My favorite bridge in the city with the most bridges in the world. A masterwork of architecture. I love walking across and the views are great.

Don't look down - you'll see the river through the holes in the sidewalk

Beautiful view of the city and the “incline”! As of summer 2023, one lane is closed for both traffic and pedestrian due to some work.

Pittsburgh has almost 500 bridges. This is an amazing city well worth a visit.

The Smithfield Street Bridge is a steel lenticular truss bridge that first opened in 1883 and is the city’s oldest bridge. This bridge crosses the Monongahela River to connect the South Shore with the downtown city. Of course, the bridge has been renovated many times over the years, but it maintains its status as a National Historic Landmark. Much of the bridge looks blue-green so does not match the surrounding yellow bridges, but the bridge has a beautiful design and provides beautiful views of the river and buildings.

Great place with a beautiful view of the city. The bridge can lead to downtown or station square. At the end there are bus lanes and trolley tracks as well

Aside from the fact that this is a bridge packed with the rich history, it gives you a unique vantage point of different parts of the city. On nice days I will skip two T stops just to be able to walk across the bridge and spend some time to relax in thought and make my way to Station Square. It's one of my favorite bridges in the city. It is a must see if you are an "out of towner". Then once you make it across the bridge you might as well take yourself up the Monongahela incline and take a peek at the observation point to capture the most beautiful city skyline you'll ever see!

You can see a nice view of the city, on one side, and Station Square, on the other sidr, from the bridge. There is a nice pedestrian walkway. The bridge has a long history, giving it various old gum pieces stuck on its sides. The traffic is also a little noisy. Kind of a nice place for lunch break walks.

It's a bridge. It goes over the river. Asking for a rating is a bit silly.
