This is probably one of the worst emergency rooms I have ever been to. I went in on Monday experiencing a multitude of symptoms. The room I was put in was uncomfortable. The bed was extremely small, no blanket or pillow (and I wasn’t offered any). I didn’t even know where the remote was to control the television. The room was very cramped and the my bathroom had another door so I could hear people coming in and out of the bathroom attached to my room. I could also hear a constant banging coming from above (not sure what it was but the intense headache I was experiencing did not make it a calm experience.) The nurse who helped me was kind but when she went to input my IV blood splattered everywhere. She later tells me they ran out of the new IVs they use so this has been happening often. What kind of hospital doesn’t have the correct equipment to not further injure patients. Finally they run some tests on me including a Covid test. The doctor lets me know the Covid test may take a few days to receive results. Then they say I need to be discharged. I was rushed out of the hospital room. Before I could even gather my things a cleaning woman came into the room because she thought I had already left. The staff was cold and the building was also cold. It was not a welcoming environment. Fast forward 8 days and I am still sick and have not received my test results back yet. I call the facility and get tossed around until finally the third woman I speak to is a nurse and she says that “my Covid test lab has been cancelled” and that since I took an at home test that came back positive I can assume I have Covid. This was very upsetting because I had been waiting for official results and they were apparently canceled for no reason? The woman on the phone was very rude and dismissive. She said there was nothing she could do to help me and that I should just buy over the counter medication. All around I had a frustrating experience here and I hope I can spare the next person from the unhelpful runaround.

Worst hospital - my story dates back to april 2015, but posting reviews today shows i am still suffering because of the experience at this hospital 1 year back when by baby was born . My midwife Nicole Rawson sent me to the hospital when i was 41 weeks pregnant (overdue). There were no rooms available . Kept us in triage for 12 hours on the most horrible beds. Got a room at midnight after agreeing to take epidural otherwise they would give the room to some other patient who needs epidural ( Realllyy !!). No proper doctors to even check me. Induced me and put on epidural only to have a c section 18 hrs later. Worst hospital Magee and such careless doctors. Till date i am suffering from postpartum depression.

If I can give less then one star I would have given that. We had the worst experience one can ever had for the delivery. Its just about making money for them. 1> We were visiting a mid wife Nichole in green tree office thinking she will help us to get the natural delivery. She was completely irresponsible. 2> We were one week over due we went for the visit in office and she said go to the hospital in downtown, they will take you in a labor and delivery room. 3> we reached hospital around 1:00 PM and the hospital folks didn't received any call from her and she was not reachable. They put is in a triage room. 4> There was no follow up in the triage room for more than 8hrs. She was tied up with machines on very uncomfortable bed, they didnt allowed her to move or walk. they didnt even gave an extra pillow worst nurses ever. 5>after 8 hrs one nurse came and said they will move us to a delivery room only if she is ready to take epidural. We said we want to move in a room but why its a pre condition we said we dont want to do that on a pre condition 6> we waited another 2 hrs to get into the delivery room .. ad this point we spend more than 10 hrs unattended my wife was already in a lot of back pain and we bound to take epidural. 7> 1:00AM next day we got the room no doc visit yet after the epidural plugged in 8> Doc came morning checked the dilation she is 4cm dilated. Doc did nothing to help just broke the water and thats lead to 6cm dilation till 4:00 PM 9> they did Not tried to change the position or did anything to make the things better 10> 6:00 PM another doc came said still 6cm lets to the surgery 11> At this time we were very tired and exhausted and agreed to the process 12> After the birth they took us to private room 2 days over their was the only good experience we had in the whole process 13> After the discharge after 2 days reaching home with in 2 hr my wife got very high fever 102 and we have to come back to hospital in emergency 14> we paid for the ambulance and heavy copay of emergency later to find out that there is some vaginal infection She has which was never diagnosed when we were in hospital. and they didnt considered that we were in the hospital just 2 hr back and charged us everything they can. I hoped we made some wise and firm decisions at that time like not to wait so long in the triage room not to took epidural early tried some natural way. at the end we are happy that our baby is fine but at the same time exhausted from the top rated hospital staff in Pittsburgh

Normally, I don't like to leave 1 star reviews, but I am baffled and regretful that I had to pay for my visit to the ER to be seen by these inadequate doctors. My pain sensitivity has heightened, making it troublesome to sleep at night. I knew it wasn't a common illness, so I visited the ER and waited for three hours. I met with Deborah Brooks and explained that I was freezing, in excruciating pain, and couldn't simply walk without having the pain exacerbate at multiple locations. She responded with an exaggerated sorry, saying there was nothing she could do, and told me to take some ibuprofen, which I already did before visiting the ER just to drag myself here. I was discharged immediately after the conversation, and it doesn't seem right to leave a patient in excruciating pain. It's been three days since my visit, with painful nights of sleep deprivation.

This doesn't even deserve 1 star... I love the upstairs units and parts of magee they take care of you and assess all your needs. The ER on the other hand are lazy, cruel, and have no clue what they are doing. Takes hours for them to get anything done. So story short I'm in here for accidentally pulling my nephrostomy tube catheter in my kidney which was extremely painful and got here by ambulance because there was severe bleeding from the kidney making it's way down to the tube and bag connected to the outside of my body to drain my kidney... the pain has been a 10 since I got here 7 hours ago... and in that 7 hours I have been screaming nonstop in pain because it feels like I am being stabbed internally and I keep bleeding... i have asked them nicely if they could give me pain meds because I cannot take this pain anymore it's unbearable. And they have refused saying because I am pregnant giving me an opioid like diladid or oxy would be dangerous to the baby. Mind you it wasn't dangerous to them before because 3 weeks ago when I had surgery to put the tube in they gave me diladid, oxy, and phetnoyl and didn't have a problem with it being harmful to the baby then. And I am the type to have a very high pain tolerance and usually ride my pain and don't take the pain meds. But today I am suffering and they are being cruel by allowing me to be in unbearable pain for this long. I think it's wrong and a malpractice on they're part and I don't recommend going to the er if you have a severe issue like this they treat it like I got a scrape on my knee.

Today is September 16. It is 8pm. I have been sitting in this ER all day. After 730 pm, the manager must have left because it sounds like a party is going on at the nurses station with staff and security. The talk and the laughter is deafening!

Incredible experience. Was here for five days while my daughter had her hip replaced. Doctors were incredible. Floor staff was incredible. The entire staff was incredible. When you dream about the perfect experience with a hospital when your family goes through a life altering event, this is the hospital that you want to be at. Five stars are not enough to be fair!

Worst Experience in my entire life !!!!!! I went in to meet with genetics and childrens hospital to discuss one of my twin sons cleft lip and a birth plan ended up staying over night for signs of preeclampsia. The triage for womans birth center is absolutely disgusting and down right awful. They left tubes of my urine and blood laying around everyone was very very rude. I was given an exam to see if i was dilated and the woman was so rough and took so long I was brought to tears. The room reminded me of a nasty clinic. Once I was taken to a room to start a 24 hour urine I was never checked on besides once every shift change they never checked my id bracelet tried giving me someone elses medications, wanted to know where my heart monitor was and I am not on a heart monitor, thought I was 22 weeks pregnant and I am 34, they tried treating me for some other girls problem. There teams never coordinated with each other to find us a birth plan and make sure all things that needed discussed where before we left as we live two hours away. The nurse informed us that all the units except one had drug addict babies in the nursery's. Junkie moms who where there to get methadone where treated like gold while we were treated like we didnt exsist upon discharge we where suppose to make the final birth plan and the doctor went on to say i could have them at my home town because there was no blood pressure issue and did not know my child had a cleft lip and palate so clearly my charts where never read. I would not let me dog have puppies at this nasty hospital and my dog is a male ! Most ignorant people and filthy place i have ever been in. I will not be giving birth to my twins here and I will be reporting them to the appropriate services !

Can't understand how anyone could rate them anything but 5 stars. Professional, thorough, compassionate, and amazingly excellent at what they do. As a doctor it's scary to know all of the bad things that can happen. Watching my wife and son in their care was a humbling experience of how great doctors and nurses can overcome situations that would have resulted in terrible outcomes 50 years ago.

3 hours and no help. I'm in the er literally dying. UPMC doesn't pay taxes and they are not the pillar to the community that they put on. As a ex patient and ex employee.

The staff was just wonderful. So nice, kind, & caring. My visits there have been nothing but smooth. There weren't any rude staff members and their expertise on knowing how to take care of people with health issues, like myself, is fantastic. When you're at UPMC Magee, you feel at ease with the caring, dedicated, & very knowledgeable medical staff.

Horrible experience!! Took what was suppose to be one of the most precious moments of my life and turned it into a complete nightmare. It was deliberate and unnecessary. It's been almost one year and I am still as upset now (maybe more) as I was last October. Also, there was dried blood on the bed that we had to clean off ourselves. That was reported to the Health Department! I have yet to discuss my personal experience with Admin. ... but I will, even if it is a year later. I'm still beyond disgusted and I will not ever forget about what happened.
