La Limonaia!!! Dios mio!!! An absolute dream hotel suite in an idyllic setting. We love the European summers but, we visited Tuscany in November. We lucked out with Villa le Fontanelle, and even the weather. Our room, La Limonaia, was incredibly memorable. Two double doors opening up to Firenze. But not before this lemon-fresh garden with ponds and 3,000m of incredibly beautiful Tuscan hills. Dining on site is highly recommended, at least once on your stay. We only stayed one day and didn't want to venture out or need to return post-wine. Adrian(sp) and the entire staff support provided a calm and deliberate dining experience. They were considerate of each party, accommodating for extraneous circumstances...in a word, the whole evening's experience was divine. The establishment itself is priceless, with history 600+years in the making. We just felt cool being there. It's far enough from Florence but close enough, too. It's minutes from the airport, hospital, and A1, but still quiet. We played cards and drank wine. We just felt cozy. And the family that own it are lovely. No expense seems spared, all the appointments and details are spot on. When we can afford it, we'll host a smashing Tuscan Festa because every day this place isn't hosting one is a wasted day.

Really good food and breath taking views of the hills and Florence. We had a wonderful lunch and every single dish was tasty and attentively cooked. The staff was very pleasant and helpful and we all really get at home. I would definitely recommend this place for a special celebration.

We went here to the retaurant for my father-in-laws birthday lunch. Situated in the hills towards the north of Florence with a view, the hotel itself is overlooking the Duomo. With a patio to easily have an aperitivo or two whilst contemplating life and its many pleasures. The restaurant has a sophisticated charm with unusual niches and crannies filled with interesting furnishings. All the affluent people of Florence seem to be regulars here and it is very i teresting people watching. The food, well, I had an amazing Linguini with black truffle. My wife had a steak fillet which was one of the best I have ever had in Italy (usually I find the steaks too raw and/or too tough) The dessert (cheesecake with frutti di bosco) was also, one of the best I have ever had. All in all noone left there being disappointed.....except having to leave.

Excellent views, comfortable rooms, personalized service, friendly family atmosphere, great restaurant, and wonderful walks in an olive grove. 20 minutes from the city attractions, away from the crowds. With a unique history, this villa was a gift of the great Cosimo de' Medici to the famous classicism and translator of Plato, Marsilio Ficino. In the 15th century, this villa was where the intellectuals who launched the Renaissance met and discussed the classics. The villa was renovated in the last 15 years, and an elegant restaurant was added only in the last two years. As the villa has only seven rooms, it's not for mass tourism. Anyone who stays here should be able to climb stairs.

Charming place to stay if you have a car (1,5 hours by feet from Florence). Beautiful rooms, cozy guest room, very tasty food in a restaurant at the same building of hotel.

Villa Le Fontanelle was perfectly dreamy. Usually when I travel, I spend lots of time out and about but at Villa Le Fontanelle, I wanted to spend lots of time in the gorgeous rooms, taking in the views from the floor to ceiling windows or walking the lovely property. Definately lots of old world charm. Loved it!

Stayed 4 nights at this very atmospheric , historic stately home with private chapel, around 4-5 km north of the Duomo. It is located in a stunning setting on the hills overlooking the Arno valley below. The access is off a narrow one-way street near the university hospital, via a private access gravel road twisting further up the hill. Fantastic views of the city of Florence below. Very good lunch & dinner on site, but appeared to be mostly for hotel guests. Spacious romantic rooms with gorgeous views, decorated in a traditional way. Appears popular for photo shoots (fashion) & weddings- one can see why; it is a supremely photogenic place. Very friendly & accommodating staff, plus a few big dogs that my 2 year old daughter fell in love with. Recommended!
