer was extremely tasty; the sriracha dipping sauce was just a notch on the mild side, but still full of flavor. Service was above average, even at the bar (I had no reservations for dinner). The restaurant was full when I left, and it's easy to see why!

I enjoyed the steamed dumplings, fresh green & red curry with jasmine rice. The place was nearly full in the evening & hence the service was a bit slow. There is both indoor & outdoor seating. Please be aware that a 10%service tax is added besides the tax to the bill.

The food was great! Service uneven. We would definitely go again. We felt like the spice level was switched between two dishes: the mills was quite spicy and the requested spicy was quite mild. Appetizers were excellent. Food was less oily than feared. It was a busy evening at a popular place. Reservations are good; be there a bit early because of they call your name at the reserved time - or before - they will mark your name off the list!

Went with my friend, who was born and raised in Thailand and visiting America, for my first experience at a Thai restaurant! Who better to bring along to show me what to order and see how authentic everything is? Some of my family go to another Nicky's location and enjoy it. I ordered pork dumplings, sticky white rice, and mango juice. Something easy to start with, and as a first timer and formerly picky eater as a child, I thoroughly enjoyed it. She ordered crab rangoon, jasmine rice, a soup, and Thai iced tea. To her the crab rangoons were a bit small and the tea wasn't her favorite, but still said it was good overall. The restaurant is a decent size for downtown with a bar on one side and cozy seating on the other. Dimly lit with various Buddha statues and decorations on the walls. Outside was a nice seating area with plants and umbrellas. The staff were friendly and attentive on this decently busy Saturday afternoon, and tip was included in the service charge. I look forward to trying more in the future!

Service was great with how busy they were. I ordered the level 5 “Thai Hot” Shrimp Fried Rice. The hottest they make their dishes seemed to be actually a 3 on my heat scale. It was good, except disappointed in only receiving 8 shrimp for a $24 item.

The food is excellent! Pricey, but the quality is there. We started off with the crab rangoon which was tasty. The mango curry with chicken was bursting with flavor. And the massaman curry satisfied my peanut-loving husband. The only thing keeping it from 5 stars is the automatic 20% service fee that gets added to the bill. Our waitress was good, so we would have tipped 20% either way. However, automatically adding the fee does not seem right. Especially when the receipt has ANOTHER spot asking for a tip. So if someone does not pay close attention, they could tip twice.

I've never been to a Thai restaurant before. I really had no idea what to expect. Everything was absolutely amazing. I'm not very adventurous with food choices, but I saw the chef's special and immediately decided that's what I wanted. It was salmon (nice size) with some type of mango/sweet chili sauce. It was the best meal that I've had in over a year. I appreciate the management for automatically adding in the tip. Considering the wait staff, has to pay taxes on 20% whether or not they received it. Kudos to taking care of your employees. Thank you for giving me the best dining experience in every way.

This place is a Gem! The rice was sticky just the way I like my rice. I had the lobster rice spicey with a pineapple Margarita. The atmosphere was very rich in their Thai history. I highly recommend.

The place looks very authentic on the inside. Gives a very movie vibe of Chinese restaurants, honestly. Great feel to it The food is amazing. It was one of the best mango curries I have eaten in a while now. The quantity is also very filling. The servers were polite and professional.

Yummy spicy Thai food, with quick service. We’ve been here multiple times and the food quality is always excellent. Their green curry and Tom kha soup are excellent. Most of the food we have tried here is great.

Waited half of an hour to get a table. This place seems always busy. Enjoyed Tom Kha soup, mango curry, and crab rangoon. The services were off most of our requests, due to understaffing.

I went as a solo diner, on the later end of lunch. I arrived a few minutes before 2 other sets of diners, who also happened to be from the same convention I was also attending. I was not checked on or served water for the first 10 minutes I sat at my table. The other tables were both served and tended to within two minutes of being sat down. I was not. I felt that I had to go back to the host's booth and ask for service. Once the staff knew I had not been attended to, I was attended well. The meal I ordered was delightful. My meal came with the house soup (chicken noodle). Simple and delightful. I ordered Pumpkin Curry with Tofu. If you are a person who likes their squash soft and consistent, this dish may not be for you. If you like your squash with a bit of bite, you'll probably love this. The flavor, texture, heat level, and overall presentation was delightful. One thing I did not like was that they added my tip to the original receipt. One server brought it out, and I did not catch it. The host came out and checked that this was alright, and I did say "yes." I am going to write off the initial lack of service as an oversight, and plan to come back before my business trip is over. There were many happy customers while I was there, and I saw many, many plates of delicious, fresh looking meals.

On Sunday, my girlfriend and I visited this place rather late in the evening (around 8ish) and we were concerned it might be an issue as they were due to close at 9 p.m. It was a bit crowded but after a 20 minute wait or so, we were able to get a table. Surprisingly the interior was spacious so we didn't feel confined at all; however, it can get quite a bit noisy so don't expect to have a quiet meal!😝 The menu selections is abundant, although it lacked visual images so you kind of have to rely on memory, or better yet, see what the other customers are having. And be prepared as some of these dishes can be a bit pricey. I thoroughly enjoyed the Sriracha Seafood Noodle Soup ($18) and the my girlfriend liked the Grilled Duck Cury ($35). We rounded off with the Teriyaki Chicken ($26) and Pad Thai ($19) and washed it all down with a Thai iced tea ($4.50). Oh and even though it was slated to close at 9, we were not rushed to finish our meal. So all in all, we enjoyed our experience and meal.

This place is a fantastic lunch spot! Can't talk it up enough! My partner raved about this place for the last several months when she last had a coworkers going away luncheon there and was super excited to go back! We got the steamed pork dumplings first, and they were served with a delicious sauce that went super well with the taste of the pork. Then I had the chicken phad thai, which I consider the base line of any thai restaurant spot here in the states, and they knocked it out of the park. It was so flavorful, and had a perfect peanutty taste to the sauce. My partner got the phad see eaw with shrimp, and the noodle and vegetables were cooked exactly the way she liked them and was just delicious! Can't recommend this place enough! Just fantastic!

So yummy! The patio was a great place to sit on a warm evening and the food was very good too! I had the pad thai and crab rangoons. Large portions! The cocktail menu is very appealing and they come out so pretty with fun garnishes. My cocktail was a mint ginger lemonade.

Delicious food but hot, hectic atmosphere! My husband and I had the samosas, Massaman curry, and green curry, and everything tasted AMAZING. However, we came on a 90-degree day, and the inside seating was extremely hot, packed, and muggy. We had reservations but were sat at a small table that wobbled, and I was getting dripped on by the AC the whole time. We’ll definitely be back, but maybe on a cooler day!

A lovely restaurant in downtown. Food is delicious and so reasonably priced ($20-25 per person). The lighting and the greenery decoration really sets a warm tone. They also started using the heater lamps for outdoor seating. One downside was the loudness of nearby cars on the road (trucks, motorcycles).

On a scale of romances to documentaries, Nicky's Thai Kitchen is a romance of flavor and experience. We made a reservation for Nicky's Thai Kitchen before seeing a show at the Benedum, and when we arrived, we were immediately seated. Nicky's decor transports you to another place, but the dining room can be noisy if there's a crowd. We had to yell to be heard across the table. The food was magnificent, and we thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered. Highly recommend making a reservation, and you should definitely consider the Pineapple Curry!

  • 5/5 Amber E. 1 year ago on Google
Mango yellow curry was delicious. I wish I would have had chicken instead of tofu because the tofu was pretty flavorless. I am still rating this place a 5 because overall the vegetarian appetizers, crab ragoon, and Thai green tea were great!

If I could give zero stars, I would. They flaunt how serious they take allergies. I ordered gluten free and let them know I was allergic to gluten (celiac). I picked up my order, they told me it was gluten free. I go to eat it and there’s a wonton shoved in it. I’ve called to get a refund or answers and their phone is turned off while their store is open. Would never recommend to anyone. Lie about allergy accommodations, terrible service, and beyond frustrating.

This is one of the best Thai restaurants I’ve ever been too (I’ve eaten a lot of Thai). The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The aesthetic is tasteful, intriguing and simply beautiful, while highlighting the Thai culture. The pumpkin curry was mind blowing! So rich and delicious. Well done!!!
