One of the most impressive museums dedicated to the Infantry and maneuver. Check out the poppy fields art exhibit; has a theater with IMAX, third in the state, restaurant is not yet reopened but it is nice. Amazing exhibits. Very proud to work for the military

I don't really care for museums. But this was a very eye evening, heart wrenching, and educational visit. I'm going back tomorrow to see the rest of it. It was such a beautiful place and a great reminder of how lucky we are as a nation because of the sacrifices the men and women in uniform made for us. I would add more pictures but it's better to experience it in person. All the employees were just so kind.

One of the best museums we have ever visited - and it's free..? Very informative and broken down by the eras. Free public WiFi, too. Plan for 3-4 hours to at least experience anything. There is a free 15 minute film in the main exhibits area that is also highly recommended..! There were some outdoor exhibits, too. HIGHLY recommended to visit!

This marks my second time visiting this museum. It’s always nice inside and the staff is always nice. You can’t beat a huge museum like this for free of charge. They encourage a $5 donation that helps with the upkeep of the museum. If you haven’t been, definitely stop by and check it out

My family and I had the blessing of being able to experience the National Infantry Museum recently while in town for army purposes. There was lots to see and learn about. I appreciated how great it was organized and displayed. It was close enough to the base for easy travel and with all the outdoor space, it offers a great opportunity for kiddos to run and explore a bit.

Surprisingly well maintained and well organized👍🏻 There is no entrance fee, but a donation box at the entrance, so you can do it. When I said it was my first visit, the staff kindly gave me a brief overview. It's a bit out of the way, but it was a really valuable experience and I had a meaningful time🤩

Great museum located at Ft. Moore, Ga. Lots of exhibits outside. There is a WWII company street that is awesome. If you’re into military history, or even just history, then this is the place for you. This museum does a great job thoughtfully covering the history of the USA Infantry from inception to modern times. The displays are amazing and the artifacts are plentiful. I really enjoyed the modern exhibit and the WWI exhibit. The entry is free but I would recommend giving a donation by either cash or card. There’s a great gift shop and food options as well. Make sure you give yourself a few hours to really be able to see everything.

In the 1960s my father graduated Infantry Officer Candidate School, which at the time was 6 months long. In the 80s I graduated from basic training and Advanced Infantry Training, as did my brother in the 90s. It was only natural that we would come to visit this museum. We were not dissapointed. The museum and its theater as well as the replica Vietnam memorial wall and the very impresssive memorial to honor the memorial of those lost on 911 as well as the on going war on terrorism. Truly a museum that must be visited more than once.

Amazing! I haven't been back to Benning since the end of the 90's. This wasn't there when I was stationed or went back for training. However, we were passing through the Columbus area with our children in a family trip so, we thought we'd show them the old stomping grounds! We saw this was there now and decided to visit. Wow! They really did a wonderful job of curation and presentation. I truly can not overstate it enough that it is worth your time (it's free so, no money).

Took a tour of The National Infantry Museum. We were blown away by the exhibits. They were very informative and educational. Facility itself, including grounds were pristine, top notch and well maintained. Banquet/ catering facility reasonably priced. Food was professionally prepared and served and delicious. Servers attire was nicely coordinated. Employees were super friendly, professional, and helpful. All visitors on premises seems to be enjoying themselves.

This is an excellent museum. It is well organized, interesting, clean, and thorough. It treats Soldiers with respect, but does not whitewash history. Plan on spending some time there when you go. So much to see and take in. Very friendly staff, also, and no admission charge. I strongly recommend this museum.

So much to learn. Truly an amazing museum. Could spend hours learning and walking back in time to see the past. The artwork is stunning. The statues are life like. If you have an opportunity to visit, invite a veteran or current soldier so personal and so many real life stories. A must see on your Ft. Benning visit. It is free to see but please be generous and make a nice donation.

I am military and got in for free, so don't quote me on saying "it's free". But I would gladly pay to see some of the relics and vehicles they have. They have equipment from every battlefield the US has fought in. My only regret was I only got to spend an hour there.

This is a simply amazing place. It is an interactive history of the United States infantry. It has many exhibits showing you the strength of our nations premier fighting force. The grounds of the parade field is laden with the soil from every battle since the American revolution. That way every soldier walks in the footsteps of those who have gone before. Totally worth a visit to see how your freedom is defended. Hooah!

If I could give more than 5 stars, I would! This was incredible. Broken down into different areas (wars), the artifacts available to view are amazing, the imagery and live wax displays were incredible. Literally things to view from floor to ceiling. Just an absolute must visit if in this area.

I’m back for my second time after initial visit more than ten years ago. This is A MUST SEE!! The displays are top notch down to every single detail. Simply put… this museum is a wonderful dedication to ALL who’ve served in the military. A big thanks to all who’ve put the museum together! It’s family friendly and judging by the looks on kids faces as I walked around… they were like in total awe. I highly recommend u visiting here! Non-military may visit only on weekends. 👍👍😁🇺🇸

The National Infantry Museum Is Very Awesome! It was great, interesting, and enjoyable to go there to learn all the history, and see all the models. The simulator was very fun too. Without any doubt I strongly recommend The National Infantry Museum because it's more than just a great fun adventure it's a great opportunity to take advantage of! Have a great day!

Absolute best free museum! If you’re with a group, splurge and pay for a tour guide! They bring the last 100 yards to life. The museum is so well done and touring it with bets while young soldiers also come through is incredible!

This is the most amazing museum I have ever went to. There are part that make you feel like you walk into the real battle and feel what our heros really went through. It is educational for children, my grandchildren were amazed thru the whole museum. My daughter, son-in-law, and I have been there twice and will go again any chance we get.

The museum was incredibly powerful to experience. We spent hours there and still didn't have a chance to see every thing. It is definitely worth a drive to Columbus. The museum is free to enter. They do ask for a donation though, which, considering all our military has done, is doing, and will do for us, a donation of $5 each person is absolutely doable. We will definitely be back.

Really fantastic place to learn about the history of the Infantry. The shop was really great. I purchased a glass bottle in the shape of a grenade with hot sauce that is made by veterans.

Entrance to the museum is free but donations are accepted. This is one of my favorite places to visit when I come to Columbus. This museum is a must see! It is absolutely beautiful, educational and has something for all family members. They even have 3 different simulation rides. You can do all 3 for $20. A MUST visit!

Beautiful museum! The building is clean and very well maintained. The exhibits are informative with many displays. We spent three hours our first day visiting and returned a second day to finish the exhibits and walk the Heritage Walk and Memorial Walk of Honor outside. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

The National Infantry Museum honors two centuries of infantry troops in our history and highlights their role in various warfare campaigns at home and abroad. The exhibits are expertly curated and memorializes the sacrifices and heroism of our freedom fighters. Located within the Fort Banning campus, the museum has displays across three magnificent floors and outside. It tells the stories and weapons of the various units and walks visitors chronologically through major operations on the entry floor. In the level below, there are themed galleries of the strategic development and deployment of the military to respond to world conflicts and how we positioned ourselves to become a military super power. I really enjoyed the armor and cavalry gallery and found the gallery for military family sacrifices extremely moving. God bless our youth and their families, for the courage to defend freedom for all 🙏🇺🇸

It's an excellent museum. We were in the area for our son's Turning Green Ceremony at Fort Moore and wanted to take in as much as we could on his 4 day leave. This was a must on our list and totally worth not making some of our other "plans" for we spent almost 5 hours there, and we didn't get it all in. Thank you to all the volunteers and everyone involved in keeping the museum so nice. When you stop, don't forget to stop at the Soldier Store, it's a veteran owned business.

This is a great museum, whether or not if you are a military or history buff. It offers a thorough look through the history of our military, from the Revolutionary War to current Afghanistan. It includes hundreds of true "artifacts" of each time frame. The battle simulations are interactive and very cool! It's excellent for adults and children!

The museum is awesome, easily rivaling anything the Smithsonian has to offer. There is so much more here than I thought so I didn't plan my visit very well and only got through half of the museum. If you are in the area and like military history in particular Army Infantry history, you have to visit, it won't disappoint. I think is free, but donations are accepted.

This place is amazing. Plan an entire day for this. Great movies. Outside there are WW2 Barracks, a church, etc. That's open on weekends. There are tanks, a Vietnam Memorial that's smaller but just like D.C. Soldiers from every war and conflict are honored. I need to go back because I didn't get to walk through it all. If you show up on certain data days, you can watch a live graduation of US Army Infantry Soldiers ( why I was there). The graduation is amazing and quite moving. I'd recommend going on one of those days.

Was probably the best museum I have ever been to, and our family has been to dozens of museums. I will say this, "I was so absorbed into the displays, recreation of the scenes and actual information provided that 4 hours seemed like mere minutes." It was an absolute treasure trove of information, history where even the random staff would stop and talk to you, ask questions and give you real world information of "how" the display came to the museum. Amazing job!!

It's free to get in, and has a lot to look at. Many fantastic dioramas and artifacts, all with great lighting and ambient music, sound, video, to create a very moving and memorable experience. There are alcoves or rooms dedicated to separate historic times or events, each has excellent layout and flow of the eye and foot traffic. Such a well designed museum.

  • 5/5 Shane k. 5 months ago on Google
Very well designed museum. Lot of good exhibits and information. Plenty of parking and good access. It's just outside the post so all can access it. It covers the history of Infantry from day one to modern day. Plan on a good 2 - 3 hours to walk through at a reasonable pace. Free, but donations are appreciated.

One of the best museums I have been too! Each exhibit room was well laid out and provided so much information. My favorite part was going up the walkway to the 2nd floor. The visuals were so realistic and well thought out. We will be back!! We were there for the Iraq war Symposium.

An unplanned visit turned out to be an astonishing one. There is a lot to take in, we were there for couple hours before closing time, realized we barely covered half of it. Triggers several prominent events of history right through the artifacts. The entire set up is incredible. You get to see most of the artilleries , gain knowledge on what US military goes through in a normal day or on a warlike situation. View the trails and techniques that were undergone in the history. They got a setup to offer near real-time experience of the conditions that US military had been through in the war. There are heart wrenching, eye opening moments while looking at Japan flag with autographs of soldiers, saddam’s gold gun and many many more. Staff members are so friendly and helpful at every instance. There is a lot more to cover and would want to spare a whole day to visit again. On top of all, there is no cost of ticket. It’s absolutely and totally FREE of cost. Just walk right in. Must visit place in GA.

Everyone should visit here atleast once. It is wonderfully done. You'll will get a renewed appreciation for our military, from the very beginning to now. The details given to all the different sections are so realistic you feel like you are really there among the action.

It was interesting. It'd be nice to see an expansion of the military achievements and contributions of women and minorities, and also, more exhibits about the Marines since they have infantry too.

Our visit to the Museum was mainly to see my brother graduate from Army Infanty Basics. There wasn't much visiting time before they had to go back to the barracks to find out if they were going to be granted a pass to be with their families (the lack of communication, decision making and things done to the graduates to make sure they and their families remember who owns them is a topic and discussion for another time) but while we waited to hear from our graduate (which took a couple of hours) we toured the museum and WOW. The history, the stories, the artifacts, the development of the tools, accessories and uniforms is just incredible to see. Everything was organized well and easy to follow. I feel like I was so anxious to spend time with my brother that I only half viewed and appreciated what the museum had to offer and would love to go back and truly take everything in.

My husband is an Airborne Ranger. He trained at Ft. Benning. This museum (totally FREE) was PHENOMENAL! Outstanding exhibits! Can’t recommend enough! You will leave feeling so grateful to the men and women who serve.

This hidden gem on the Georgia, Alabama boarder is on the level of a Smithsonian Museum. They have hands-on experiences as well as so many interesting exhibits you could spend more than one day talking it all in. Very moving over all experience, absolutely not to be missed! The staff are very warm, helpful and extremely knowledgeable. Great place!!!

We actually went for a JROTC field trip, so the museum was closed to the public while we were there, but I definitely plan to return since we didn't get to see everything. The exhibits are really nice and well organized. They also have a Vietnam memorial and a War on Terror memorial outside that are very nice. They offer supplies to make rubbings from these memorials. The staff was wonderful and very knowledgeable. We had a great experience! Would like to add that admission is free, but a small donation ($5) is suggested per visitor.

I attended a recital in one of the meeting rooms so I didn't get to explore and see much but this is such a beautiful building. The grounds are immaculate. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I loved the beautiful architecture and the wonderful displays. It appears they even have a theater there. I definitely intend to come back for a personal visit.

Last time I was here was 1976, different time, different building. This monument to the infantry is fantastic! Worth your time. I was 11B airborne infantry from 1976 to 1979, then 24th mech to 1980 and really appreciate what they have accomplished here. My son is now 11B and part of the blue.
