The museum is not really friendly for non Chinese people. From the beginning I face difficultly. I went to the ticket counter and I asked one of the 2 ladies for ticket for the museum. She told me no english and she ignored me. I asked her again "ticket museum" 2 very easy words for her position but she ignored me again and she told me no no and she made signal to leave. I asked a man who was waiting in the line to translate on behalf of me and he helped me to buy the ticket (10cny) from the same lady who was telling me to leave. After these I entered the museum. I asked something in the lady in the entrance, she couldn't speak english but tried to help with few words. In the floor where the entrance is there are 2 rooms playing video 1for locals and one for foreign. I went to the 2nd for foreign but I had to wait until somebody to come to activate the video. Most of the exhibists have only full description of what you see in chinese and only the title of the object in english. I felt not welcome. If you are Chinese I think you will enjoy the museum more. The museum is clean.

12rmb entry fee, 25rmb package that also includes Dr. Sun Yat-sen memorial and Guangzhou museum. Most of the exhibits have English translation, and the museum is built on the archeological remains of Nanyue King Wen's tomb so you can walk through a portion of what remains.

Great Museum on a significant archaeological spot. Admission was twelve Yuan, and there were free brochure guide/maps in about ten different languages near the entrance. The tomb itself was neat. I couldn't stand in most of it, I was squatting around, very cool. Most of the actual remains deteriorated. When I was there, some of the stuff was temporarily in Hainan, but what I did see was worth the visit.

Amazing place where Nanyue King was buried (along with horses, servants and treasures) 2000 years ago. It's an incredible way to witness the way China was already a very developped civilization at this period. One can actually visit the grave, but also very interesting exhibitions showing what was found on the site, or other temporary themes (bronze mirrors, etc) It's an absolute must see !

A Concise and great overview of the ancient history of the city. Guangzhou has deep history and you can glimpse some of it here.

Though small in scale, the items are well labeled and presented. The jade collection is exquisite and a large collection of pillow!

Really well built and educational. And good air condition. Can always expect China to put money into public infrastructure. Highly recommend tourists to visit.

Entrance fee: 12yuan/person (discounts for students, kids and seniors). Great place to visit if you have any interest in Chinese history. The museum was built on top of the Nanyue King's tomb, and offers a great insight about the rich past of the southern kingdom of the Han dynasty. The place is great to take kids to; the museum organises activities for children quite often. Make sure to give yourself plenty of time if you wish to cover all parts of the museum (2h15m for us in a rush).

Although this museum cannot be compared to the Terracotta warriors in Xi-an in terms of scale and grandeur, it is nevertheless, a very interesting museum. They even have a playroom for children in case they get bored! The highlight of our visit was the lacquered coffin of the Nanyue King which is at the rear of the building and can be found atop a flight of stairs. They do have an interesting array of ceramics and an audio-visual show which plays at various intervals. Prior to our visit here, we were under the impression that most of the historical artifacts in Chinese history are to be found in Beijing and Xi-an. This visit is definitely worthwhile and one should plan to spend at least 2 hours. We would rate this museum as 4.5-4.8 out of a possible score of 5!!!
