(Translated by Google) La Gamba de Barcelona, a sculpture designed by Xavier Mariscal, opened in 1989, was made for the restaurant "Gambrinus" which closed after the Olympic games with more bars and restaurants of the Moll de la Fusta, this sculpture stayed, It is now owned by the town hall. Personally I like to remember how Barcelona was years ago and I'm glad they didn't remove it, they reformed it in 2004. Personalmente me gusta recordar como era años atrás Barcelona y me alegro de que no la hayan quitado, la reformaron en el 2004.

A fun sculpture on the promenade that used to attract customers to a famous seafood restaurant, but later the restaurant closed its doors and La Gamba became municipal property and remains in place, bringing smiles to passers-by.

Visiting Gambrinus the Crustacean changed my entire outlook on life: I've been truly blessed to have been able to have this opportunity to see Gambrinus with my very own eyes, an experience that I have only read about in the tales of old. Would highly recommend seeing this smiley boi

(Translated by Google) By order of the owners of the Gambrinus restaurant (hence the official name), for the Olympics in 1992, the famous Catalan sculptor and designer Javier Mariscal created this sculpture (to attract guests) in the form of a shrimp (as it were, Norwegian - interesting, the Scandinavians themselves saw this .. . ?). Many gossip that it looks more like lobster with giant claws and may be right ... After the restaurant was closed (it happens ...), the Shrimp was dismantled and forgotten until 2004. After long ships and disputes, the city’s mzria (in whose property it was transferred) decided to return this, beloved by all the inhabitants and guests of the capital of Catalonia, to a “funny interest” ... And now this playful and cheerful creature (also with a smile or a grin) “dwells” on a small colonnade, on the promenade of Barcelona. .).

Lovely lobster that overlooks the port of Barcelona. Was one of our last memories of the city and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Became a very positive meme throughout the rest of our trip (ie “Our Lord and Savior, Gambrinus”) and served to be one of the better memories of Barcelona. You won’t regret seeing his mighty smile. Please do go out of your way to bask in his presence.

The Gamba or Gambrinus, designed by the designer Javier Mariscal and inaugurated in 1989, is a 10 meter long sculpture. It was created for the famous Gambrinus restaurant, located on Passeig de Colom. Mariscal was a close friend of the owner of the Gambrinus, who asked him for a decorative element to differentiate his establishment from the others. The designer of "Cobi", the mascot of the Barcelona Olympic Games, designed a sculpture of a giant Prawn with lobster legs. The creature has a face and its painted smile looks comical. In 2004, the city council of Barcelona bought and rehabilitated this piece, to turn it into a tourist attraction at Moll de la Fusta.

This is definitely worth taking a walk down to if you are walking along the waterfront boardwalk. It gets super busy around the area sometimes, lots of people selling knockoffs or street performers. It’s pretty damn huge, so pictures don’t quite do it justice!

we like lobster but they are usually red. Gold is cool. They have added a wave structure beneath it which helps contextualize it as a lobster. Antenna we don’t love. You really start to realize how much you love it when you get to the next wave like underpass and it doesn’t have a lobster.

(Translated by Google) An interesting and giant lobster statue I encountered while walking by Passeig de Colom near Port Vell. The reason why the statue was called Gambrinus was previously used as a decor in a seafood restaurant called Gambrinus. This 10-meter-long fiberglass sculpture was taken by the city council when the restaurant was closed, renovated and started to be displayed here. The designer of the lobster is the Spanish art master Javier Mariscal, who also designed the 92 Olympic Mascot, Gobi. The name of the statue in Spain is Escultura La Gamba.

(Translated by Google) La Gamba or Gambrinus, by Spanish sculptor Javier Mariscal, 1989. The sculpture on the Paseo de Colón represents a huge "shrimp". The work actually became a claim to several restaurants and bars, which had their doors closed shortly after the closing of the Barcelona Olympics in 1992. The sculpture continues to adorn the Port Nou pier on the Ronda del Litoral. (Original) La Gamba ou Gambrinus, do escultor espanhol Javier Mariscal, de 1989. Whoever did this and who made the decision to commission and assemble this aberration of sculpture have not, EVER, reflected on art. But it is more serious, because in addition to this lack of knowledge about art, all those involved lack any sense of aesthetics if they saw a sketch of this horrible work and thought it would be something that would beautify the place. I see the graffiti-like face and I get the feeling that someone vandalized the work but no, that's how its author conceived it! The icing on the cake is calling a representation of a lobster Gamba. Everything about this thing represents human ignorance and imbecility. It makes me sad to see it every time I pass by. Without a doubt the worst sculpture I have ever seen in Barcelona. I would nominate it for the award for the most grotesque sculpture in Europe. Someone please remove her from our space forever!
