Had an absolutely amazing tour with Manuel today. It’s difficult for me to speak much Spanish, but I understand it well enough. Manuel spoke slowly and clearly and I thoroughly enjoyed all the information he gave during the tour. The palace itself is breathtakingly beautiful. Just seeing the outside is not enough. The tour is totally worth it.

Beautiful place from the inside and outside! We took the tour that it last about 45 minutes. The tour guide will make you some question, so, pay attention. The tour is in Spanish, but I bet that the tour guide speak English too! Thanks to Julia Mercedes to do, this possible!

Beautiful palace with interesting history. It’s only possible to visit with a guided tour which was less than an hour long. Worth coming inside when in Guatemala City. We particularly liked the murals depicting the indigenous Guatemalans & the Spanish. Also the stained glass was absolutely beautiful!

The Palacio Nacional de la Cultura is known as Guatemala's City symbol. The architecture is stunning and the building used to house the President of Guatemala. Construction was completed in 1943 and it's currently used as a museum. In addition, the government occasionally holds ceremonial events here. It's surrounded by a distinctive plaza that has plenty of shops and tourist activities.

This Palace used to house all Ministries early on, but today it's only home to the Ministry of Culture and Sports. It was built built a dictator and it shows in the lavish decor, and even the fact that all doors have his fingerprint on the door handle (see picture). It's truly worth getting a guided tour, so you can learn about the history of the place and some Guatemalan history. One of the central pieces of the palace is the sculpture that commemorates the signing of the peace treaty with the guerrilla, flanked by a permanent flame.

Did not have time to do the inside your but just seeing it on the outside and walking around the neighborhood was a great experience. There are tour guides and photographers that offer their services in the quake. You can sit, relax and feed pigeons as some ladies sell the pigeons food. This is a great starting point to your visit of Guatemala City .

This is a beautiful building. It has elements of ancient Greek and Roman architecture with a few Moorish style sprinkled around. The attention to details is astounding! I didn't think that Guatemala had a building like this! Honestly, it's better than the Capitol building in Washington D.C. and can rival many European historical buildings. Be sure to take the tour. It's quite informative.

Being born and raised in Guatemala, had never been inside. Wow! Amazing place. Has a feeling of the Smithsonian museums, except only Guatemalan history. Amazing place. My wife and daughter were mesmerized!

Great place to learn about the history and culture of culture of Guatemala. Tours are (unofficially?) Provided in many languages as i found out and start on the hour for 40q, tho tho the ticket counter was closed, so ours was free. Eother way, we lesrned a lot amd the arctecture and such were really nice and cool to see 8n its own right. Regardless of history as well behind it as well.

The National Palace of Culture today is part museum and part government office. The entry fee to the museum is Q40 per person. Tourists are only allowed to enter as part of tours and times for these tours are preset where groups can only enter at certain times because part of the building has offices of the Ministerio de Cultura y Deportes or Ministry of Culture and Sport. That is why if tourists want to go inside they need to know the times of the tours and be there 15-20 minutes early. The interior of the place has 350 rooms with ornate decorations; yet only few of them are available as part of the museum/ tour. The building is designed to have a large beautiful courtyard. Another unusual feature is the inclusion of traffic lights throughout the building to signal when the president was in the building and direct the traffic. The color was chosen because it was the favorite color of the President Jorge Ubico’s wife. The building also has a number of structural designs highlighting the number 5 which is the favorite number of the president, i.e., five windows in a row, five fountain faucets. The architectural styles of the Palace are Roman, Greek, Spanish, Arabic and French. The halls have a few large frescos reflecting various historic events. The tour takes about an hour and it is worth visiting.

I was really surprised by how interesting this palace was! I didn't know it was something we could take a tour of until I saw the signs. You wait until there's a group of 20 before you go in. So if you arrive right after a tour enters, you wait longer than if you're the 20th person to arrive. The guide spoke great English, but the tour was in Spanish. She said she could say some stuff in English, but I was okay with just Spanish since I was learning. She spoke really clear Spanish and I understood more than half the words! Another foreigner also learning Spanish on the tour said the same. The guide was great and the palace itself was beautiful!

Gorgeous square in the historic side of the city. Here you will see the National Palace and it's not far from Restaurante El Portal and Mercado Central. Combine With Other Attractions For A Great Visit.

Many many travelers to Guatemala skip a side trip to the nation’s capital… a huge mistake! Allow yourself at least 1/2 a day to visit the national Palace, the national Cathedral, the “Mercado Central” and stroll the 6a avenida before heading to Antigua, Atitlan or any other final destination! I can assure you that you won’t be disappointed! The national palace offers hourly guided tours… they are 100% worth it…

Beatiful building with two internal gardens. Amazing construction details and wood work on the ceilings. A must stop when you visit Central Park and the Cathedral. This place was the seat of government years ago. Now it houses the Ministry of Culture and Sports and some space for guest art exhibits

Tour admission info impossible to find in English. I did tour (in Spanish) previously by standing in a line forming in front but now everybody in line had a ticket. Interior is grand, elegant, and being restored to it's original glory. Not a palace where royalty or presidents live, it's more of a place where heads of state entertain and receive others of such stature.
