SafeSplash Swim School - Royal Oak

Swimming school Swimming instructor

😠 I was there observing lessons, the instructors and how the class operates. I was horrified. Be warned the pale woman instructor, with the emotionless facial expressions is very aggressive and confrontational type of person. Her yelling and screaming in the pool gets ridiculous and down right scary.... People often mention time, instructor, class, swim, great, kids, classes,

I was there observing lessons, the instructors and how the class operates. I was horrified. Be warned the pale woman instructor, with the emotionless facial expressions is very aggressive and confrontational type of person. Her yelling and screaming in the pool gets ridiculous and down right scary. It reminded me of something straight off of the show Dance Moms. It was cringe worthy. The condescending way she spoke to those around her and surely made me question how she would treat children in her care. The way she switched back and forth from sweet as pie to off the charts nasty was alarming, to say the least. Being in the same space as her felt very tense and uncomfortable. I feel bad for the kiddos in her care. I completely understand there’s a shortage of people willing to work but hiring good employees is key. It’s a hard no for my family though.

Unfortunately not having the best experience here first time signing up my son for classes and 2 out of 4 classes have been cancelled. When I called and spoke to someone they stated this location does not allow makeup classes. So now we are paying $115 a month for two classes. Highly disappointed and will be going somewhere more professional.

This is the absolute worse place to go to! If I could give a 0 star I would. My two kids signed up last year during the summer for lessons. They was told in September that they “summer sessions” was over by the instructor so I discontinued bringing them. I didn’t noticed that safe splash continue to charge my card until the first week of December. As you can imagine I was extremely confused. I contacted the company and was told that I can have 2 make up days out of missing 12 each child. I said that was not good enough. They offered a refund then took the money back. The manager stated he will honor the refund but apparently billing and the owner disagreed. It’s now April and I was still told I could get my money back by the manager but unfortunately that never happened. They took a total of over $400 from me. I recommend never doing business at this location. Save the headache. Not to mention, my kids didn’t learn anything new.

This location has no professionalism whatsoever. They cancel their classes with hours notice leaving my child upset after looking forward to swim. Then you still have to pay for that class that was cancelled although it was not your fault at all. Corporate customer service was no help at all as they stated that it’s the locations policy. I don’t appreciate paying a hefty monthly fee for cancelled classes.

Look at the fine print, shady as heck! I was told I would get a partial refund when I disenroll my child. Months went by and finally called and asked about it, for them to say nope not happening. Mind you there staff said I WOULD BE GETTING A REFUND. I had planned to re-enroll my child in the future, no way now.

When we arrived the two staff members at the front didn't even acknowledge us at first, we had to ask where to go then one employee just pointed at an emergency exit door to the pool. We asked if that was the entrance and they pointed again and said we have to go in there. There was maybe 10 chairs total for the gym members that were swimming and the parents that were watching to share. We weren't greeted by anyone from SafeSplash, we weren't shown where locker rooms were, there was zero instruction. When the class started the instructor didn't say hello, didn't greet my son or boyfriend in the pool, and didn't introduce herself either by her name or by saying she was the instructor. There was nothing to indicate she was actually an employee of SafeSplash and I felt her bathing suit wasn't the appropriate choice for a job that involves working with children in the water. I am all about self expression in our lives, but when I'm considering paying money for my son to participate in something, I would like the person in charge to be properly covered.

Received an excused absence after missing a class where the instructor assured me if I had an excused absence everything would be fine and the class would be honored or refunded. When I expressed this to the front desk they would not honor the class stating the instructor was not authorized to give excused absences. I should be able to rely on the instructor and you should manage your instructors better. Wouldn't recommend.

I believe SafeSplash is a very good swim school. The instructors are very patient. They teach infants how to swim as well as senior. You have one-on-one swim as well as small group which makes you feel safe and secured in the water. I think overall it's just a great place for swim lessons.

I love this school. The owner and staff are very nice. My daughter has a great time when she's there. The instructors are very caring and patient with the students. I have referred all my family and friends to sign up. Plus you can't beat the prices.

Very poorly organized palce. Never on time for the first class. I dont even end up getting 10 mins out of the 30 mins scheduled. Every time a different instructor shows up. No one tracks what kids are doing and what they did in the past. I have had this experience so many times and they never even give you credit for the class they dont show up. very bad place, will never recommend this place. Wasting my time every time I am there by just waiting for them. they even dont send out emails on occasions when the class is cancelled. Very very Bad place.

Instructors are never on time and even they start 20 mins late for a 30 minute class, they end up 5 mins before time and expect you to be out of pool so that next kids can enter. Very bad policy when it comes to everything . Would never recommend this place to anyone. Every time a new instructor taught my kids the same thing and they never progressed them. No track of any thing they are doing or anything. If you want to throw away your money and time , this is the place

Our son's swimming has progressed really well due to the lessons given at Safe Splash. He really likes his instructor and thankfully his instructor is very patient. I would definitely recommend Safe Splash for learning to swim for anyone, young or old.

My daughter absolutely enjoys going to SafeSplash each week. The staff is friendly and professional. I have seen great improvements with my daughters swim safety skills and she seems to be on her way to being a mini Olympic swimmer very soon!!! :)

Both of my sons learned to swim here and they do a great job. My youngest just completed an intermediate course with coach Reign, and she did a wonderful job and really connects well with kids.

Our 5 year old has made more progress in the last month at SafeSplash than the previous six months at her other swim school.
