If you can’t get in without a reservation then all the beauty is useless. I find those who make reservations to spend time outdoors generally are people who don’t even know how to enjoy what they’re seeing. If there’s no state funding for state parks where does that money go for fishing licenses for hunting licenses etc.. If you’re turning away 1000 people a day on the weekend and you charge $6 to get in that’s $12,000 a weekend and $48,000 a month. I am Magine $48,000 a month would give you options to find a way to let the residents of the state enjoy its beauty. If it’s about the parking why couldn’t the shuttle service work. I am sure it wouldn’t cost $48,000 a month to run a shuttle service Imagine it would be pretty profitable. It is a beautiful place but I am very very very disappointed. I work 12 hours a day 5 to 6 days a week night shift where in the hell am I going to find time to make a reservation, i’ll find somewhere else to go will never be back.

We did the Hospital Rock Trail and then the Jones Gap Trail. Hit all three waterfalls. It was just under 10 miles and took us all day. That's what we shoot for. I would recommend one trail or the other if you aren't into the all day hike. Both trails are fun with steep parts or rock scrambling. It has some manicuring. There are stone steps, bridges, and conveniently placed rocks to help across creeks. We picked a really foggy day so we can't report any views except the falls. At some points it was so thick that we couldn't see the top of the fall. It seemed like it was falling from a cloud. I'm guessing this isn't the normal view but it was cool none the less. We had a great time and recommend.

Incredible! Jones Gap State Park is a must! I suggest making reservations for camping. Especially weekends. The river and falls are just dreamy! I love that they have big and clean restrooms and a very cute store. We highly recommend this state park but please take the winding roads slow that lead to the park, slow. Some people were going way too fast. That could lead to catastrophe. Also plan to walk quite a bit at the park. Bring food and water. Be careful and enjoy nature’s beauty!

Such a wonderful park. Very scenic. Rainbow Falls trail was a good trek. Took about 3.5 hours round trip with stops often to soak in the surrounds. We’ll be back to enjoy it during the different seasons. Reservations for parking appears to be a must for early morning weekend day visits. Its additional to park entrance fee. So worth the visit!

Beautiful park once you enter. And the first .6 miles of the trail is along the river, so great. We did rainbow falls trail and it was definitely a work out, but the falls was worth it. Although I will say we did it with a 1 year old on a shoulder carrier and having done it now, I would probably just stick with doing the Jones gap falls trail next time with our kiddo cause its an easier shorter trail. Super glad we stopped by this park though. Also pictured is a family of snakes right next to the sign in front of the trout pond.

Fantastic place! The park is a part of the Mountain Bridge Wilderness Area. Beautiful nature, exciting and challenging hiking experience. There are about 30 trails of different levels of difficulty, all with natural surface, often rocky, but with well-built bridges across the creek. Parking is limited, so check their website if you need to make a reservation. Admission fee. Headquarters, restrooms at the east side of the park. Primitive camping sites along the creek allow for a short break, if vacant. Huge trees and giant boulders make it look like an enchanted forest! Waterfalls should be spectacular, but we did not make it to any of them on our visit.

Parking is good with clean restrooms. Takes a little bit of hike to get to the hood fish. The creek is beautiful and fishes very consistent throughout. Very nice pools! I use a 1wt when I’m here because it can get a little tight! Well worth the visit for a full day trip and never disappoints!!

Hiked the Rainbow Falls trail...not an easy hike, but a beautiful view of Rainbow Falls at the end. From the parking lot to the Falls and back was about 5.6 miles, according to my watch. Stopped at the gift shop and the restrooms which were very nice and clean, btw. I saw many picnic tables that I did not take advantage of (too cold) and also a trout hatchery/pond with a few trout in it. Will def be coming back when it is warmer.

One of the best state parks in the state of South Carolina and the upstate. As soon as you step on the park you feel you been transported to another place or country feels like a lush tropical rainforest with lush green vegetation and a zen creek running thru the park, the visitor center feels like a huge cabin in the woods 🌲 🌳 we decided to hike to jones gap falls the easiest hike to do with a toddler but we will visit rainbow 🌈 falls for sure too soon, we collecting all the ultimate outsider stamps

Beautiful, awesome, amazing. There is a lot of walking but worth it once you get to the waterfall. Be ready to hike alot up and down rocks. There is like three set of rock stairs. To do the hike needs lots of water and time. Once you reach the destination to the waterfall all the stress of getting there will banish. There is an entrance fee before the hike....

Love this place! It would be nice if there weren't so many boulders on the path, it's hiking sure, but it seemed like they gave up trying to make the easy trail traversable only a few hundred feet in. Gorgeous spaces, clean trails and restrooms, friendly rangers(?). They even had souvenirs!

Amazing place, the hike to the waterfalls was strenuous but completely worth it. It takes about 2 hours to hike up and about 1 hr to come down. It's a little over 5 miles round trip from the parking lot. Bring a bag lunch for when you get to the top and plenty of water to drink.

35,000 or so acres and only 39 parking spots - made in heaven! Reserve if going in the AM. Caution when wet, as all trails have challenging spots over gullies, ravines, etc. As well, Rainbow Falls trail passes close to occupied bear dens, you may not want to be on the trail near sunset in October/November. Rainbow Falls trail 1100 ft rise in 2 miles - great challenge but roots, slip spots, etc. when dry... NOT a casual hike. Poles recommended.

Awesome trail the waterfall was amazing, it was a little colder so some of the water on the rocks were frozen which made it a little slick but the view all the more stunning with the water flowing and other parts frozen, highly recomend this hike it wasn't extremely hard some of it has logged stairs too.

Jones Gap is an amazing state park even during the hotter summer months. The Gap is cool and shady, while the trees and creek keep is absolutely beautiful. The park itself has great camping amenities as the sites are definitely a good hike but you can walk back to the bath house or ranger station easily. Make sure to prepare for a few days of hiking as there are limitless trails

Gorgeous park. Hiked the Rainbow Falls trail and Jones Gap Falls. Well marked trails, friendly staff, clean restrooms. Will be back to hike again.

Great place to get a 1/2 day hike! We spent the trip passing around a 10 month old baby on a backpack carrier with 4 adults. It was pretty hard to get to the waterfall but definitely doable. Tennis shoes are acceptable but I'd recommend hiking boots if you have them.

This place is gorgeous. The hiking trails run through deep woods so you hike in shade. It's really nice. The trail that leads to Jone's Gap will also connect to Silver Falls at Ceasars Head State Park. That's an 8 mile round-trip. Back and forth to Jone's Gap is a little over 3 miles. The only downside is very limited parking. 37 parking spots. Monday through Thursday is not an issue but weekends need a reservation.

We had a lovely time at Jones Gap State Park hiking to Rainbow Falls. Make sure to make a parking reservation in advance. There is public Wi-Fi at the Ranger station.

Be sure to make a reservation! Beautiful park, friendly/helpful staff, trails were in good condition (still some fallen trees across a few places in the path on the way to campsite 14, but we were about to get around), and the campsite was in great condition. FYI, no tent pad on site 14, but still a great site. I think I would call this mostly medium difficulty (no rock climbing required on the main trail). Lots of water available (bring your filter 😄). There are real fire pits, which is nice, and entrance area has a lovely bathroom with toilets and showers. Trail we took was not ADA-friendly, but entrance area was. We absolutely loved it, it is a real treasure. Can't wait to go back!

Neat park to camp! The hike to each site is longer than the say! Amazing views, and we'll spaced apart ( hence the hike ). Trail hikes are everywhere, and photo ops are as well!

👍👍 Drove here to enjoy a packed lunch with an absolutely stunning view! Also, went out to the Bald Rock scenic overlook just before getting to the Cesar's Head overlook. It's so sad that so many people have ruined the natural beauty of this gorgeous place by putting graffiti all over the rock surface....
